1. Thanks for the guidance. I did fish AI every early morning at the beginning of this week and the 25 Knot NE wind was playing havoc with 6 Oz. weights. I guess that's why they call it fishing and not catching. Still a beautiful time without any bugs.
2. Headed to AI this Sunday to camp for 3 nights. Is there a place nearby to pickup mullet or can you usually catch or seine for that bait in the surf? If anyone else plans on fishing around that time, I'd welcome a barter arrangement of advice for beer. My water has usually been fresh. Looks like high tides are running about 4 a.m. or so those 3 nights. Praying for an East wind... AJ
3. Thanks for the responses. I'll being trying the solitude of the surf with a couple different rigs. I have the right shark gear, just a little intimidated about the whole release thing. How long should those hook pullers actually be?
4. Making memories for my kid that will last a lifetime. The cigar and beer part isn't too bad either.
5. Has anything been decided on this yet? I'll be camping and fishing there Sunday through Wednesday, Aug 30 - Sept 2. Deep Fish Pizza
6. Hey, Anybody going to be fishing in Va Beach surf on the nights of the 17th, 18th, or 19th of August. I'll be there around 25th street after work trying my luck on the beach. Would welcome advice. Looks like high tides will range from 7:00p.m. on Monday to 9:00p.m. on Wednesday. I really want to give the surf a try, but am I wasting my time? Should I just go to the pier.
7. Thanks All, I will definitely get the beach permit for driving the 4 wheel. AJ
8. Hi Fellow Fishing Friends, Looking at this thread really makes me want to pickup and hit the beach some 3 hours from Alexandria. I hope to do this soon. I notice from the pics that nobody seems to be wearing a surf belt or surf tackle bag, etc. etc. Is there a standard set of equipment recomendations for what you find useful in your trips. I don't see myself as scaling jetty rocks at midnight like Zeno Hromin (yeah I have been doing alot of reading up). But what do you find as necessary when you surf fish? What items are considered "too much extraneous stuff" for a newbie like myself. I've got the rod, reel, and rigs. AJ
9. I have been learning alot from the members here over the past few weeks. Can't wait to get this new Saltwater Rig in the Surf! Thanks, AJ in Alexandria
