caught this peculiar looking creature at the CHSP pier about a week ago...it was 5-6 inches long...any idea what its called???

that's a sea robin...yeah, ugly little thing...but, that tail offers some good meat..whack off the head, and nothing but firm white meat afterwards...

I agree. Looks like you ran across a sea robin with underdeveloped "wings." We used to catch them in the flats off Stingray Point all the time as kids, but I haven't seen one in years.

holly cow thats the biggest sea robin I have ever seen. Is there a state record?
