2. Went out to dinner at Masons in Easton with some friends. Sure enough, skate was on the menu. This is a fairly high end resteraunt (wouldn't think skate would be on the menu) and asked the waitress, just to be sure, "what is skate"? Yep, its the skate we catch. I didn't order it, but my buddies wife ordered it and the meat was fried and was shaped just like a skate wing (half moon). To my suprise, it was very good. Next large skate I catch, it's coming home.

4. I have been using Power Pro at Assateague and someone there suggested using Spiderwire Ultracast braid as it casts further and is easier to tie knots with. Would appreciate comments from anyone who has experience using both braids. Josh
5. They suck, we always get overrun with black flys. Anyone have any ways that you can avoid them when the West wind is hitting? The weather forecast this weekend is saying west winds both saturday and sunday
6. I got lucky again and had this Photograph of an Osprey chosen for todays Daily Press. I was real happy with the picture. I took it in my back yard monday night as it was getting dark.
7. Fished with a couple friends today at AI. Had about 10 -12 rods in a line down the beach and it was absolutely dead. not a single bait was touched by anything. We had out clam, bunker and crab. We left some baits soaking for over 2 hours and they came back untouched. I never had clam last more than 20 minutes before. Not a good way to start off my 2010 surf fishing season.
8. For you guy's who like to fish with sand between your toes.[video=youtube;9u7-cy561nU]
9. Anyone ever use Ultima Red Ice? I just bought a 15# spool and will spool up my two 525 Mags with it. Curious if anyone else has used it before??? ULTIMA RED ICE
10. As we approach the flounder season, I would like to encourage our recreational fishermen to consider using larger hooks, especially when fishing live bait. My belief is that we will have a much greater release mortality with the 19" minimum size unless we do things differently. Suggested hook sizes with live bait would be as follows: wide gap hooks- 4/0 and 5/0; circle hooks- 2/0 to 4/0; j hooks-3/0 and up. Circle hooks, while requiring a different hooking technique, are awfully effective in preventing deep-hooked fish. Handling the fish is extremely important as well. Effective use of a dehooker and you do not even have to touch the fish. If you choose to handle the fish do so with a damp cloth. If the fish is deep-hooked, cut the line and leave the hook in. The fish will have a greater chance of survival and you lost only an easily replaceable hook and saved a valuable resource.
11. Hey, everyone. I just joined today. I was wondering if anyone hase been up to conowingo or deer creek with any success with the shad fishing yet. Also I heard rumor that the shad also run up the big gunpowder to the railroad bridge at jones rd...Is this true
12. Fished with four other guys on Capt. Steve Cardano's boat 4/2/10 and with two guys on 4/3/10 at reef 10. We had a great day with a limit of 15 tog and one nice cod on the second but could not get anchored right on the third and only had one 17 inch tog for the day. Still not a bad way to start the 2010 fishing year.
13. I bought this live well and never used it. comes with everything except a battery. 14 gallons. perfect for bridge, pier, surf, boat, or transporting live bait from place to place. New was $220 and I want $150 for it. heres a couple pics.
14. I was thrilled to get these shots tonight. It still amazes me the size fish an Osprey can catch and carry. This the first time I have ever got a picture of one with a Striped Bass of this size. At least someone is getting out in this wind and catching.

17. "ANNAPOLIS — The 2010 summer flounder season will likely run for seven months, a change from draft regulations released last week. Fish caught in the April to November season must be a minimum of 19 inches long and there is a three fish creel limit. The Maryland Department of Natural Resources originally proposed a four month fishery with a 18.5 inch size limit but coastal recreational boat captains complained that the season was too short and would damage their business. The current plan will be sent to the Maryland General Assembly for final approval." heres the link to the article MARLYAND: State settles on longer flounder season | delmarvanow.com | The Daily Times

19. Can someone provide me with information on catch/release requirements, permits required (besides the OSV and NOAA, are there any others?), and some rules/regs for surf fishing on AI? I have been surf fishing on the Island for the past 4 years, but quite casual and with pretty few catches. I need to become more familiar as I make it out more this year. Thanks so much!

22. The next meeting of the Bull Island Anglers Club will be Monday March 22nd at 7pm. The meeting will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church in Poquoson, Va. The address is 1294 Poquoson, Ave. The meeting is free and open to the public. This will be the first meeting of 2010 and we have a real treat this month, Mr. Louis Glaser will be coming to speak about early season flounder fishing. Mr. Glaser is a beast on the flounder and is especially good in the early season. He has agreed to share his techniques with us. This will be a great meeting as the water temps are warming and the flounder should be turning on anytime now. We will also be taking care of some club business, so be prepared to offer your opinions. Hope to see everyone there.
