49ers lose to Cardinals in opposite of ‘elegant tank’

1 post in this topic

  1. The San Francisco 49ers dropped an ugly loss in Week 5 and the previously winless Arizona Cardinals are now 1-4. The 49ers dropped to 1-4 Authentic Jimmy Garoppolo Jersey , losing by a final score of 28-12. And drop really is the key phrase given how badly the 49ers receivers looked trying to catch the ball. This was a decidedly ugly game, and win or lose, it was going to tell us something about the 49ers. They are just not a good football team right now. They can make things happen, and can do some very impressive things, but more often than not they are screwing up. It is either bad tackling, or dropped passes, or penalties, or some shaky play-calling, or otherwise poor execution.C.J. Beathard’s performance was a mix of everything on Sunday. He made some big plays Authentic Kyle Juszczyk Jersey , but he was twice stripped of the ball. His pocket awareness is not so good, and it is leading to bad things. At the same time, when he was executing on his throws, he was not helped by his receivers. They regularly dropped big passes that cost the team chances to convert and move down the field. Drops and three lost turnovers put the 49ers in a bad position most of the day.You know it was a bad day when Robbie Gould had a rough outing. The 49ers scored a touchdown on their opening drive and Gould missed a field goal. The hold looked OK, but something wasn’t right and Gould didn’t attempt to kick. Later in the game, trailing 14-6, Gould missed a 45-yard attempt. Who knows what happens late in the game if those four points are converted, but things finish a little different. That being said, even with a win this was a statement as to the 49ers problems. The Cardinals entered the game as the last remaining winless team. Their defense was pretty solid coming in http://www.sanfrancisco49ersteamonline.com/ahkello-witherspoon-jersey , and Josh Rosen is an upgrade over Sam Bradford, but they are still not a particularly good team. They showed it in this game, with the 49ers out-gaining them by a sizable margin. And yet, the 49ers were trailing most of the day and never seemed like they were getting enough done.It was also a rough day on the injury report. They didn’t lose nearly as many players as they have the past few weeks, but there was a big one. Running back Matt Breida suffered an ankle injury in the second quarter. He left to get his ankles taped, but then was sent to the locker room. He was ruled out early in the third quarter. His status for Week 6 is up in the air.Up Next: @ Green Bay Packers, Monday Night FootballThe 49ers have their first prime time game of the season when they travel to Lambeau Field to face the Green Bay Packers. The Packers lost 31-23 to the Detroit Lions in a game they trailed nearly wire-to-wire. They pushed back with a pair of third quarter scores, but the defense couldn’t get a needed stop early in the fourth quarter. The story of the game was Mason Crosby missing four field goals and an extra point on the day. Green Bay dropped to 2-2-1 with the loss. Saturday is the last full practice of the San Francisco 49ers before they take on the New York Giants in their game on Monday Night Football. The final injury report will be available momentarily and Kyle Shanahan will be set to take the podium for some details but the beat writers are reporting on what the inactives are. Safety Jaquiski Tartt, wide receiver Pierre Gar莽on White Ahkello Witherspoon Jersey , and linebacker Reuben Foster are all listed as out for the 49ers Monday night game. All three of these players had been sitting out practices so the news shouldn’t be too surprising that they wouldn’t be good to go Monday Night. Reuben Foster was already trending in the direction of being out as the week went on. Additionally, tight end George Kittle looks ready to go Monday Night. Kyle Shanahan will be having his press conference with the media shortly, so we can get some more details from there. 49ers Saturday practice participation reportDNP: LB Reuben Foster (hamstring), WR Pierre Garcon (knee), S Jaquiski Tartt (shoulder)Limited: TE George Kittle (chest)Full participants: TE Garrett Celek (not injury related), G Joshua Garnett (thumb), C Weston Richburg (knee), T Joe Staley (not injury related)
