On AI yesterday afternoon, managed a couple good sized blues, a couple kingfish and one tough ass little puppy drum. Enjoyed one of the last real warm days for awhile.

WOW that was intense. That fish did not quit. Awesome film. Nobody on the beach as far as I could see. Doesn't get any better than that. Man that was too cool. Must have been a hidden leftover current cause the waves didn't look all that. Thanks for sharing What a cluster of lines you had to weave around. Good job. Best post ever and I'm going bowhunting tomorrow???? Congrats I knew you were gonna get one.

Dave, didn't look like the surf was big, but trust me, it was up early in the am...guess it was the camera...it was head high and bigger on sets with the current/grass making it difficult to hold. I was worried cause my 12 oz's was running up my main line and a little grass on it...I thought I was tangled in my pops line at one time but it was actually the weight up pass the main line and the grass giving it that weird feel...I was sweating it when I saw the tail and the weight was still on the main line...guess I should use a bead. Good luck bow hunting.

Yea I lost a fish in the tourney cause I forgot my bead as caused running line to nick on the outer bar and break just after I turned her. My weight must have been many yards up my line. Was a nice pig too.

Hi all, my name is Matt and I'm just joining this forum and also have a report to make. I was in OC this past weekend for the car show and some fishing. I fished Sunday morning the 7th on 3rd street from about 6:45 until 9:30 in the rain and had my most productive day in the OC surf ever, even though I have only fished it about 5 prior times. I started with one rod with fishbite bw and one with fresh finger mullet from All Tackle. I caught 2 spot which I used to catch 3 kingfish, a 16inch blue and a tiny flounder. On the mullet I caught a few small blues. I didn't have rain gear and by 9:30 I was soaked to the bone and called it a day. Monday I went back to 3rd street from 6:30 until 8:45. I caught 2 small blues and right before packing up so I could check out of my room I had a good knockdown, it ended up being a clearnose ray. After checkout and breakfast I stopped and set up on 22nd street to use the last of my bait before heading home. I missed a quick knockdown and then on my last piece of bait I caught a puppy drum.

Nice catches!

I cannot believe all the fish around right now...I never caught a puppy drum in all the years I have been surf fishing...but this year I have been catching them often. Don't understand why but its nice to see. Tons of kings, spot, blue and even managed a short striper all mixed in together with a mess of puppies within yards of the beach Wednesday...was a crazy day...Non stop catching...Even caught one that I could keep...very tasty. Switching to smaller hooks on a couple rods for the puppies. Good fishin right now!...tho never managed any big reds...still fun!

Do you all think the storm out at sea will help, hurt, or do nothing for the fishing on the beach.
