  1. First of all Mark Ingram Jersey , Saints G Josh LeRibeus, who has now been placed on IR did not practice. The Saints sign G Chaz Green in his place. Leribeus was injured and left the game against the Ravens. Chaz Green was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys 91st in the 3rd round of the 2015 draft. He dropped during the draft for durability issues. Injured his hip during OTAs and started the 2015 season on the PUP list. Although activated from PUP 12-3-2015, the last 5 games of the season he remained inactive. In 2016 he was a backup swing tackle, starting two games. Against the 49ers he suffered a sprained foot, then a herniated disc, which required surgery, placing him on IR. 2017 wasn’t much better as a strained rotator cuff and hip bursitis, delegated him back to a backup role. In 2018 he struggled as a backup in Dallas to La’el Collins during preseason and was released by the Cowboys on 9-1-18.G/T Jermon Bushrod, whose one week old daughter passed away and C Max Unger (hand) also did not practice. T Terron Armstead (knee), WR Cameron Meredith (knee), LB Craig Robertson (hamstring), and DT Taylor Stallworth (ankle) were all limited. The good news is both S Marcus Williams (groin) and G Andrus Peat (concussion) were full go. For the Vikings, RB Dalvin Cook (hamstring), S Andrew Sendejo (groin), LB Anthony Barr (hamstring), CBXavier Rhodes (ankle), and G Tom Compton (knee), all missed practice. Limited were NT Linval Joseph (ankle/knee), and LT Riley Reiff (foot). WR Brandon Zylstra (neck), S Anthony Harris (knee), and LBKentrell Brothers (groin), were all full. Here comes Who Dey vs. Who Dat.Say what? The Who Dat folks from New Orleans go head-on with the Who Dey fans in Cincinnati on Sunday. And don't ask which group first came up with its catchy phrase and odd rendering of the English language."Who Dey? I don't understand. I'm baffled," says Saints running back Mark Ingram. "It's like, did they copy us? Or not? I don't know. Who Dat! Who Dat! Who Dat! ..."What anyone might ask is whether the Saints (7-1), coming off three huge victories, including handing the Rams their first loss, are ripe for a letdown. Drew Brees and company face Philadelphia next week."They're going to be hungry coming off the bye week," Ingram says of the Bengals. "They have playoff aspirations. They have aspirations of winning their division. So every game is important to them just like it is to us. So we're going up there in foreign territory, hostile territory, and we've got to go make it happen. We're a good team. We respect them but we're always worried about this building, this team, what we need to do to put ourselves in position to have success."It might be difficult for New Orleans to find a way to lose this one, though. In the past three games, the Bengals (5-3) have given up 481 yards to Pittsburgh, then 551 to Kansas City and 576 to Tampa Bay.Granted, those are three of the NFL's top attacks. The Saints are up there, too, so if Cincinnati gives up 500 yards Sunday Authentic Max Unger Jersey , it will become the first team to allow 500 in three consecutive games."We're underachieving right now," defensive end Carlos Dunlap admits. "We're playing well enough to win some games, which is why we're 5-3. If we work on the negatives, we can be that elite defense and that elite team."Right now, the eliteness is in the Big Easy"They go as Brees goes," Dunlap adds. "We've got to find a way to slow down that future Hall of Famer."The weekend began Thursday night with Pittsburgh's 52-21 home victory over Carolina. Ben Roethlisberger threw for 328 yards and five touchdowns to help the Steelers (6-2-1) win their fifth straight. The Panthers (6-3) had won three in a row.Off this week are Minnesota (5-3-1), Denver (3-6), Baltimore (4-5) and Houston (6-3).Dallas (3-5) at Philadelphia (4-4)For the Cowboys to stay real in the NFC East, they need a quick reversal of fortune. With four of those five losses coming on the road, a visit to the Linc isn't all that enticing. These teams meet on "Sunday Night Football" for the 10th consecutive season and 12th time overall. Dallas must find a passing game somewhere, and spring Ezekiel Elliott for some big plays, but the blocking unit has declined significantly. The defending Super Bowl champion Eagles are 17-5 at home under coach Doug Pederson. Carson Wentz has thrown at least one TD with no more than one interception in 21 straight games, tied with Matt Ryan for the longest streak in NFL history. He has a new target in Golden Tate. The wideout was obtained from Detroit, for which he had eight catches for 132 yards and two TDs vs. the Cowboys on Sept. 30.Seattle (4-4) at Los Angeles Rams (8-1)Coming off their first defeat, the Rams will remember they struggled to win 33-31 at Seattle last month. A victory would give LA a 4陆-game edge in the NFC West and pretty much shut it down. Both teams boast potent ground games, with the big star being LA's Todd Gurley. The Rams are No. 1 in the NFL with Gurley at 868 yards rushing; he also has 12 TD runs; he has scored in 12 consecutive games, the longest regular-season streak in team history. The Seahawks are tops in rushing since Week 3 with 159.8 yards per game after concentrating more on the ground game following an 0-2 start.Arizona (2-6) at Kansas City (8-1)The Cardinals are 0-4-1 at Kansas City, and this isn't exactly the best time to be visiting. Arizona has the NFL's worst offense and ranks 31st in pass defense. All the Chiefs do, with Patrick Mahomes, Kareem Hunt, Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill, is score, score and score some more. But Cardinals star receiver Larry Fitzgerald could make some history. Fitzgerald needs 33 yards receiving to pass Terrell Owens (15,934) for second in NFL history. Fitz needs 14 receptions to pass Jerry Rice (San Francisco, 1,281) for the NFL record for receptions with one team.Detroit (3-5) at Chicago (5-3)A very lopsided series recently in favor of Detroit, which has won nine of 10. Indeed, Chicago hasn't won an NFC North game in its past 10 attempts. But the Lions allowed 10 sacks 鈥?yes, 10 鈥?to Minnesota last week, and Chicago has an even better defense than the Vikings. The Bears also are decently balanced and rank fifth in scoring. Still, their calling card is on D, and they scored twice that way against Buffalo: Eddie Jackson's 65-yard fumble recovery and Leonard Floyd's 19-yard interception return.Washington (5-3) at Tampa Bay (3-5)The Redskins were routed at home by Atlanta last weekend and lost three key players, including both starting guards. Adrian Peterson has three consecutive 100-yard rushing games against Tampa Bay, including last year with the Cardinals. Can he find room to roam behind a makeshift offensive line?Tampa sure can pass and sure can score, but it often falls so far behind that it can't catch up. The Bucs have been outscored 103-27 in the first half of Ryan Fitzpatrick's past three starts, all losses.Still, Fitzpatrick has three games with four or more TD passes, the most in the NFC this season Sheldon Rankins Jersey Salute to Service , and has been much better than erstwhile starter Jameis Winston.New England (7-2) at Tennessee (4-4)Here we go again: New England is on a roll as Tom Brady makes everyone around him better. The Patriots have won six straight (seven in a row overall against Tennessee). Brady will play in his 300th game, including postseason, and will join Brett Favre (326) as the only NFL quarterbacks to appear in 300 games. Brady needs three TD passes to tie Peyton Manning (579) for the most in NFL history, also including playoffs.Tennessee comes off a solid victory at Dallas and coach Mike Vrabel had his biggest playing days in New England, where he won three titles."We've just gotten ourselves to the surface where there's a little bit of air, a little bit of water," Vrabel says. "You're kind of taking a little bit of both in and you can't survive there for long. But you can survive there for a few minutes. And so we got to make the next decision to see if we can get our heads completely above water."Atlanta (4-4) at Cleveland (2-6-1)Injuries seemed to ruin the Falcons' season, yet here they are at .500 and with six games upcoming against teams currently owning losing records. Matt Ryan is having an outstanding year, even while overshadowed in the NFC South by Brees and Cam Newton. With 13 yards receiving Sunday, Julio Jones will reach 10,000 in his career and become the fastest player to reach that milestone (104 games). The Browns have dropped four straight, and are 0-1 under interim coach Gregg Williams. But their .786 winning percentage (11-3) against the Falcons is the team's highest against any opponent.Los Angeles Chargers (6-2) at Oakland (1-7)Another guy not getting enough recognition for a superb passing season is Philip Rivers while Patrick Mahomes grabs the AFC West headlines. Playing the woeful Raiders shouldn't hurt Rivers' resume: He has completed 75 of 100 passes for 994 yards, six TDs and no INTs in his past three outings vs. Oakland for a 126.0 rating.Plus, the Chargers have won five straight for their best record at the season's midpoint since 2006.Meanwhile, the Raiders are such a mess that they have been outscored 55-3 over the past five quarters and are allowing a 113.9 passer rating, on pace for the worst in franchise history.Miami (5-4) at Green Bay (3-4-1)Somehow, the Dolphins are a wild-card contender despite being outgained by 704 yards and outscored by 38 points. Much of that can be attributed to the past three road games, in which they were outscored 107-47.On the bright side, Miami ranks first with 15 interceptions, including four last week against the Jets.Aaron Rodgers, of course, doesn't throw picks. Rodgers has thrown 15 touchdowns to one interception, leading the league with a 0.3 percent interception percentage. And RB Aaron Jones leads the NFL at 6.03 yards per carry.Jacksonville (3-5) at Indianapolis (3-5)Two 3-5 marks that look much different. Jacksonville has dropped four in a row and is among the most disappointing clubs in football. Indy is giving a decent accounting of itself despite a lack of talent. There's plenty of skill at quarterback, however. Andrew Luck, who missed 2017 with a shoulder injury, is back in fine form and has not been sacked in his past 154 pass attempts dating to the second offensive play against New England on Oct. 4. It's the longest stretch of his pro career.Colts K Adam Vinatieri will be honored for breaking the NFL's career scoring record two weeks ago at Oakland. Vinatieri needs one win to tie George Blanda (209) for most regular-season wins in league history.Buffalo (2-6) at New York Jets (3-6)With all that record scoring throughout the league, this could be an 8-5 snoozer.Sam Darnold has regressed behind center for the Jets and now has a foot injury. But let's be fair: Darnold has very little help, especially with versatile RB Bilal Powell on IR. Last year's starter, veteran QB Josh McCown, steps in.As for Buffalo, well, maybe getting rid of Tyrod Taylor wasn't such a wise move.New York Giants (1-7) at San Francisco (2-7), Monday nightThis isn't likely to be as much of a sleep-inducer as Bills-Jets. At least a national TV audience gets to watch Saquon Barkley, the most dynamic rookie to hit New York since Odell Beckham Jr. ?and without all the baggage.San Francisco has its own intriguing story after rookie QB Nick Mullens tore up Bay Area rival Oakland last week. Mullens joined Hall of Famers Jim Kelly and Fran Tarkenton as the only players with at least 250 yards passing, three TDs and no INTs in his career debut.AP Sports Writer Joe Kay and Brett Martel contributed to this report. 2. Weekend Content: Seven-Round 2018 Supplemental Mock Draft The 2018 supplemental draft is starting next Wednesday Authentic Thomas Morstead Jersey , July 11th, so I’m here to mock it with some Weekend Content. If you’re not hip to how the supplemental draft works, it’s basically a blind auction where teams submit 2019 draft picks for the rights to each of the available prospects. The highest-valued pick wins. There’s more to the process than that, which you can find helpfully explained here.Anyway, I’m trying my hand at a mock draft for the five prospects in this year’s supplemental draft. These guys are only available here for reasons that could tank their value in the regular draft process - ranging from academic woes to misfiled paperwork to failed drug tests and violations of nebulous team rules. So it’s hard to sell any of them as ready-made NFL products.I considered which teams have multiple 2019 picks to spend as well as whether they adequately addressed their needs through last May’s draft or earlier in free agency. For added Weekend Content, I plugged in several high-profile trades involving 2019 picks-for-players, to help give context into what teams may give up for supplemental draft prospects.Let’s get into it.First RoundEdge defender Marcus Davenport, Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners.I’m not letting this go.The Saints invested two first round picks in adding Davenport, and I’m going to explore what it looks like now that they’ve gotten him.So that includes the 2019 first rounder they exchanged with the Green Bay Packers to move up for Davenport.Reports from minicamps suggested Davenport was looking the part of a high-upside talent with a lot of work ahead of him, despite a minor thumb injury that shouldn’t linger into training camp. That forfeiture plays into the theme of the supplemental draft while introducing a new wrinkle:which other players were picked up around the league via 2019 draft picks?Second RoundCornerback Sam Beal, Western Michigan Broncos.Beal has gathered the most hype in the pre-supplementary draft process and seems to have the smallest collection of red flags; most criticism leveled against him has been focused on his weight Trey Hendrickson Jersey , having measured in at just 178-pounds at his pro day.Team reps have spoken highly of Beal’s football I.Q. and believe he can quickly contribute despite having missed offseason installs. He’ll have to jump right into the thick of it in training camp.To that end, look for a team with multiple picks late in the second round and a vacancy at cornerback to target Beal early:I like the Kansas City Chiefs. They’ve lost a legit star in Marcus Peters, and will need more than a very good slot corner (Kendall Fuller) and an ousted member of a bad Oakland Raiders backfield (David Amerson) to make up for it.Third RoundCornerback Adonis Alexander, Virginia Tech Hokies. The New England Patriots lost the Super Bowl to head coach Bill Belichick’s hubris in not playing Malcolm Butler, who left for the Tennessee Titans in free agency. The Patriots figure to land compensatory picks for Butler and left tackle Nate Solder, who signed with the New York Giants. While they’ve drafted a slot specialist in Duke Dawson, they need someone like Alexander to help fill in along with projected starters Stephon Gilmore and Jason McCourty.Alexander has a reputation as a knucklehead and is entering the draft after not receiving academic approval to play for VT, but has enough tools to compete in the latest iteration of the Patriot Way.Defensive tackle Danny Shelton, Cleveland Browns. The Patriots ceded one of their third round picks in 2019 so they could add one of the few good players left in Cleveland.Shelton hasn’t gotten after quarterbacks the way he was hyped coming out of college, but he’s consistently shown out as one of football’s best run-defenders.Shelton logged more stops at or behind the line of scrimmage (12) than any Saints defensive lineman (Cameron Jordan and David Onyemata tied with 10 each). He fills a huge need in the Pats’ interior rotation and could be a spiritual successor to Vince Wilfork.Fourth RoundLinebacker Reggie Reggie Ragland, Buffalo Bills.Kansas City shipped out a conditional fourth round pick in 2019 to save Ragland from Buffalo’s doomed Josh Allen experiment Authentic Cameron Meredith Jersey Salute to Service , and I imagine the former Alabama Crimson Tide star linebacker is happy about that. The Chiefs have siphoned a lot of talent out of their defense in recent years (including Peters, linebacker Derrick Johnson, pass rusher Tamba Hali, and nose tackle Dontari Poe) so they’ll need big things out of Ragland to help keep up the pace with an explosive offense led by promising quarterback Patrick Mahomes.Fifth RoundSafety Brandon Bryant, Mississippi State Bulldogs. While he put on a solid pro day performance, Bryant has done little to clear up the off-field questions that helped push him into the supplemental draft process.Bryant was an on-again off-again starter in Stark Vegas, but his lack of onfield discipline and accountability combined with untimely injuries kept him from ever really showing out.He should still get drafted, but I’d be surprised if his name is called early on July 11th.It’ll take a team like the Atlanta Falcons with an entrenched system and starters to provide little opportunity for in-game screwups for Bryant to succeed, and I think head coach Dan Quinn could find a way to get the best out of Bryant.Guard Laken Tomlinson, Detroit Lions. The San Francisco 49ers traded their 2019 pick for Tomlinson last August and this week signed him to a three-year contract extension that basically functions as a series of team options.Tomlinson has struggled with injuries and inconsistent play, appearing in just 47 of 64 possible regular games. He figures to start at left guard in the second year of head coach Kyle Shanahan’s regime as a blocker for ascendant quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.Like the other trades and early-bird picks discussed earlier Limited Taysom Hill Jersey , I’m counting this to help shape a different perspective on the supplemental draft process.Sixth RoundCornerback Johnson Bademosi, Detroit Lions. The Patriots traded last September to bring in Bademosi, who appeared in every game during their unsuccessful Super Bowl run.Bademosi made his biggest mark on special teams despite starting three games in place of injured free agent signee Stephon Gilmore.Bademosi played his way into a two-year contract with the Houston Texans, where he could find some action on the depth chart behind Kareem Jackson, Jonathan Joseph, Kevin Johnson, and Aaron Colvin.Seventh RoundLinebacker Bright Ugwoegbu, Oregon State Beavers.Successful defenses like the Minnesota Vikings avoid NFL-fringe athletes, and unfortunately Ugwoegbu fits that bill.By all accounts his pro day workouts went poorly after he weighed in at the size of a lightweight safety (6-foot-1, 205-pounds) and timed like a defensive lineman.Combine that with little production in college and you don’t see much to like here.Maybe some team does see potential in Ugwoegbu, but it would have to be someone used to zigging when the rest zag.Nobody makes questionable decisions like Cleveland Browns defensive coordinator Gregg Williams Marcus Davenport Jersey , and the Browns have picks to spare on prospects like Ugwoegbu.Running back Marty Carter, Grand Valley State Lakers.A surprise late-entry not announced until 10 days before the supplemental draft, Carter has shouldered the load in Grand Valley for two years but is another pro-hopeful after poor academic performance. He’s got some moves to his game and could find a role in the right situation, but it would take a team that hasn’t figured out its timeshare to make it work. The Indianapolis Colts are hoping one of two rookies (Nyheim Hines and Jordan Wilkins) can show enough to start while free agent signee Robert Turbin waits out a P.E.D. suspension and sophomore Marlon Mack returns from shoulder surgery. They may as well throw someone like Carter into the mix.You can find detailed scouting reports from’s Dane Brugler on both Carter and Ugwoegbu by following this link.So what do you think? Is the view worth the climb with any of the supplemental prospects in this year’s draft?Have teams justified the return on investments already made with 2019 draft capital? Are you not entertained? The Saints will face one of the only teams to beat them this year, and they may not have receiver Michael Thomas at full strength.Thomas missed practice on Wednesday with an ankle injury.Despite having 1,120 receiving yards on the season, Thomas added only 40 in last week’s loss to the Cowboys. He hasn’t registered 100 receiving yards in a game since exploding for 211 against the Rams on November 4.The Saints got some good news on Wednesday with the return to practice of tackle Terron Armstead, who hasn’t played since a November 11 blowout win over the Bengals. He was limited despite a lingering pectoral injury. Also limited was guard Ryan Ramczyk, who suffered a shoulder injury against the Cowboys. Defensive tackle David Onyemata (hip) also was limited, and fullback Zach Line fully participated despite a concussion. Custom Seattle Seahawks Jerseys
  3. Plenty of scoring and close games are good for business in the NFL.Teams are scoring at a record pace. The number of points (4 Limited Michael Brockers Jersey ,489), touchdowns (504) and touchdown passes (328) are the most in league history through six weeks. And, games are coming down to the end.Sixty-nine percent of all games (64 of 93) have been within one score in the fourth quarter. A total of 54 games have been decided by one score — eight points or less. That's tied for the most in league history at this point. There have been 28 games decided by three points or fewer, second-most at this point. At least one game has reached overtime the first six weeks for the first time since extra time was instituted in 1974."I don't think there has been a better time to be an NFL fan," Commissioner Roger Goodell said Wednesday. "The quality of the games and the enjoyment that comes with that, I hear it from the fans all the time — that is No. 1 for them. From our standpoint Joe Namath Jersey , we look at this as a great moment for us, the tremendous growth and the tremendous popularity of our game."One of the key factors contributing to the scoring output is the emphasis on calling defensive holding penalties. The total is up to 36 from 11 through six weeks last season. The increase in roughing-the-passer penalties and eliminating use of the helmet to initiate hits are also important factors.League officials also point to an influx of talented young quarterbacks. However, scoring could taper off once defenses make adjustments and weather could affect games later in the season. Here's a look inside more numbers going into Week 7:MORE THIELEN: Vikings receiver Adam Thielen has at least 100 yards receiving in each of Minnesota's first six games this season. Only Charley Hennigan had more with seven in 1961 for Houston. Thielen's 58 catches lead the NFL and he's on pace for 155 receptions.BREEZING UP: Drew Brees broke Peyton Manning's career record for yards passing last week and now is one TD pass away from joining Manning (539), Brett Favre (508) and Tom Brady (501) in the 500 TD club. The Saints visit the Ravens on Sunday.CHASING LT: Rams running back Todd Gurley has 11 TDs rushing and receiving. He's on pace for 29. Hall of Famer LaDainian Tomlinson set the record with 31 in 2006 for the Chargers.THE KICKING GOAT: Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri is 10 points away from breaking Morten Anderson's scoring record. Anderson had 2,544 points on 565 field goals and 849 extra points. Vinatieri has 2,535 points and already broke Anderson's record for most field goals. He's at 570 and counting.PAT'S STATS: Patrick Mahomes has 18 TD passes in his first seven career games. Only Kurt Warner (21) and Deshaun Watson (20) had more through eight.BIG PLAY TY: Mahomes' teammate on the Chiefs Nolan Cromwell Jersey Salute to Service , wide receiver Tyreek Hill, already has 14 career TDs of 50 yards or more. Only Gale Sayers (16) and Randy Moss (15) had more before age 25.Thursday Night Football open thread: Ravens at Bengals Hello there, LA Rams’ fans. I’m here to let you know that your team does not play football tonight. For that, I hope you accept my sincerest apologies. There will, however, be some football played. The Cincinnati Bengals (1-0) host the Baltimore Ravens (1-0) on Thursday Night Football on NFL Network in Week 2. Both teams won their matchups in Week 1 Jacob McQuaide Jersey , unlike those weirdos on the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers who did that thing where one team couldn’t score more points than the other team. Silly football teams. The Ravens absolutely embarrassed the Bills in Week 1, but Buffalo might be in the running for 2018’s worst team. The Bengals bested the Colts (also not very good) in Indy last weekend. So who ya got tonight? And if you’re not rooting for a team, do you have a fantasy football player in your lineup who’s a go this evening? I’m hoping that Alex Collins gets 400 points. This is where you talk.
  4. Signs are that the Chiefs receiving corps will be at full strength for Monday night’s game against the Rams.Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said earlier this week that there was a “pretty good chance” that wide receiver Sammy Watkins would return to the lineup after missing last Sunday’s game with a foot injury. Those odds are looking even better with Watkins taking part in Thursday’s practice.Watkins Gerald Everett Jersey , who spent last season with the Rams, has 39 catches for 515 yards and three touchdowns. Watkins has also run five times for 52 yards.Linebacker Anthony Hitchens, who was active against the Cardinals but didn’t play because of a rib injury, also kicked off the practice week on the field for Kansas City.Reid said that center Mitch Morse and safety Eric Berry would be the only Chiefs out of practice Thursday. Morse has a concussion and Berry has yet to play this season because of a heel injury.Los Angeles Rams training camp Week 3: Stock up, stock down After a miserable performance in preseason week one, the Los Angeles Rams rebounded with a win at home vs the Oakland Raiders.Let’s take a look at who showed up to play Nickell Robey-Coleman Jersey Salute to Service , and who didn’t:Stock DownQB Brandon AllenAllen was handed a whole half to operate and make hay, and it wasn’t pretty. Allen had a fourth-quarter touchdown to an open WR in Steven Mitchell, and threw the ball out of bounds. He also had a very bad interception staring down a WR and not noticing the underneath zone defender. Allen had some okay moments too, but it doesn’t look like he is QB2 worthy either.OT Darrell WilliamsAt first glance, I actually didn’t think Williams had a terrible day. He might have had a slip up once or twice, but this is more about the other offensive lineman playing great (Joe Noteboom Cooper Kupp Jersey Salute to Service , Jamil Demby) and less about Williams himself.QB Sean MannionOutside of one nice deep pass (47 yards) to KhaDarel Hodge, Mannion managed to complete nine passes for 37 yards. Talk about captain checkdown.WR Fred BrownBrown received playing time early and had multiple passes hit his hands that he couldn’t secure. He also struggled to create a lot of separation. Brown looks to be falling behind in the WR race with a few other guys performing well.Stock UpRB John KellyAlthough the statistics took a hit, Kelly once again had a solid day. He routinely churns his legs to create chunks of yardage, and always finishes his runs in a punishing manner. He scored his first NFL touchdown as well.WR KhaDarel HodgeThe model-turned-WR probably had the best day of anyone in a Rams uniform on the day. Hodge had a tremendous 47-yard grab down the right sideline on a go route. With the defender draped all over him, Hodge secured the pass and survived the ground. He had another reception for 10 yards as well, and a few more instances where he was open but the quarterbacks missed him.S Marqui ChristianChristian has separated himself as the sure-fire third safety in the pecking order. Not only that Authentic Tyler Higbee Jersey , but the Rams have had Christian on the field in dime packages as a sub-package linebacker. Christian was extremely active today, routinely making tackles both in coverage and in the run game. He’s tough as nails too, punishing whatever comes his way.S Afolabi LagudaThe undrafted free agent had at terrific day. Laguda was solid but unspectacular in coverage, though he showed a nose for the football often cleaning up runs that broke into the second level. Laguda showed a lot of range today and the ability to play from sideline-to-sideline.
  5. Bills vs. Browns: stock up/stock down The Buffalo Bills continued their 2018 preseason slate Friday night against the Cleveland Browns Authentic Marcus Murphy Jersey , coming out with a 19-17 victory. It was largely a down performance for the Bills starters, though the second string was able to dominate on both sides of the ball. Here are some of the players that helped themselves and some that failed to impress.Stock Up: QB Josh AllenThanks to both his positive play and the collarbone injury suffered by AJ McCarron, Allen has never been closer to being declared the team’s starting quarterback. Allen’s stat line, going 9-of-13 for 60 yards and a touchdown, belies how much his very presence seemed to re-energize the team. Before Allen entered the game, the offense had not earned a first down. The rookie marched the offense down the field and scored on his first possession. It’ll be hard for head coach Sean McDermott to keep Allen from starting after more performances like this.Stock Down: C Russell BodineIn a competition with Ryan Groy for the starting center job, Bodine’s effort on Friday won’t help his chances of winning. Bodine was absolutely dominated by Browns starter Larry Ogunjobi in both phases, leading to blown up runs and pressure on quarterback AJ McCarron. A miscommunication late in the first quarter between Bodine and Vlad Ducasse resulted in a McCarron sack. It may be time for the Bills to declare Groy as the starting center.Stock Up: RB Marcus MurphyMurphy continued against the Browns right where he left against the Panthers last week. The beneficiary of some good run blocking up front, he had four rushes for 39 yards. Important for his chances of making the team White Lorenzo Alexander Jersey , Murphy demonstrated strong play on special teams. He had several positive punt returns, one of which went for 39 yards. At this point, it would be a huge surprise if Murphy doesn’t make the final roster.Stock Down: OT Dion DawkinsThe Bills traded longtime left tackle Cordy Glenn because they had faith that Dawkins could lock down the blind side. While his rookie season was impressive, Dawkins uncharacteristically struggled last night against former number 1 draft pick Myles Garrett. Garrett’s speed and strength around the edge was just too much for the young player, who will quickly need to forget this poor performance and move on to next week.Stock Up: Taron JohnsonA surprise starter at nickel corner, Johnson’s effort and speed in tackling against the run in the first quarter was admirable. His coverage was solid as well, as evidenced by a third down play late in the first quarter when he successfully dropped into zone coverage against Jarvis Landry, forcing a throwaway from Tyrod Taylor. If Johnson can continue to emerge in the coming weeks, the coaches may be forced to declare him the starting nickel over veteran Phillip Gaines.Buffalo Bills injury report: Trent Murphy White Jordan Mills Jersey , Kyle Williams practicing on Wednesday Buffalo Bills defensive linemen Trent Murphy (groin) and Kyle Williams (knee) have returned to team practices, which is an important step to seeing them on the field against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. Bills head coach Sean McDermott announced that among the latest injury news for Buffalo’s roster on Wednesday morning.Every week during the regular season, the Bills must publish an injury report showing which players are hurt, and whether they were Full Participants, Limited Participants, or Did Not Practice from Wednesday through Friday. At the end of the week, the Bills also publish a report designating each player as either Questionable (could play), Doubtful (very unlikely to play), or Out (won’t play). (There used to be a Probable designation for players who were very likely to play Youth LeSean McCoy Jersey , but that was removed last year.)If Murphy and Williams continue practicing during the week, they’ll be favored to play in Buffalo’s defensive line rotation this weekend.McDermott also mentioned that receiver Ray-Ray McCloud (knee) will not practice today, and linebacker Julian Stanford (nose) will be a limited participant. When asked about receiver Zay Jones, who missed a large swath of training camp recovering from offseason surgery, McDermott noted that Jones “is ready to go.”
  6. Opponent preview: Houston Texans tight end Ryan Griffin When the Houston Texans host the Buffalo Bills Womens Kelvin Benjamin Jersey , DeAndre Hopkins will be featured heavily. You probably don’t need an opponent preview on him though, so instead we’re gonna look at tight end Ryan Griffin. Even star players like Hopkins need the rest of the team to help them out. The versatile Griffin is a quiet but necessary cog in the Houston offense. The starting tight end hasn’t seen less than 68% of snaps so far this year, and is averaging twice the playing time of the closest Texan tight end. Griffin has been limited in practice with a toe injury this week, but seems like he’ll play. If not, the Texans will look to replicate what he does, as seen below. Play 1The Texans love to have Ryan Griffin across the formation, whether it’s blocking or running routes. On this play he ends up blocking Jaylon Smith one on one. After the initial contact, Smith disengages and looks to go around the tight end. Griffin keeps Smith in front of him pretty well and Deshaun Watson has one less linebacker to worry about. Play 2Ryan Griffin and fellow tight end Jordan Thomas try to stop Demarcus Lawrence. Thomas loses the block and Lawrence slips behind him. Griffin is able to engage again and move laterally with Lawrence. This one goes down as a victory for Griffin.Play 3The Texans aren’t afraid to send Griffin out Youth Matt Milano Jersey , though his 20 targets this year suggest he’s not a focal point for touches. He saw nine of those targets in this game though, and there’s no reason to think he’ll be ignored when there’s a favorable match-up. The sporadic amount of passes thrown his way do mean teams can’t completely ignore him when he’s running up the field. He’s a decoy for this route and manages to pull one defender with him, making it just a little easier for the Texans. Play 4Overall, Griffin catches well but doesn’t have great chemistry with Deshaun Watson. A good number of passes thrown to Griffin have been off target, like this one. It can be very difficult to assess blame, but the pattern of inaccurate ball placement to Griffin can’t be ignored. Griffin snags this one with a little extra effort. Play 5Route mastery is not something to expect from Griffin, but he’ll do these for Watson well enough. Leighton Vander Esch misjudges this play which helps Griffin get wide open for the ball. Play 6Like above, don’t expect much more than this but Griffin wisely understands the cushion Leighton Vander Esch provides here. Because Griffin isn’t a burner Womens Zay Jones Jersey , he can make relatively tight turns to pair with his come back routes. Vander Esch is caught by surprise by this. Griffin’s lack of speed comes back to bite him as he’s tackled quickly after the catch. Play 7In addition to being a bit of a jack of all trades, Griffin has occasional lapses in his play. The initial contact with Leighton Vander Esch is good, but Griffin fails to finish the block. He stands upright quickly, losing leverage in the process. Vander Esch is able to slip into the lane that Griffin is trying to keep him away from. Play 8Griffin is set up to block Randy Gregory by himself. Gregory’s hesitation move leads to Griffin’s feet getting sloppy. Griffin stands upright like the last play and give up a lot of leverage. Additionally, Gregory is able to get his hands up near Griffin’s shoulders, which limits Griffin’s range of motion. With leverage gone and unable to hand fight, the results aren’t pretty. In ConclusionAt any given moment, Ryan Griffin can do his job well. The Buffalo Bills will need to account for Griffin. Both finesse and power rushers can find success against Griffin. Jerry Hughes Womens Kyle Williams Jersey , Trent Murphy, and Lorenzo Alexander all have variable skill sets that should be able to set something up against Griffin. Matt Milano will likely need to rely more on speed and finesse, and Tremaine Edmunds could have a strength advantage. In coverage, the Bills secondary could see him on any part of the field. Most of this group has the skill level to stay with Griffin. Bills fans shouldn’t expect to dominate Griffin, but a few impact plays through him shouldn’t be shocking. It’s not clear what the NFL has done to investigate the claim that Bills running back LeSean McCoy instigated an attack on his former girlfriend. It is clear what the NFL hasn’t done; it hasn’t even tried to speak to the alleged victim.Via Jenny Vrentas of, Delicia Cordon said at a press conference on Friday that the NFL hasn’t attempted to contact her.And that’s frankly just odd, unless the league has made a quiet strategic decision in the wake of last year’s Ezekiel Elliott fiasco to refrain from pulling the cord on the in-house criminal justice system unless and until it has no choice. In this case, with the official investigation sputtering (if it ever even got going) and with fans and media not clamoring for an explanation and aggressive action , the league may believe that it makes more sense to keep the situation contained by not investigating it, and in turn by not uncovering information that could force the NFL to do something about it.In many cases of this nature, the NFL has no ability to secure cooperation from alleged victims who decide not to push the issue. In the case, the alleged victim is ready and willing to tell her story. It looks like the NFL prefers to be ignorant, because a little knowledge could compel a lot of action.
  7. Packers’ tight ends flashed with “back-to-basics” 12 and 11 offensive packages If anyone felt the impact of the Green Bay Packers’ tight ends in the first half on Thursday night , it was Terrell Edmunds. The Pittsburgh Steelers’ rookie safety was no match on a red zone jump ball pass to Jimmy Graham. He later wiffed on a cut from Lance Kendricks after a quick pass in the flat. Chalk it up to rookie mistakes if you will, but the Packers’ offense was rolling and exposing the Steeler defense out of the “11” and especially the “12” personnel groups on the first three series of the game.In the offseason, Head Coach Mike McCarthy coined the phrase “back-to-basics” when describing the return of Offensive Coordinator Joe Philbin to the Green Bay offense. In its 2018 almanac, Football Outsiders certainly provided a few eye-popping stats from a season ago that would encourage Green Bay to take that approach, specifically with the tight ends. Green Bay played from the “11” package (one running back, one tight end) on 64% of plays, with a 11.2% DVOA. This was by far the Packers’ most-used personnel group. The Packers played from the “12” package (one running back, two tight ends) on just 11% of plays, but had an excellent success rate (21.9% DVOA). Green Bay was incredibly balanced with a nearly 1:1 run-pass ratio. No other packages produced a positive DVOA for the offense, with the “20” leading to an astronomically awful -40.1% DVOA. As FO highlighted, “the Packers went without a tight end on 6.7% of plays Bryan Bulaga Jersey , which was tied for second in the NFL. But this was not a good idea. The Packers averaged a miserable 2.7 yards with -53.5% DVOA on these plays.”From the first offensive possession, the return to basics proved lethal. After the Packers signed Marcedes Lewis in May, APC’s Tex Western imagined the possibilities for the Packers to run two tight end sets in creative ways to take advantage of its newest receiving weapons. On Thursday, the effects not only assisted those tight ends, but its number one wide receiver.Curiously missing since Philbin’s last Packer stint has been the inside slant that made players like Donald Driver, Greg Jennings, and Jordy Nelson home-run threats. The play was drawn forth from the shadows on the second play of the game as Aaron Rodgers connected with Davante Adams, who lined up in the slot, for a 27-yard gain deep into Steelers territory. It was a play from the 12 package, one in which the prized free agent Graham was put on the line with all other skill position players split wide including Kendricks and Jamaal Williams. And it certainly split the Steelers’ defense wide open with the ball in the hands of Green Bay’s best running threat after the catch. The Packers’ first drive took just five plays to score, with the Packers running out of the 12 four times. Green Bay’s lone other play came from the 11 Authentic Nick Perry Jersey , a scoring strike to Graham. The big-bodied weapon immediately created a mismatch while lined up in the slot and scored on a brilliantly designed play that isolated him with Edmunds in the left-center of the end zone. Last year, Green Bay had few threats that could pluck a ball out of the air in such a location. But the former basketball player Graham, with a 6’6” frame, long arms, and a strong vertical jump, was easily able to soar up and put points on the board. On the second offensive series of the ballgame, the Packers continued to use the 11 and 12 packages. Over a 10-play drive led by Brett Hundley, Green Bay utilized its 11 set seven times, taking advantage of Graham lined up alone on the boundary. In a position Nelson would have normally been in a year ago, Graham instantly became a matchup nightmare in one-on-one coverage. And even when not lined up outside, the Packers again found a way to isolate him Youth Davante Adams Jersey , this time with a linebacker who had no chance in coverage. It drew a downfield pass interference call midway through the drive. Employing a 12 package on the other three plays of the possession, the Packers relied on Lewis primarily as a run blocker while Hundley dinked-and-dunked down the field for an efficient five-and-a-half minute drive ending in a field goal. The third offensive series of the game also proved fruitful with the tight ends. Lining up in 12 personnel for four out of five plays (21 personnel for the lone other), the Packers’ tight ends made Pittsburgh pay on back-to-back plays. On the first, Hundley connected with Lewis on a 23-yard seam down the right hash. Like Graham before, Lewis’s size and reach stood out as he elevated for a catch that would have been hard to defend even if well-contested. Immediately after that play, Hundley hit Kendricks in the flat, only to cut away from Edmunds and run down the sideline for 15 yards to get into the red zone. Carving up the defense with two significant gains, the tight ends again helped pave the way for a touchdown drive. The final tally for the Packers’ personnel on the first three drives of 20 total plays was 11 snaps from the “12” personnel and eight plays from the “11.” Green Bay used the packages that they executed best a year ago and sprinkled in their newest targets at a position that underachieved last season. Graham and Lewis were used in the slot, on the outside, and on the line. Kendricks added the extra H-back dimension on several occasions. The Packers did not face a third-and-short or very long on those three drives which could have resulted in various other personnel. But the dominant usage and creativity of formations within the two popular packages was a welcome sign for an offense that tended to stall quickly in recent seasons. Furthermore, the additional production from Kendricks and the emerging Robert Tonyan later in the game showed the tight ends may once again be featured with more frequency and Mike Daniels Jersey , better yet, be a force to be reckoned with under McCarthy and Philbin this season. After 30 minutes from Lambeau Field, the Green Bay Packers lead the Miami Dolphins by a score of 14-9. The Packers scored on their first two offensive series of the game, which were sandwiched around a fumble by Tramon Williams on a punt return. Those two drives featured over 120 total yards from Aaron Jones, who broke off a 67-yard sprint on the second series before punching in a two-yard touchdown.Aaron Rodgers got the Packers on the board first, finding Davante Adams for a seven-yard touchdown early in the game.He finished the first half 11-for-14 for 98 yards and that touchdown; Marquez Valdes-Scantling leads the team’s receivers with four catches and 36 yards, while Jones has 8 carries for 101 yards and a score plus a pair of receptions for 27 yards. However, the Packers could — and probably should — be up by a bigger number. They coughed up the football on the aforementioned punt return, failed to convert a fourth-and-two attempt (a sack of Rodgers), and were pushed out of field goal range by a sack on their last series of the half. The Packers will receive the opening kickoff of the second half when play resumes. 8. The Green Bay Packers extended their early lead over the Buffalo Bills in the second quarter of Sunday’s game Cheap Jaire Alexander Jersey , as second-year running back Aaron Jones broke out on the team’s third offensive drive. After Jamaal Williams got the first series and Ty Montgomery was on the field for the second, Jones got the running back duties on the third series and instantly made an impact. His first carry went for 30 yards off left tackle, and he picked up another first down a few plays later. A 17-yard gain on a screen pass set up the Packers in great position, and Jones punched the ball into the end zone from three yards out:Jones finished the drive with 33 rushing yards and 17 receiving, accounting for more than half of the Packers’ yardage on that series. Now that each running back has seen one drive, it will be worth monitoring who gets the majority of the snaps moving forward. Jones certainly proved in the early going that he is the most explosive runner Cheap JK Scott Jersey , though Ty Montgomery picked up 43 yards on a wheel route out of the backfield. Jamaal Williams has just ten yards on three carries so far. If you could sum up the first three games for the Green Bay Packers’ offense in two words they would be “slow start.”The second halfcomeback against the Chicago Bears in Week 1 and the ill fated attempt to make a game out of it last Sunday against Washington illustrated the biggest challenge for Green Bay this far: sluggish starts in two of three games by the offense has put the team in a hole at halftime.Aaron Rodgers is playing on one bad knee and possibly two given reports he injured his hamstring on Sunday. He isn’t as mobile as he usually is. This means the Packers should be running a quick, dink and dunk offense as that has been proven to work since Rodgers got hurt in Week 1.Instead, as was on display against Washington, they tried to look for big plays to develop which in turn leads Rodgers to revert to his bad habit of holding onto the ball too long. As a quarterback with an injured leg you can’t do that and when the right side of your offensive line is beat up, you REALLY can’t do that. The word that must describe the offense going forward is “patience.” Chew up yards, be surgical and get the ball out of Rodgers’ hands as fast as possible. Can they adapt? Coach Mike McCarthy’s uncanny ability to cling to a script is his Achilles’ heel. It’s clear what works for the Packers now. They have to go that route. Sticking with what hasn’t is a fool’s errand. We’ll see what happens against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday Cheap Randall Cobb Jersey , but it’s safe to say not many feel McCarthy has learned his lesson. There’s more on the offense needing to develop patience as well as how Oren Burks made a big first impression in today’s cheese curds.Analysis: Green Bay Packers’ pinball offense must also show patience—PackersNews.comThe Packers will always live and die by their offense and the offense has to get used to playing shorter ball while Rodgers’ is hurt. Anything else is a risky proposition.Packers rookie WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling earns high praise for special teams work—Packers WireValdes-Scantling has been the only rookie receiver active for all three games and that isn’t an accident. His speed makes him dangerous on special teams and if he ever develops as a receiver the Packers may have another weapon on their hands.Rock Report: Unforgettable!—Packers.comBurks made an impression on his very first snap after missing the first two games of his rookie season. Larry McCarren breaks down Burks stopping an Adrian Peterson run where, had Burks not attempted the tackle, he could have made a big play.More Aaron Jones could mean less stress on Aaron Rodgers—ESPNJones only had seven carries against Washington. He’s clearly the best running back on the team yet McCarthy wants to continue with a “by committee” approach. That won’t continue long if Jones continues to make plays.Colorado cafe closed to ‘bear shenanigans’—UPIDon’t feel bad, Packers fans. Khalil Mack is wrecking everything, including a freezer.
  9. Wednesday Walkthroughs: Our favorite non-Rodgers moments from Packers-Bears Aaron Rodgers turning on god-mode for the second half was great Youth Antonio Morrison Jersey , but it’s important to savor every part of a Packers victory over the Bears as much as possible. We asked our writers to come up with their favorite non-Rodgers moments of the game. Here’s what they had to say.Shawn Wagner: Ha Ha Clinton-Dix’s third-down tackleI wrote about it earlier this week in my top five non-Rodgers moments of the game, but Clinton-Dix’s 3rd-and-1 tackle was an enormous moment for the team and the defense specifically. It created a momentum-keeping, three-and-out drive that later led to a second Packers touchdown to close the gap. In years past, this was the type of play in which a Packer defender would have overrun the ballcarrier, missed a tackle, or gotten dragged for a first down. I was ready to feel that sense of dread once again with nothing but open field ahead of Dion Sims on a throw-back pass. But Sunday night was a different moment. It was one in which the defense finally stepped up, not just on that one series but later in the game on another 3rd-and-one and, really, twice on the final Bears drive of the game. Six points allowed in the second half was a monumental confidence-builder for the defense, as three-and-outs were imperative in giving the offense time to catch up. Clinton-Dix, under pressure to have a bounce-back year, made a tackle that was among the most important plays of the ballgame.Paul Noonan: Jaire Alexander and the secondary on 4th downsUnder Dom Capers we all got used to opponents picking up soul-crushing first downs on 3rd and long or 4th and long. The Packers would frequently leave receivers wide open at the sticks, staying in their uber-deep “no big plays” defense while allowing the biggest play of the game to succeed uncontested. That was not that case on Sunday as the secondary stuck to their men like glue. On this 4th and 9 play that was ruined by Clay Matthews’ cherry on top of the poop sundae he’d already left on the field, Jaire Alexander stays with his man even though Trubisky buys himself plenty of time by scrambling, and Brice is over the top to help out deep. Bob Fitch: Bears using Leno as a Lame-o DistractionI love the oddities in football; unique players, unique plays, unique formations. This was a bit of all three combined into one.For those who missed it: Chicago lined up left tackle Charles Leno split out wide on the LOS with one receivers behind him and another to his right, also on the LOS.The intention, and actuality, was to spread Green Bay out and cause confusion about a potential screen. It ‘worked’ Youth Jimmy Graham Jersey , in that Chicago managed to pick up a few yards on the ground, and it also ‘worked’ in that it made me chuckle.I’m sure that pee-wee coaches everywhere picked up a pen and plotted a new play for their playbook. I mean, look at this - is this not fun?Evan “Tex” Western: Jamaal Williams’ blitz pickup on the big play to Davante AdamsAs many nave noted here, Aaron Rodgers led the Packers’ comeback, but it was the culmination of many individuals’ efforts that allowed him to execute it. One of the reasons for his ability to lead the comeback was the Packers’ pass protection keeping him clean. Perhaps the most dangerous play that Rodgers faced was on the 51-yard catch-and-run by Davante Adams. With Jamaal Williams split to the right of Rodgers in the shotgun, the Bears blitzed inside linebacker Danny Trevathan up the middle, shooting a huge gap between Corey Linsley and Justin McCray. Williams, however, had his eyes on Trevathan at the snap and stepped up into the hole, anchoring his feet just enough and stopping Trevathan dead in his tracks. Yes, it bought Rodgers just enough time to find Adams up the left sideline, allowing the receiver to rack up big yards-after-the-catch, but it was second-and-10 and not an absolute must-convert situation on that particular play.Perhaps most importantly, Williams stymied the best chance that the Bears had for a big hit on Rodgers after halftime, keeping his quarterback from being beaten up any further and ensuring that both the drive and the comeback attempt stayed alive.Jon Meerdink: Instant karmic retributionFacing a 4th and 4 from the Green Bay 37 in the second quarter, the Bears were late getting the play call in and had to burn their final timeout as a result. Mitchell Trubisky took it upon himself to quiet the Lambeau Field crowd on his way to the sideline.Though Trubisky and the Bears had played well to that point, Cris Collinsworth was quick to remark that perhaps Trubisky’s confidence was a bit outsized. It was. Here’s what happened the very next play.Maybe not quite Butt Fumble 2.0, but close enough for me.Prior to his gesture to the crowd, Trubisky was 10 of 11 passing for 111 yards. Over the rest of the game he went 13 of 24 for 60 yards amid what will be remembered as one of the truly epic collapses of the 2018 season.Analyzing the Packers Quarterbacks’ 2017 play by receiver route type The folks at Football Outsiders put together some interesting splits in the offseason, including quarterback efficiency by route. They present the data as a 12 distinct charts covering the 12 most common routes Cheap Clay Matthews Jersey , excluding swing-outs and dump-offs to running backs. It’s also built from receiving data, so interceptions are not penalized more than incompletions. I’ve compiled the information about Aaron Rodgers and Brett Hundley in a spreadsheet that you can see here. The data is interesting, and does support the notion that the Packers could stand to be more diverse and to focus more on what they’re truly good at. The most frequent routes resulting in targets for the team were the slant (Rodgers: 6.3% DVOA, Hundley: 11.1% DVOA), the curl (Rodgers: 5.4%, Hundley: 3.2%) and the out (Rodgers: -16.6%), Hundley: 4.8%). Together, these three routes accounted for 54% of total routes tracked. You’ll note that the Packers weren’t particularly successful on any of these routes, and Rodgers was positively poor on outs. The Packers were really a team that played average offense on their low-risk base plays while waiting for big moments. Rodgers blew people away on his handful of throws on post, dig, and drag routes, but nothing else really sticks out as a big positive, and there are some odd omissions from the tally. For instance, Rodgers threw only 5 seam routes, completing none. The article notes that Jimmy Graham was outstanding on this route with Russell Wilson last season, and its return to the offense would be welcome. Rodgers didn’t really air it out in general, throwing only 4 ineffective fly routes to go with those posts and seams. Hundley, for his part, wasn’t actually terrible airing it out, posting a positive DVOA on 15 fly routes and 4 fade routes; unlike Rodgers , he actually completed a few seam passes as well. However, Hundley really struggled on comebacks, posts, and especially on broken plays. The Packers spent a good chunk of the 2016 season relying on broken plays, and the Rodgers-Nelson combination in particular, but without Nelson playing well, production on broken plays cratered in 2017. Hundley was simply awful when things broke down, posting a -57.1% DVOA on 23 broken play passes. Rodgers was once the master of improvisation on broken plays, but he was slightly below average last season with a -2.8% DVOA on 15 such plays. Without the Rodgers-Nelson for most of the season or a credible deep threat, the quarterbacks just didn’t have ideal broken play options, and with McCarthy’s offense not doing the receivers any favors to spring them open, broken plays were common. Hundley wasn’t awful on most throws, at least for a backup, but when he was forced to improvise it was simply disastrous. The team also ran 34 wide receiver screens with neither quarterback succeeding. It was one of Rodgers’ worst high volume throws, and should probably be stripped from the playbook. With the overhaul at receiver it will be interesting to see if some of the deep routes rebound in terms of DVOA and frequency. The Packers were very reliant on short passes last season, but defenses played them well and kept their YAC in check. On rare occasions where Rodgers aired it out on a post, good things happened. The personnel is likely better overall this year than last, and with Joe Philbin back I suspect this chart looks quite a bit different next season.
  10. Buffalo Bills coach Sean McDermott addresses the LeSean McCoy trade rumors As the Buffalo Bills (2-3) prepare for Sunday’s important AFC clash with the Houston Texans (2-3) Womens Marcus Murphy Jersey , there has been rampant speculation that Pro Bowl running back LeSean McCoy could be on the move. During a press conference Wednesday, head coach Sean McDermott addressed the media about rumors that McCoy, Buffalo’s best offensive playmaker, has drawn interest other teams around the league. One of those speculated to be interested in McCoy’s services is the the Philadelphia Eagles, who lost Jay Ajayi for the season to a torn ACL in Sunday’s 23-21 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Before taking any questions, McDermott opened his press conference by addressing the McCoy trade rumors head-on, calling McCoy “a valuable member of our football team.” “LeSean is one of our better players. I thought he had a good game the other day. Really, we’re just looking forward to playing the Houston Texans Youth Marcus Murphy Jersey ,” McDermott said of rumors swirling around the trade of McCoy. “We get calls all the time, incoming calls happen all the time. Brandon [Beane] and I talk a lot, and I won’t go into any more detail than that.”After a slow start to the season (he also missed the win over the Minnesota Vikings with a rib injury), McCoy carried a season-high 24 times for 85 yards in Sunday’s 13-12 win over the Tennessee Titans at New Era Field. That matched his rushing production through his first three games of the season. In four games, McCoy has rushed 45 times for 170 yards, to go with 10 catches for 64 yards. He has not scored a touchdown in 2018. With the Eagles, the reigning Super Bowl champions, in a position to trade for a running back with Ajayi’s season-ending injury Youth Dion Dawkins Jersey , it makes sense for the Eagles to kick the tires on a trade for McCoy, who spent the first six seasons excelling in Philadelphia. Has McCoy heard the trade rumors or given any consideration to changing teams? “I heard about [the trade rumors]. I kind of just stay focused on the job, the task at hand. I’ll let that stuff work itself out. We’ll see what happens,” McCoy told the media. ”No, I just stay focused (on the task at hand),” McCoy continued. “I don’t pay attention to it too much, trade stuff and everything else. I should never have gotten traded (from Philadelphia) anyway, I was killing stuff Youth Corey Bojorquez Jersey , you know? I never really pay too much attention to it. This week, we’ve got the Texans; I’ll worry about that. They’ve got a good defense, a lot of big name guys on that defensive line. I’ve got my hands full this week. Last week was my first week of really getting out there and running. [I’m] just trying to get some rust off, get going, play after play. It felt good.” If it is true that misery loves company, then fans of the Buffalo Bills have surely come to the right place. 11. It's never been easier to score in the NFL.At the midpoint of the season Youth Mark Ingram II Jersey , the league is on pace to set records for most points, touchdowns and touchdown passes in a single season. Teams have scored 6,440 points, 736 touchdowns and 473 TDs in the air through Week 9.The increase in offensive production follows the lowest-scoring season this decade. Teams averaged 21.7 points per game in 2017. That's up to 24 points this season. A total of 12 teams are averaging at least 27.5 points per game led by the Chiefs (36.3), Saints (34.9) and Rams (33.2).There are several reasons scoring has soared. A combination of new rules and rule adjustments over the past few years favor offenses. The league has banned helmet-to-helmet contact, implemented a defenseless receiver rule and a body-weight rule against players making sacks, outlawed low hits on quarterbacks and emphasized illegal contact penalties. There's also been an influx of innovative, offensive-minded coaches?Sean McVay, Doug Pederson, Kyle Shanahan 鈥?and talented young quarterbacks ?Patrick Mahomes, Carson Wentz, Jared Goff, among others.Five quarterbacks ?Mahomes, Goff, Matt Ryan Youth Alvin Kamara Jersey , Ben Roethlisberger and Aaron Rodgers ?are on pace to throw for 5,000 yards. That only happened nine times previously in league history. Ten QBs have a passer rating over 100, double the total last season.Games are not only featuring more scoring but there's been plenty of close, down-to-the-wire action. Seventy-one games were decided by one score, eight points or less. That's the fifth-most through nine weeks. Thirty-seven games have been decided by a field goal, which was fourth-most at this point. Ten games have reached overtime and 36 teams have rallied to win or tie after trailing in the fourth quarter or overtime.Close, high-scoring games are exciting for fans, especially the millions who spend billions of dollars to play fantasy football. All of it is good for the league's television ratings, which are up after declining in 2016 and 2017.More folks are also watching by live streaming. According to a recent study from Conviva, a real-time measurement platform, NFL live viewing was up 72 percent in plays and 83 percent in viewing hours over the same time frame last year.Conviva's data shows mobile NFL plays were up 95 percent and prime-time NFL saw 109 percent growth in plays and 97 percent growth in viewing hours. Here's a look inside the numbers from the first half:PASSING KING: Drew Brees broke Peyton Manning's record for career passing yards last month. He hadn't missed any kick 33 yards or shorter in 300 tries his career. Although the Los Angeles Rams hadn't lost a game until last week, their spectacular season has featured several close calls. Not many were closer than their 33-31 victory just five weeks ago in Seattle, where the Seahawks racked up 190 yards rushing, intercepted two passes by Jared Goff and came agonizingly close to a huge NFC West win. With the second-place Seahawks (4-4) visiting the Coliseum on Sunday for the rematch, the Rams (8-1) have a chance to essentially end the division race with seven weeks to go. The Rams aren't looking that far ahead, but Aaron Donald hopes Los Angeles will learn from that narrow win in Seattle ?and a 45-35 loss at New Orleans last week."We're in a good place, and we're locked in," said the Rams' superstar defensive tackle, second in the NFL with 10 sacks. "We play these guys twice a year, so we've got respect for them. We've just got to get after them."The Rams have never lost back-to-back regular-season games in their 1 seasons under Sean McVay Color Rush Josh LeRibeus Jersey , but they've thrived primarily on the strength of an offense that has been able to outscore nearly every opponent, including the Seahawks. NFL scoring leader Todd Gurley rushed for three TDs in Seattle, and the Rams kept the ball out of Russell Wilson's hands in the final 3:38 by running out the clock. The Seahawks also are coming off a loss after the Chargers won in Seattle last week, but the Seahawks know they can beat the Rams because they did it last season at the Coliseum.Even if the division race might already be out of hand, they've got a chance to begin their playoff rally with a statement victory."We can't allow them to score as many points as they put up," Seattle linebacker Bobby Wagner said. "We feel like we did a really good job against the run for the most part. We have to find a way to do that, make them one-dimensional, make sure Todd doesn't get into the end zone as many times as he did."More things to watch in this NFC West showdown:TOUGH CHECKDonald has sacked Wilson eight times in their careers, more than any other quarterback. But Donald and the Rams didn't manage to sack Drew Brees last week, and they still have something to prove to the Seahawks ?particularly to guard D.J. Fluker, who wasn't impressed by the toughness of the Los Angeles defense in the clubs' previous meeting. The Seattle offensive lineman said the Rams "want to be pass rushers," but hadn't "seen a team go out there and actually take it to them." Donald had no interest in starting a public discussion this week: "We're just going to go out there and play a game and let our play speak for us."RUN AROUNDSeattle's impressive rushing performance in their first meeting with the Rams included 116 yards from Chris Carson, but he is in question for the rematch because of a hip injury that caused him to sit the final 2陆 quarters last week against the Chargers. Mike Davis and seldom-used Rashaad Penny probably would replace Carson. But Seattle also has offensive line concerns after Fluker injured his calf late in the loss to the Chargers. Fluker's addition to the offensive line helped spark Seattle's turnaround in the run game starting in late September.GURLEY GOESGurley has scored a touchdown in a franchise-record 12 straight games, and his 868 yards rushing are the NFL's most by a whopping 162 yards over Pittsburgh's James Connor.Gurley's 16 TDs this season are the most in the league and the second-most in NFL history through nine games, trailing only Jim Brown's 17 in 1958. That's the challenge facing Seattle's run defense Youth Drew Brees Jersey , which is giving up 4.8 yards per attempt 鈥?tied for fourth-worst in the league ?but has been effective in stretches.GET MARCUSFormer Washington Huskies defensive back Marcus Peters was targeted repeatedly by the Saints, and the Rams' top corner took the blame for much of Brees' success. The Seahawks undoubtedly saw the former Pro Bowl cover man's struggles on video, but Rams defensive coordinator Wade Phillips has limited options in the continued injury absence of cornerback Aqib Talib. The Rams' best solution might be increased pressure on Wilson, who has been sacked 25 times already this season.SAFETY PLANBradley McDougald has been one of Seattle's defensive standouts, but with a quick turnaround to facing Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers next Thursday, McDougald may end up sitting out against the Rams because of a bothersome knee injury. If McDougald can't play, the Seahawks would turn to second-year safety Delano Hill, which could create an extremely young secondary. If Hill starts, he would play alongside second-year free safety Tedric Thompson, second-year cornerback Shaquill Griffin and rookie cornerback Tre Flowers. Nickel cornerback Justin Coleman, in his fourth season, would be the veteran of the group.AP Sports Writer Tim Booth in Seattle contributed. NFL Outlet

Not surprisingly given how good the offense was in 2017, the Los Angeles Rams have plenty of players up and down the board.#2.) RB Todd GurleyA bit surprised JTG isn’t #1? Me too. He got nudged out by Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le’Veon Bell. Of Fake Teams’ seven staffers, three gave Gurley their #1 vote while only one gave it to Bell. The difference was that five staffers had Bell #2 while the four who didn’t vote Gurley #1 had him either #3 or #4. One of those staffers laid out the case in impressive depth here if you’re that dedicated of a fantasy nerd.Quibbling at this point as we all obviously agree Gurley is one of the best fantasy plays in the NFL this year , and if you’re a Rams fan with the #1 overall pick and you don’t take Gurley, you should sleep in a can. A cold can. Filled with bees.#38.) WR Brandin CooksThis seems awfully high for me.Cooks comes in ahead of Kansas City Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill, Steelers WR Juju Smith-Schuster and Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate who I personally expect to have better fantasy seasons not because of Cooks individually, per se.But the Rams have a lot of mouths to feed. You’ve got an offense with Cooks, WR Robert Woods, WR Cooper Kupp, Gurley and some combination of TE Tyler Higbee and TE Gerald Everett. Last year, Cooks had 114 targets with the New England Patriots, the lowest total of his last three seasons. Your 2017 LA Rams target leader? Kupp with 94. If we’re considering for fantasy implications the sheer simplicity of replacing now Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins with Cooks Authentic Aaron Donald Jersey , your new WR1 is coming into a role that received just 70 targets last year.I just don’t see how the Rams could get Cooks the volume of work required to make him a top 40 overall player without doing so at a severe detriment to the rest of the offensive pieces. This isn’t to say Cooks shouldn’t fare well. Or even be more efficient. But the sheer volume at work here is probably too much to invest in this highly. If you’re looking for the positive spin, it’s right here:#81.) WR Cooper Kupp#82.) WR Robert WoodsThe reason nobody should be upset with the idea of Cooks not being a top target is that the Rams’ offense is so well-balanced. Would you rather have a top 20 WR with your WR2 and WR3 well outside the top 100, or have (perhaps easily) three top 100 WRs? There are arguments both ways, but there’s no denying the quality of the Rams’ WR depth chart right now.And that’s it. So a couple of other thoughts, with an obvious one up first.QB Jared Goff not listedNot terribly surprised here. There are 11 QBs on their list, and with Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers, Philadelphia Eagles WR Carson Wentz and Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson all coming back from injury, I can see Goff getting edged out. Still, it doesn’t make me at all enthused to see:100.) San Francisco 49ers QB Jersey Cowpooperblow#4.) Arizona Cardinals RB David JohnsonIs this too high for a RB coming off of an ACL injury in that offense?#7.) New York Giants RB Saquon BarkleyThere’s no way I’m taking Barkley this year. He’s got a ridiculous skill sit Womens Ndamukong Suh Jersey , but the Giants’ line is soupy and I’m not terribly high on new Head Coach Pat Shurmur’s offensive system fantasy-wise. I do, however, think the Giants could be much, much, much better as a team this year.#17.) Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin CookSee above: Johnson, David.#32.) Washington RB Derrius GuiceSniff.Sadly, the Fake Teams crew put out these rankings before Guice went down with an ACL injury that will see him miss the 2018 season. Sucks. I was tabbing him as my 2018 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. The Great War on Knees continues...What else stands out to you from their top 100? Thoughts on their rankings of the Rams? Fantasy expectations? Who are your sleepers and busts for 2018?
  13. When injuries struck the Green Bay Packers at the most important position last season , head coach Mike McCarthy was either unwilling or unable to effectively manipulate his offense for Brett Hundley. Part of that failing must fall on Hundley himself, which is its own indictment of McCarthy’s coaching and evaluation of his backup quarterback. Hundley wasn’t ready for a job McCarthy said he was ready for and it cost the Packers. Now, with Randall Cobb dealing with a hamstring injury and Geronimo Allison in concussion protocol, McCarthy must acquit himself better in dealing with these key injuries. Aaron Rodgers doesn’t trust J’Mon Moore or Equanimeous St. Brown yet to contribute and rightfully so. Marquez Valdes-Scantling earned enough respect from QB1 to earn a couple targets in his first career start against Buffalo, including a beautiful 38-yard go route in the second half. But if neither Cobb nor Allison can go this week in Detroit, that basically leaves Davante Adams and Jimmy Graham as the only guys Rodgers has faith in to be where they’re supposed to be, and even the latter may not be on as solid a footing as initially believed in training camp. In short, the reporting of their instant connection may have been overstated as Rodgers has missed Graham open on a number of occasions early this season. The solution isn’t “sign Dez Bryant” no matter what Packers Twitter tells you. Moving Ty Montgomery back to receiver would present a major short-term headache and not actually solve any long-term problems for the Packers. That said, Montgomery’s versatility as a pass catcher could be exactly what this team needs with two of its top playmakers hurt.A beautiful concept, perhaps stolen borrowed from Washington turned into a huge play for Montgomery on a curl-wheel combination route. Jay Gruden dialed up a very similar scheme on the long Vernon Davis play at the end of the first half in Week 3. Montgomery has shown the ability to be a focal point of this offense, both on the ground and in the passing game. Now a running back officially, his presence doesn’t have to come at the expense of the other elite playmaker in the backfield, Aaron Jones. All it would take is borrowing a little from concepts the Packers have already used before under Mike McCarthy (so keep the “McCarthy would never do this” stuff to yourself. He’s literally already done it). Back in 2014, the last time the Packers truly threatened for a Super Bowl, McCarthy loved to play Cobb in the backfield as the solo back next to Rodgers in shotgun. It worked to varying degrees of success in 2013 and he brought it back with a wrinkle for the ‘14 season. Here’s the look from the Patriots game , inarguably McCarthy’s finest game as a playcaller and designer of offense. That’s Jarrett Boykin (!) behind Rodgers with Randall Cobb offset. The Packers used this same formation often that season, only with Lacy in the backfield and Andrew Quarless as the H-back. Played traditionally with the running back and tight end, defenses stay in base with linebackers on the field instead of defensive backs. Here, the Patriots have to go to a sub-package defense with light-tackling players like Darrelle Revis in the box. That should be advantage Packers. The success or failure of the play isn’t really the point. Make the defense work, make them think, and give them looks to have in their minds. On the other hand, imagine this same formation with Jones in the backfield behind Rodgers with Montgomery offset. If this give goes to Ty, he’s a much more physical presence than Cobb and has better instincts as a running back. The offensive line didn’t do a great job of creating space for the back, but that’s a flaw in execution, not design. Notice too, the safety Patrick Chung flies away from the play, concerned about Boykin on a pass fake after the handoff. That’s one less defender in an already light box. Give Donta’ Hightower credit for having this play all the way, but not all linebackers would sniff it out with ease. As noted above, the success or failure of this play is secondary to how it creates for the sister play. Here’s that same look later in the game. The Patriots defend it similarly, with sub-package defensive backs. This is a rare four receiver Cheap Aaron Rodgers Jersey , one tight end set. Most teams wouldn’t cover the tight end with a linebacker as New England does, but this was Jamie Collins at his versatile peak. For most teams this same formation would likely only have one true off-ball linebacker on the field. Instead of giving the ball, the Packers run the swing to Boykin, which works well enough. Remember how we didn’t care about the success of the first play? It’s not about the handful of yards Cobb got running it. That was to set this up. With a more explosive player making this catch, the Packers might really have something. Look how the linebackers react to the initial run fake: they fly to Cobb, leaving the sideline wide open. Boykin only manages six yards, but the plays is designed to get the two blocks on the edge with the receiver 1-on-1 with a safety if he’s not fooled by the run fake. Imagine if that is Aaron Jones rather than Boykin. And that’s where this formation creates so many advantages for the Packers. If a defense chooses to play Green Bay out of traditional defensive personnel, Jones is now on the edge 1-on-1 with a linebacker, assuming he can even get over the sideline to be in position to make a play. If they play a lighter personnel grouping, the Packers have a clear advantage running the ball. This same set of concepts might actually work even better with two running backs, because teams are likely to keep their linebackers on the field, robbing them of speed to the edge. One of the reasons the Patriots defended this so well was the extra DB on the field. Cobb and Boykin are two true receivers. Jones and Monty are true running backs. Green Bay wouldn’t have to run this specific play with its two best backs, but this is an example of how dynamic such a pairing could be. They don’t have to just go run the same offense with rookies at receiver. McCarthy already has the institutional talent, both scheme and personnel, to makeup for any losses at receiver.Packers awarded pass rusher James Hearns off waivers Youth Jamaal Williams Jersey , per report Even weeks into training camp, the Green Bay Packers continue to fiddle with their 90-man roster. On Saturday, the team successfully claimed pass James Hearns, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.Hearns, a 6-foot-2, 265-pound pass rusher from Louisville, went undrafted this past April, eventually signing with the Dallas Cowboys in May. The Cowboys waived him to make room for Joby Saint Fleur, leaving Hearns available for any team willing to place a claim. As the Packers’ roster already stands at 90 players, they will need to make a corresponding move in order to open up a spot for Hearns. With starting middle linebacker Jake Ryan set to miss the 2018 season after tearing an ACL last week, the team could place him on injured reserve and officially bring Hearns into the fold. Green Bay could instead decide to cut a player elsewhere, though that appears less likely.Hearns spent five years at Louisville, amassing 101 tackles (28 for loss) and 17.5 sacks. Hearns finished his redshirt senior season tied for the team lead in sacks with seven.
  14. In his brief tenure with the Buffalo Bills Youth Corey Bojorquez Jersey , Stephen Hauschka has already become one of the most clutch kickers in franchise history. During Sunday’s 13-12 win over the Tennessee Titans, Hauschka added to his legacy for clutch kicks, drilling a 46-yard field goal as time expired to lift the Bills (2-3) to the come-from-behind victory. Thanks to Hausch Money’s game-winning kick, the Bills posted just their third comeback victory on the final play as time expired in regulation. Hauschka’s eventual winner started out on a trajectory that seemed wide of the goalposts before the boot hooked right and sailed through the uprights, ruining the premature celebrations of several Titans players who thought the kick had missed the mark. The clutch kick from Hauschka joins Jim Kelly’s two-yard touchdown run Sept. 10, 1989 (a 27-24 win over the Miami Dolphins) and Rian Lindell’s 38-yard field goal Sept. 21 Womens Tre'Davious White Jersey , 2008 (a 24-23 win over the Oakland Raiders) as the only times the Bills earned a victory in come-from-behind fashion on the final play of regulation. In just 21 games in Western New York, Hauschka has converted on 36 of 41 field goal attempts (87.8 percent), including 8 of 11 from 50-plus yards. Last year, he set an NFL record for consecutive field goals of 50 yards or more when he drilled a 50-yard field goal in a loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Nov. 19, 2017. It was his 13th straight make from 50-plus yards. He was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week in Weeks 3 and 4 in 2017,the first special teams standout to earn Player of the Week honors in consecutive weeks for Buffalo. Just as everyone predicted Womens Josh Allen Jersey , the Indianapolis Colts used an unbalanced offensive attack to beat the Buffalo Bills. Just as basically nobody predicted, that balance was tilted in favor of their running game. The Colts ran the ball 37 times for 220 yards in their win over the Bills—the most they’ve rushed for in a game since 2007. For the second time in his two-year career as the Bills’ head coach, Sean McDermott’s team gave up over 200 yards on the ground. Both games were losses for the Bills. The first one being the 47-10 loss to the New Orleans Saints in Week 10 last season. The Bills entered their game against the Colts as the seventh-ranked rushing defense in the league according to Football Outsiders. They will likely drop considerably after this poor performance. The offense is clearly the major issue, but the defense cannot have games like this if the organization wants to win.

And today, the NFL announced that an agreement has been struck with developer Epic Games and a variety of NFL-themed items will be available for purchase including team uniforms:Other items available for purchase will include “football-themed emotes, harvesting tools, gliders, and even a referee outfit ,” according to the NFL press release. As far as the uniforms are concerned, the player gets to choose a number (1-99) and can be male or female. So yes, your dreams of wearing 69 in a Rams uniform can come true.Items will be available for purchase on November 9 when the item shop refreshes at 4 pm PT. Any further details are left to speculation until that time. It appears that only home uniforms are available (for what it’s worth, it seems like they went with the “throwback” colors for the Rams, based on what I can tell in the video). And when Fortnite ran a World Cup uniform event in the summer, multiple character styles were available (blonde-haired white male, brown-haired female, African-American male and female just to name a few) while the country and number were customizable after purchase. This would mean that Kansas City Chiefs fans could switch to a more appropriate team jersey after their inevitable first-round exit in the playoffs. Again , this is purely speculation from my experience playing the game. So, Ram fans, where is your favorite place to drop in? Gritty Gridiron? Pigskin Palace? Maybe even Lombardi Lake?
