Fished 2nd isle today,saw guys slamming togs told me they were using " stone crabs" are these fiddlers or is there such a beast? I've eaten them ate joes crab shack ! they said you dig them up from around rocks can anyone help??

I bet they were using Green Crabs, which are a little bit bigger than fiddlers.

agreed, I can't imagine anyone using Stone Crabs as bait as there claws are to valuable as table fare to waste as fish-bait:confused:

where do i locate these crabs?

Not many places have them at all. Most people get them from the guys up north and bring them down!

Stone Crabs are caught in Florida,Divers pop off one claw and release the Crab alive.They are too expensive to use for Togs.Around here in Va.many fishermen referr to the Jonah Crab as a Stone Crab but they are really known as Rock Crab.

I discovered that they are actually green crabs I guess people call them all sorts of names thanks for the input
