  1. Hey Sam, The site looks great. Please contact me about advertising. Keith
  2. We just set up a 24-Hour Bait Vending Machine in front of our <acronym title="Ocean City"><acronym title="Ocean City"><acronym title="Ocean City">OC</acronym></acronym></acronym> store. We have squid, mullet, sand fleas, shrimp and more available 24-Hours per day.
  3. BTW, Love the new look of Atlantic Anglers. We are getting the OC store stocked up for 2009. If you guys can let Steve, John or myself know what you want us to stock or what we are been missing I would highly appreciate the input. We will have many new items in stock, so come by and check us out. We are looking forward to a strong year of fishing in OC this year. Thanks to everyone for all of your support over the past two years.
  4. The White Marlin Open is over and the top OC boats are getting ready for the Mid Atlantic 500 which can be fished out of Cape May or OC. Being that a huge 935# Blue Marlin was hung during the WMO has alot of anglers hoping for some nice marlin for the 500. There were also some huge Mahi hung that were up to 67 pounds. The bite is scattered right now and it will take a combination of skill, patience and luck to fill the fish boxes at this time. Hopefully, some new water will flow in and bring concentrations of fish, especially YFT. I personally got out last tuesday. We went to the Hambone looking to jig for BFT. We did not find the tuna but once we started trolling we found some nice dolphin. We ended up pulling in the trolling gear and pulling out the spinning and fly gear. We used frozen baby spot for bait and tried everything: flies, poppers, butterfly jigs - all with success with a limit of 40 mahi and two full fish boxes of gaffer sized fish, along with a few throw backs since we had our limit. According to my customers, there are scattered YFT at the Hot Dog, Poor Mans, and Washington Canyons. You can find schools of Mahi at the same spots. White Marlin are in all the canyons with reports of released fish at the Poormans, Washington, and Baltimore Canyons. Here is the 3-day consolidated water temp shot:
  5. Large bluefin tuna continue to provide excellent action for anglers fishing the hambone, chicken bone, the tea cup ,sausauges, and the Hotdog. Chunkers have begun to pick up bluefin now on the parking lot. Bluefins of 202 lbs ,188, 177, 166 lbs have been some of the larger tunas. Anglers venturing off to the canyons have found yellowfins on a regular basis. The Hot Dog was hot for Mahi today, with several charters landing 20-40 fish each. A few wahoo in the 60lb range have shown in the hotdog area as well. Scattered white marlin catches have been reported especially at the Norfolk Canyon where a well known OC charter boat release six Whites today. The Marlin Bite should start heating up. I am having flashbacks of our first fish of 2006 below and hope to get another big girl soon: The White Marlin Open is Ten days away. Should be a good time and hopefully, a great bite. Don't forget your circle hook rigs this year during the tournaments. We have pallets of Baitmasters in stock at the OC store. Butterfly jigging is the hot topic right now with many customers cleaning out our stock in both stores recently. Don't worry, we have new stock coming in all the time. Here is the 3-day consolidated water temp chart which shows plenty of warm water throughout the MD/DE coast. Here is the latest inshore weather report: OVERNIGHT SW WINDS 5 TO 10 KT. SEAS 2 TO 4 FT. 6. Sitting near Santa Barbara, CA right now, but here is a report from the guys in the OC shop: Large BFT continue to provide excellent action for anglers fishing Massey’s canyon, Hambone, the Teacup, Chickenbone, the Sausages, and also this weekend the Parking lot has produced BFT. YFT action finally has improved for anglers fishing outside the Hotdog and deep waters the West Wall of the Baltimore Canyon. Mixed in with the YFT have been some of the season’s first Wahoo action, YFT are in the 40-60lb class. The Charter boat Mojo out of the Ocean city Fishing Center took the top fish in the Cape May tuna Tournament with 202lb BFT. Tropical Strorm Cristobal is skirting the Carolinas and its projected path might hold back the fishing for a few days, however, it has been my experience after large storms the fishing changes, and for the better in most cases. After what I think was hurricane Isabel in 2003, we went out the the 50 fathom line and did great. The fishing prior to that storm was spotty at best. Here was our catch. We tagged and released a good number of dolphin for a migratory study out of South Carolina. Vertical jigging is becoming popular with the offshore crowd with Bill Pino aboard the Squidnation.com boat scoring on some nice tunas recently. Here is the Sunset Marina report from Saturday: "Osprey" caught a bluefin at the Hambone. "Muff Diver" caught a 166 lb bluefin and released another 6 and also caught a dolphin at the Hambone. "Zipper" caught a 172 lb bluefin at the Hambone. "Fin-Ness" caught a bluefin and a yellowfin at the Hambone. "Trouble Maker" caught a bluefin, a golden tilefish a dolphin and released 2 white marlin. "Cyntinory" caught 2 dolphin and a yellowfin at the Poorman's. "Clear Shot" caught a bluefin and a yellowfin at the Hambone. "Billfisher" caught several dolphin and released a blue marlin at the Norfolk. "Marlin Magic" caught a yellowfin at the Hot Dog. 7. I am in Las Vegas for the annual iCast Tackle Industry show. I received some great reports from the OC shop which I will post here. The grade of BFT being caught on the inshore lumps off the coast of Maryland, Delaware and Virginia has improved since the Ocean City Tuna Tournament. Bluefins have been weighed at the local OC marinas weighing 217, 188, 172#, with the cookie cutter size being around 150#. Reports are coming into the shop that indicate some new hotspots such as the Tea Cup, Sausages, Elephant Trunk and the Chicken Bone. The Hot Dog, Masseys Canyon and the Hambone are still producing, but these spots have been hammered recently. The weather looks good going forward. Get out there since this bite will not last forever. Here are the reports from Sunset Marina: Yesterday: "Osprey" went to the Hot Dog today and caught 10 bluefins and released 8 of them. The "Clear Shot" went to the Twin Wrecks and caught a dolphin. All the rest of the boats went to the Hambone. "Pumbin Hard" caught 3 bluefins and released 2 of them. "All In" caught 2 dolphins and 1 bluefin. "Reel Joy" caught 2 bluefins. "Muff Diver" caught 14 bluefins and released 12 of them, one of the ones they kept weighed in at 158 lbs. July 15, 2008: "Osprey" fished at the Chicken Bone today and caught 10 bluefin tunas and released 9 of them. July 14, 2008: " Osprey" went to the Chicken Bone and caught 10 Bluefin Tuna, keeping 2. "Fin-esse" went to the Hambone and caught 1 Bluefin Tuna. " Marli" went to the Hambone and caught 2 Bluefin Tuna. "The Zipper" fished at the Sausages caught 2 bluefin tuna and released 5. They also caught a mako. "Muff Diver" went to the Hambone and caught 2 bluefin tuna and released 4. "Reel Joy" had 1 blue marlin release and caught 1 dolphin at the Baltimore. "Billfisher" caught 3 dolphin and had 1 white marlin release at the Baltimore. July 13, 2008: Today "Muff Diver" went to the Hambone caught and released 2 bluefin tunas. "Billfisher" went to Masseys canyon caught 2 bluefins over 100 lbs and released one, and they also caught a dolphin. "D A Sea" fished at the elephants trunk and caught a yellowfin and a bluefin. "Marli" went to the Baltimore and caught 5 yellowfins, 1 lbuefin and 1 dolphin, they took home top honors for the largest amount of fish weighed in the OCFC Tuna Tournament. But the big news is "Marlin Magic" won the tuna tournament with the heaviest fish caught a 190 lb bluefin caught at the elephants trunk, they also caught 2 dolphins at the Baltimore. July 12, 2008: "Osprey" caught 2 bluefin at the Hambone. "Cyntinory" caught a bluefin at the Elephant's trunk. "Pipe Dreamer" kept a bluefin and lost a bluefin at the Hotdog. "Intrinsic" caught a bluefin at the Hotdog. "Pumpin' Hard" caught a bluefin at the Hambone. "Billfisher" caught a bluefin and released a white marlin at the Wilmington. "Marli" caught a bluefin, a yellowfin, a wahoo and 4 dolphin at the lumpy bottom. "Natural" caught and released 3 large bluefin tuna at the Teacup. "Evil Eye" caught a yellowfin at the Poorman's. 8. Its tournament time in Ocean City and this weekend the biggest Tuna Tournament of the year, the Ocean City Tuna Tournament out of the OC Fishing Center. Participation is good with 126 boats, just three boats shy of 2007 which had 129. I see this as good news considering fuel prices and the economy. Maybe it is not as bad as the media tells us. The bite really hasn't changed over the last several weeks with the Hambone, Hot Dog, Massey's Canyon and other inshore lumps producing loads of BFT, a decent amount of Mahi, and an occasional YFT. Yesterday, a 60# Cobia was caught on a blue white Ilander at the Hambone. I've heard of several other Cobias caught there as well. Most of the charters get their over and under BFT and a good number of the private boats are limiting out as well. It looks like there is some warm water fingers entering the canyon areas which should equate to YFT, Wahoo and Marlin will enter the area and hopefully stick around for the rest of the season. Here is the water temp shot for today: Sunset Marina Report 07-11-08: "Pumpin Hard" caught 2 bluefin and a dolphin at the Hambone. "Muff Diver" caught a bluefin at the Hambone. "Espadon" caught a bluefin at the Hotdog. "Cyntinory" released 3 bluefin at the Hambone. "Fin-Ness" released 5 bluefin and kept 1 at the Hotdog. "Pipe Dreamer" caught a bluefin at the Teacup. "Let it Ride" caught a bluefin at the Massey's. "Crystals's Caper" caught a bluefin and a dolphin at the Teacup. "Third Wish" caught a bluefin and a yellowfin at the Elephant's trunk. "The Zipper" released a bluefin and kept one just south of the sausages. Sunset Marina Report 07-10-08: "Sea Wolf" fished at the Hambone today and caught 1 yellowfin and 1 dolphin. "Cyntinory" also fished the Hambone and caught 2 lbuefins and 1 dolphin. "Marli" went to Masseys and caught 5 bluefins and kept 2 and 6 dolphins. 9. The inshore lumps continue to produce good numbers of quality over and under Bluefin Tuna. Mixed in the Ocean City boats are catching Mahi Mahi (so good you have to say it twice). The hot spots have consistantly been the Hambone, Hot Dog, Parking Lot, and Massey's Canyon. The inshore weather looks fishable for the next 5-6 days. Not too many boats are spending the money to fish the canyons right now, but I bet there is a good bite that nobody knows about. We are hoping for some new water coming off the stream which hopefully will bring yellowfin tuna, wahoo, and Marlin. The NC boys are on a pretty good wahoo bite at the moment and up north, there is a good YFT bite on that nice piece of water at the Hudson Canyon. It appears that a new eddy is beginning to form due east of the mouth of the Chesapeake - we will keep an eye on it and report later. As for Bertha, the hurricane is not a direct threat to North America, but indirectly, it'll generate waves which will head toward the East Coast. Let's just say, fishing may be SWELL this weekend and beyond. See projected path below: The Sunset Marina report on 7-8-08: The "Muff Diver" caught 1 dolphin and lost another. They also lost 3 bluefin while fishing at the Hambone. "Rhonda's Osprey" caught 1 bluefin tuna, 1 dolphin and one blue fish while fishing at the Hot Dog. "Espadon" caught 4 bluefin, releasing 2 at the Hot Dog. "Sea Wolf" caught 2 bluefin tuna at the Hot Dog. "Fin-Ness" caught 3 bluefin tuna, releasing 2 of them. They also caught 1 yellowfin tuna while fishing at the Hambone. "Marli" released 6 bluefin tuna weighing 90-100 lbs. They kept one bluefin weighing 163 lbs. He also caught 2 yellowfin tuna and 4 gafer dolphin. They were fishing East of the Hambone. The Sunset Marina report on 7-9-08: Today the "Osprey" went to the Hambone and caught 6 bluefins, kept 1 and released 5, they also caught 2 dolphins. 3-Day combined water temps: Inshore Weather: TODAY NW WINDS 10 TO 15 KT...BECOMING VARIABLE 5 TO 10 KT THIS AFTERNOON. 10. The Bluefin bite is still going strong at Masseys Canyon, Parking Lot, Lumpy Bottom and the Hot Dog. We are keeping a weather eye on Bertha. She might push some good fish our way. See storm track below. Here is the report from Sunset Marina for Monday 7-7-08 "Osprey" went to Masey's caught 9 Bluefin Tuna with 1 keeper, 2 King Mackeral, 1 Dolphin and 1 Shark. 11. Bluefin Tuna fishing continues to provide steady action at the hambone, chickenbone, Massey’s canyon, Parking Lot and the Hot Dog. Bigger fish to 150# showed up with the biggest fish at 162#. This is good news for the anglers fishing the OC tuna Tourney for this weekend. Yellowfin Tuna fishing improved over the weekend. Sunday boats fishing deep in the Baltimore Canyon landed fish in the 40-60# range. Mixed in the tuna bite were gaffer dolphin to 30#. The Sunset Marina Report 7-6-08: "Xiphias" caught 12 mahi and a bluefin at the Hambone. "Zipper" caught a bluefin at the Parking Lot. "Crystals Caper" caught a bluefin at the Hambone. "Sea Wolf" caught a bluefin, 3 bluefish and 2 dolphin at the Hot Dog. "Marli" released several bluefin and kept 1 and a dolphin at the Hambone. Sunset Marina Report 7-5-08: "Osprey" fished the Hotdog today and released 6 bluefin, kept 2 and a dolphin. "Clear Shot" was at the Hambone and caught a bluefin, 2 dolphin and 10 bluefish. 12. Bluefin Tuna are continue to dominate the offshore scene. Bigger fish have shown up. Fish in the 70 lb to 100 lb range are in the reachable waters off Ocean City. The biggest fish topped the scales at over 140 lb. Our customers are reporting nice quanities of BFT at the hambone, chicken bone, parking lot, & Masseys canyon. A few yellowfin showed yesterday , the best of it was in the hotdog area,1 boat while bluefing hooked and landed a 63 lb cobia which was 3 lb short of the Maryland. State record. Bluefish have thinned out but are still mixed in with the bluefin catches at the above mentioned spots. We also hear that the Norfolk Canyon is holding some YFT as well as White and Blue Marlin. The weather conditions look fishable for the next 4-5 days. From the nicest Marina on the East Coast, Sunset Marina on July 4th: "Phat Boyz" released 4 bluefin and kept 2 at the chicken bone. "Fin-Ness" released 12 bluefin and kept 2 while fishing the hambone. "Osprey" released 7 bluefin and kept 2 bluefin and a dolphin at the Massey's. 13. No problem. I will see you on Friday and I will be in OC this weekend, but I do plan on sneaking out to the canyons for some off shore trolling. If anyone needs anything special ordered like the Fireline Crystal, just call us and we usually can get it in within a couple of days. Randy, your Avet will be the latest redesigned reel but it will not be in until next week. Thanks guys for all the input. I just ordered some straw and some Berkely Fireline Crystal, I hope I don't mix up the orders.
  14. We will get some of those Gulps in. Brice stayed in the Annapolis store. We went with straw, since one time I put hay in my yard to cover up some grass seed I put down and a few weeks later I had hay growing in my yard.
