Just got done with my second build. Fusion Magnum,Fuji SiC guides with black and copper wraps and some copper marbling. I left the butt plain and simple for grip replacement ease.

That is awsome! I am getting a large order of RS blanks in and want to give this a shot. I really like the affect. Any suggestions?

Coop it's pretty simple.Buy whatever color of Testors model paint you want. Don't shake it up, let it seperate and pour off the clear carrier. Do your wraps and color perserver if needed. Mix up your finish. Put a small amount in a seperate cup and add a little bit of the Testors pigment in it and stir it up. Apply your clear finish, let it get leveled out then take small dabs of your colored finish with a toothpick and put it where you want. The above pictured rod was simple black wraps with copper trim then I put the copper pigment in little streaks here and there and hit it with a blow dryer while it was turning clockwise in the rod dryer then again with the blow dryer while it was turning counter clockwise and thats what I ended up with. Just random swirls. I have seen some pics where people get kinda fancy with the marbling and have specific patterns in it. Maybe I will see you on the beach during the HT tournement Coop. Stop by if you want.

Not sure I could fish with something so purdy. Think I would hang mine above the fireplace just for lookin at. Cool effect. I am pretty rough on my rods with that plate I have to wear but that diamond wrap on my handle didn't last 2 trips. The shrink wrap teflon stuff has worked well for my abuses.

Not sure about that x-flock shrinkwrap myself CG,even though I know I'm not as hard on my equipment as you. That's why I didn't put any wraps at the ends of the grips in case it shreds off there I can put something else on there easily.

Dave, ever thought about putting a cord wrap where the plate hits the grip, you could even epoxy over it to harden it up. I was thinking about doing it on my cork where the spike hits the handle but all the spikes hit different spots...need to even the bolts up!

Yeah horn, show it with a drum in the pic...then we'll know you mean business!:icon_thumright:

That would be nice Charkbait. Maybe I can pull one in during the tourney again:icon_thumleft:.A little prize money would be nice but, it might end up being biggest bluefish to take it all like the first year.If there's drum to be caught I'm sure CG will get the most :D..Then we can add to his retirement fund.

Cord - funny you should mention. Thats exactly what I did on my lami 162s and Breakaway 1509s rods using sash cord. I also would wrap the cord with electrical tape. Had it that way for years but I think it effects the action so have since been using cork tape as I cannot find the right teflon shrink wrap for those 162 thick arse handles. I still have to use bunch wraps of electrical tape where the rod handle hits my sissy plate. I just change the tape every so often. I can destroy a rod handle quick.

Don't worry bout me Bryan as as screwed up as my should gets after 2 days I doubt I will be able to fish hard. Wife going in for out patient procedure on Weds and if it does not go well I might even drop out which will end my life as I know it. Crap with wedding following weekend I might miss entire drum run.

You can't let that happen Dave! You've got to be there so every time I stop by and chat you'll get hooked up on one :D.

CG, with that shoulder you'll have to toss my AFAW's...strong like bull but easy on the body. Then again no point in getting/trying new rods if you don't have time to fish!
