THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN WAKEFIELD HAS ISSUED A HIGH SURF ADVISORY... WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT MONDAY. STRONG NORTHEAST WINDS WILL CONTINUE OFFSHORE... DUE TO AN OCEAN STORM CENTERED NEAR BERMUDA... AND AN AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE BUILDING IN FROM THE NORTHWEST. THIS NORTHEAST WIND WILL GENERATE HIGH SEAS OFFSHORE... WHICH WILL THEN MOVE TOWARD THE COAST. AS A RESULT... SURF AT THE ATLANTIC BEACHES... FROM OCEAN CITY MARYLAND... ON SOUTH... DOWN THE LOWER EASTERN SHORE... WILL BUILD TO 6 TO 8 FEET TODAY... AND CONTINUE TONIGHT AND MONDAY. MINOR BEACH EROSION WILL BE POSSIBLE. A HIGH SURF ADVISORY MEANS THAT HIGH SURF WILL AFFECT BEACHES IN THE ADVISORY AREA... PRODUCING RIP CURRENTS AND LOCALIZED BEACH EROSION.
