  1. I have a 2003 F250 and run 285X75's on it. I air down to 20 on the beach and have no issues getting around. I have never been stuck....had a l ittle rouble once, but when I dropped the air down to 18, she walked right out. The 285's are taller and will balloon out more when you air down. The tires are Good Year Wranglers AT's. The Tread is not aggressive. They may not be the best tires for this truck, but I got over 80K out of the first set of these tires and have been using them since.
  2. The Reel you have is a boat reel. In my judgement it is not really suited to casting. The rod should work with an appropriate baitcaster, however if it were me, I would prefer something more in the 8/12 to 9 foot range for the jetty.
  3. With all due respect, I disagree on the offsetting the hook. Leave the hook as it comes from the factory. In my judgement, bending the circle to an offset position increases the probability of a gut hook fished and the circle is pulled back when the fish is swimming away. Use the point of your bait knife to poke a starting hole in the fat back while it is still laying on the bait board. The hook will easily pass through the starter hole. Assuming the bait is fresh and hook is sharp, it should easily puncture the skin on the other side.
  4. Bev and Terry. DO NOT THROW IN THE TOWEL. Out of the 67 (or however many) entries, how many complained? If all 67 complained, that would be one thing. My guess is that you if you polled everyone that fished, you might get 1 complaint. Shrug it off and move on. There were 2 of us in our camper. No complaints from us other than the only drum I caught came before the tournament actually started. We came to have fun and catch fish, not win money. And by the way, you are in business to make money and I for one wouldn’t have a problem with your taking a portion of the entry fee to cover expenses. These tournaments take a great deal of effort by a very few people. You are to be commended for putting it on. We had a great time and are looking forward to next year.
