1. Got a question about Rocks this happened to a friend of mine and me the same night. My Buddy had 2 nice rocks that he had caught and had on ice for 2 days I had 2 nice rocks that I had caught and had on ice for less than 20 hours we both fillet them and he cooked his one way and me another (used a crab cake res. spread it out on top of the fish and broiled them). Took em out of the oven and they looked a tad bit over cooked but nothing tooo bad. Man o man took one bite of them and the fishy taste was sooo bad and over powering that I couldn't eat another bight. Felt bad about that and put them down for the dog to eat and she couldn't even finish them. Called my buddy up the next day and he said his fish had a real bad fishy taste to them as well. When I cleaned the fish they looked good and I even cut out the dark meat on the fillet. Not sure what went wrong but was wondering if anyone has had this happen to them and what I could do in the future to make sure this doesn't happen again...Tanks
2. A bunch of friends and I are heading down to Assateague March 13th through the end of the weekend. I an experienced fisherman but I've never been to the island. I've been doing research and was wondering is someone could tell me what I could expect to catch that time of year down there. I've seen a lot of the shark pictures and have the kayaks to bring bait far out but wanted to know if they'll even be active in-shore that early. Also I know most guys are tight lipped when it comes to spots but if someone could point me in the right direction as far as location it would be much appreciated although I'm not sure that that is really possible when it comes to surf fishing. Thanks for any help.
3. Anyone know if I would have any realistic success surf fishing for sharks on Long Island. I'm worried that they remain too far from the coast to have decent odds at catching any. Thanks.
4. well gotta start this one a day early cause im gonna be outta town tomorrow. plenty of kins and spot being caught out in the surf with a few croaker in the mix. shark have been hit or miss due to the west winds over the past 2 weeks but if this east wind holds out a while things should be back to normal. now get out there and wet a line, be safe and have fun.
5. Ok, why not? The spring get together is in the past for this year. Time to move on! Time to start talking about a summer get together on Assateague. Generally, this happens in August, down past the Bull Pen. Later on, we will set up seperate threads in reference to who's going, what to bring, and who needs a ride. To start with, we can figure on a two-day event, possibly three days. In the poll, vote for what day you would like to see the event START. If you choose Sunday, we'll figure that means Sun-Mon (and Tues?). And of course if you choose Friday, we'll figure the next two or three days. Remember, weekends are more crowded and MAY involve waiting to get on the beach, if you get there after about 8 am. Cast your votes!!
6. Hey everyone...Just wondering if anyone will be out either OC or AI saturday evening? I will be down Saturday during the day and just wondering if it would be worth staying and fishing Saturday night. Let me know!
7. I'll be working the under armour booth this week. Stop by if you can. Ben
8. I am often asked if Spadefish are good to eat. Yes they are. Tonight I had some company over so I cooked some up. I marinated one batch in a herb / garlic mix and grilled it. Then I batterd some in House Autry breading and deep fried it. I also cut up and grilled a bunch of fresh veggies. It was all delicious! My guest also brought some home made cookies and a cake so we covered all of the food groups, Dinner and Desert. Ha! I caught it, cleaned it and cooked it.
9. hey guys im thinking of doing some sharking off of A.I tonight at one of the walk on spots sense i dont have a 4X4 permit. If anyone is going to be out give me a shout and maybe we can hook up and wet a line or two!!! cell - 717.991.3882
10. well summer fishin has started early this year with the shark arriving a few weeks early. spot and kings in the surf and a few striper in the inlet. feel free to post if you go out catch or no catch and have a safe and happy 4th of july.
11. Ok, so I have my molds for 3,4,5 & 6 oz bucktails and parachutes ordered. They should be here in a couple days. I already have powder coat, which I know will be better, however I'm guessing that it'll be the more expensive option. The other option is vinyl paint. I'm thinking that will be cheaper but less durable. How about some input everyone! By the way, if I can get good at making them (umbrellas, tandem bucktails and parachutes, and singles) I'm hoping to market some of them....
12. i will be vacationing in portland, maine for the last week of july. i am wondering if anyone can inform me on "on shore fishing" in the area. any information is welcomed....i.e.- spots, tackle, targeted species, surf fishing, fly fishing, gear (willing to purchase all necessary equiptment), regulations, bait shops, fresh/saltwater....etc. thank you for your responses!!!!! --steve
13. I am coming down in a couple weeks and I am wondering if anyone can tell me a bit about surf fishing in myrtle beach. can you fish right in front of the hotels? Is anything biting right now...(or in 2 weeks,)
14. I have a few questions about the type of rod, reel, and line weight for when you are casting a guidline out off a pier that you put live fishbait on. Is #50 line ok? I was also wondering if I shold use a heavy weight spinning reel with a 13 footrod? What weight is the anchor? I knw the anchor has four hooks on it. Where can they be purchased or is it easier to make them.

18. I've fished the tournment in 2007, 2008 but not 2009... I was thinking about giving it another try (this time with my truck), but was wondering how many of you guys will take part. Also I dont have tons of experience in Surf Turnaments, but would like to know if you guys fish them differently than you would regular fishing. I've heard of some guys switching bait every 15 minutes.
19. OK everyone who's coming to the spring fling. Lets get a head count and if you want to come and don't have a ride down the beach there is always someone that can give you a ride so just let us know OK since I started the thread I'll be there plus one more.
20. hi all fished AI this past weekend (friday night and saturday morning) aand between the three of us got the big skunk:BangHead:. wont be able to get back down till next weekend (7,8,9) and ideas if the bite woll pick up?
21. Fished with a couple friends today at AI. Had about 10 -12 rods in a line down the beach and it was absolutely dead. not a single bait was touched by anything. We had out clam, bunker and crab. We left some baits soaking for over 2 hours and they came back untouched. I never had clam last more than 20 minutes before. Not a good way to start off my 2010 surf fishing season.
22. Anyone ever use Ultima Red Ice? I just bought a 15# spool and will spool up my two 525 Mags with it. Curious if anyone else has used it before??? ULTIMA RED ICE
23. After more than two decades away from plugging I have come back to do some rock hopping and fishing. So far I am having a great time catching schoolies. I am not sure if I every want to pick up my Lami 1502 heaver again.
24. If you want to catch a big striper on fly tackle now is the time to try it. Had fish to 10# yesterday, but larger fish were landed on spinning gear. Most fish yesterday were in the 4# to 8# range. Still tons of fun on a fly rod. Capt. Kevin Josenhans Josenhans Fly Fishing 443-783-3271
25. I was just wondering if anyone fishes around sandyhook from a kayak. I just bought one and was interested in any advice on where is good to put in at and where most people fish without getting knocked around too bad by other boat wakes and rough water.
