I caught this about a month back while fishing in Ocean City, MD was wondering what it was?

Thats what I thought at first but it doesn't look consistent with any shad photos(at least hickory which I suspected it to be). It more closely resembles a skipjack herring, but are they found in Ocean City?

looks like a herring shad to me, back in may and june and early july we were catching tons of them on spec rigs while playing with the snapper blues on the north jetty.

Definitely a herring. It looks a little skinny for a shipjack. If it had very fine scales like a trout it is an atlantic herring. If it has larger scales and rough scales on the belly it is a shipjack sometimes know as a sawbelly herring. In any case it is some fine striper bait.

It definately looks like a herring..if you want to check it out for sure....The "Knights who say Ni" want you to use it to cut down the tallest tree in the forest....then bring them another shrubbery.:dontknow:
