I planning on heading down to the Surf friday afternoon. My plan was to jump on the surf until it got dark then hit IRI at night. I'm not really a lure guy, but wanted to increase my chances of striper for Saturday's dinner. I've fished 3r's, and the others dozens of times but never over night. Are my chances the same on the surf compared to IRI?

IMHO IRI will be your best bet. The surf is unpredictable, hit and miss.

So playing the surf until sun set then hitting IRI at night. Then jumpin back on the surf before the sun comes up is my best bet? :) I figured the surf at night would be a little slow.

Fish the tide at the inlet, surf the rest of the time. I have had some really good nights striper fishing off the beach at night.
