Wire Vs. Cable

8 posts in this topic

I use wire. Had a buddy using 40 lbs test cable got bit of ever time with shark. I use "malin" wire 170 lbs test with a hay wire twist. but I only use wire for toothy criters or inbetween seasons when you might get a toothy. striper don't seem to mind it, but I haven't got to menny of them

The only time I use any type of metal is when I am targeting sharks. I use stranded cable with crimps.

I do have some coated steel leaders in case I ever get into a big blue blitz and getting bit off becomes a problem, unfortunately I never been lucky enough to have that problem yet.

plezzzz keep in mind shark fishing IS A TEAM SPORT. don't go out by your self

pm me if you want to go out . If you read thru some older threads you can get a LOT of good info.
