Having trouble casting?

The potato gun and a can of cheap hair spray does the trick too, only farther!

I DON'T think we can get away with it because it and the compressed air version are a firearm as defined by several dictionaries.

A firearm is a kinetic energy weapon that fires either a single or multiple projectiles propelled at high velocity by the gases produced by action of the rapid confined burning of a propellant (the hairspray).

Or...

a dangerous projectile may be expelled by an explosive, gas, or air (compressed air tank).

Here's the Federal take on definition:

18 U.S.C. section 922(g)(1).

For purposes of section 922(g)(1), a firearm is defined to

include any weapon which will or is designed to or may be readily

converted to expel a projectile by the action of an explosive, as

follows:

(a) As used in this chapter-

(3) The term "firearm" means (A) any weapon (including a

starter gun) which will or is designed to or may readily be

converted to expel a projectile by the action of an explosive;

Alas, would they consider the launch tube a "weapon"?

Is the 8Nbait considered "dangerous"?

I suppose anything that has not been tested by the CPSC or other official entities could be considered untested and or dangerous.

Here again, the word "explosive" is used. The release of compressed air is NOT an explosion, it is an EXPANSION.

I have looked all around for definitions of the word "firearm" and come up with a multitude of answers.

Since AI is in the State of Maryland it would (read: could) go by both Federal AND State laws.

I will query the NPS on this issue.

I wouldn't consider it a weapon because it is not used as a weapon.
