I get one chance a year to visit the ocean and fish. I am going to Chincoteage Island VA this year. Will be my first trip there and I would like some advice on a good time of the year to go and have succes catching some fish for the table and catch & release also. I plan on fishing both the surf and the bays. i thought late may or june would be ok. my window for this trip is from may to early sept. I would be thankful for any tips or advice please. Tom WV

Early to mid may would be my choice. You might hit the peak of the striper run in the surf and some good flounder in the bays.
