  1. I'm sure the reports will start here pretty soon down near the mouth of the chez... I will assume VA reports will start around the beginning to mid April if not sooner. Depends on how the weather cooperates...
  2. Hey Bev, started to make it a go up that this weekend but friends came into town early Friday so dulled my plans for any fish'n. Good luck to everyone fish'n the tourney and I'll see you in a few weeks... Brian
  3. I have all my surf gear and la reels lined w/ 20lb pp and have been using it w/ no problems for the past 2yrs. Have landed several 35&quot+ stripers and a 49&quot+ drum last year w/ out any problem. No breakoffs, no lost fish and happily satisfied. Yes it can be expensive but I've never paid more than $80 for a 1500yd spool and it lasts a good while... We'll see how it holds up for my drum trip in a few weeks... just my .02c
  4. Added the pics on the first post for your viewing. Had a blast and was hoping for another shot before 07 but looks like a no show. Hopefully all will have a great New Year. Enjoy
  5. Had the option of taking Friday or Tuesday off for the holiday... so Friday it is. Headed out to the Eastern Shore around 5ish.. stopped at the RT 50 bridge to toss some lures at 7:30, no takers... Headed over to Harbor Tackle around 9ish for some bait and convo w/ Bev... Bait on ice, report that big blues are still in the area and maybe a striper or two, my hopes are high. Arrived ORV area to deflatulate (lol) the tires and head to the ole honey hole. In route I see a gent get'n some nice pullage and decided to hang a sec to see what the trophy was. A minute or so later a nice chomper looked to be around 30++. He stated that was his second of the morning. Geared up and headed on down, only a few folks fishing.. weather was nice.. a little overcast but gorgeous none the least. Backed in and jumped out to get one rod in the drink just in case there were a few feesh hangin around. First rod in the drink about 10ish and set'n up the other two. As I'm tying another hook, WHAM!!! rod bows over (rod in the drink less than 5mins) and after a nice little battle fish on the beach - 31" blue. Baited back up and re-tossed... Finished set'n up the second and third rods, launched the second and was about to bait up the third and WHAM!!! first rod bows over again.. 28" blue.. looks like they're still here. 3rd rod in the water and walkin back to the truck.. WHAM!!! second rod bows over... 29" blue... 3 fish w/ in the first half our.. watch out now... Had several bow ups but fish shook the hook loose when reeling in... :BangHead: Well, switched from the 7/0 back to the 8/0 and didn't loose another fish. Noticed a lot of bird action a ways off in the distance, but as they came a tad bit closer the fish turned on and I kept this in mind once the bite slowed... Around 2:15 after a slight calm in action - I noticed birds again diving in the distance. Well I threw on some fresh bait and casted out on the two heavers... As I placed the second in the holder the first bows up and starts singing jingle bells so I join in on the carol and sing the lil drummer boi on in... 32" blue.. nice fatty.... Well just as I get this one on the beach WHAM!! my second goes off... bring that one and decide to unhook and recast the first.. heading back to unhook the other fish and my first goes off again.. and bending like crazy (spot head)... Man get over to the rod and this fish is fighting like crazy and given me a run for my money... Arms tired, but no rest for the weary.. a few minutes of battle and out comes a 33.5" nice chomper... Boi what a blast.. I lost between 7 and 10 fish due to the fish coming unbuttoned.. still managed 7 monster blues. The last coming when I was packing everything up. Cast out for a little finale. Hoped in the truck and turned it around facing the rod w/ the rain coming down a tad bit steadier... By the time I could put the truck in park... WHAM!!! another hit... Jumped out to land an ince 26" blue. Headed on out w/ some fish for the fam and time to do some shopping. All in all a great Friday and great end to 06'. Well, maybe We'll see if the Mrs' let's me out one more day... Hope everyone had a great Christmas and hopes for an even better and safe New Year... A few pics of the previous week's outing w/ the pup - Siris. He also joined me this week and had a great seagull run... LOL.. sorry for the delay on the pics...
  6. Hope so Coop... Plan on testing that theory this weekend. I'll be sure to post my report... Good or Great... :3some:
  7. Nice Feesh... hopefully I can get some of that action for this weekend... What area of the beach were ya feesh'n...
  8. For the report... Coop I'm with you on the shopping. The kids are done, now I have to get the Mrs' out of the way.. what a task that is.. Tiffany's, Vicky Secrets... Goodwill.. Salvation Army.... LOL.. I'm glad she doesn't visit this site... In hopes of hitting AI this weekend and maybe some big striper or blue action... I have my fingers crossed that it's a go...
  9. Haven't heard any good reports. Plan on heading to AI this weekend how has everyone been doing and how has the holiday shopping turned out for ya.. As for me... :dontknow:
  10. I've done very well during the Full Moon phase.. the water is a tad bit higher during the high and low tides which in my opinion brings the feesh in a bit closer. My first drum ever was caught the second weekend in October (full moon phase). Caught the biggest catch and size of croakers on a full moon. Biggest bluefish caught on a full moon. Caught the most keeper striper on a full moon... recently - 11-3 through 11-5 caught 5 stripers 22 - 25 in the ChesBay. Everyone has their opinion and I'm stick'n w/ the Full Moon does it big for me. Off the subject... heard some big blues are being caught up in Delaware, would that mean that there may be some big blues out at AI right now? Didn't mean to hijack your thread... just a question.
  11. CB... how do you like em... I'm thinking about pick'n one up to add to my aresenal...
  12. Hey Steve, I have 3 OM's (2 -12' and 1 - 10') all lined w/ 20lb pp. I use a 50lb pp s/l and did not have a problem pulling in a big ole red a couple of weeks ago. Granted I had the drag set or I don't know if I would be telling you of my success. Has worked well w/ me... also have spare reels set up w/ 40lb pp as well. Going to set one up w/ at least 80lb pp for Tog fishing the jetties or inlet. BTW.. has anyone tried out those OM Cape Pointes... I've been somewhat curious about them. The only exception that is that they do not have a corked handle but I guess I can cork it myself. Thoughts are welcomed...
  13. Yeah that "GRIN" is classic... ... To bad there's not an emoticon to represent the fullness. BTW.. went to the doctor and I was told that the "Hook" was permanent... LOL Thanks again all...
