The Minnesota Timberwolves cannot afford anymore losses if they hope to reach the postseason for the first time in 14 years. The Timberwolves face a must-win situation Friday when they visit the Los Angeles Lakers. Consecutive losses have dropped Minnesota (44-35) into the middle of an extremely tight race for the final playoff spots in the Western Conference. Minnesota fell to eighth in the West after losing at the Denver Nuggets 100-96 on Thursday night. The loss at Denver occurred four days after a 121-97 rout by the Utah Jazz at Minnesota. “We’ve got to do better,” Minnesota coach Tom Thibodeau told reporters after the latest loss. The Nuggets are also 44-35, but Minnesota holds the tiebreaker because they’ve won two of three in the head-to-head matchup so far. The teams also meet in the regular-season finale on Wednesday in Minnesota. In the meantime Sammy Baugh Jersey , the San Antonio Spurs, Oklahoma City Thunder and New Orleans Pelicans are each 44-34, one game in front of the Timberwolves and Nuggets with three games remaining. Big-time help for Minnesota should be on the way, however. Thibodeau said Thursday night there’s a good chance leading scorer Jimmy Butler returns after missing the past 17 games with a knee injury. The four-time All Star is averaging 22.2 points. Jeff Teague also returned against Denver after missing the Utah game with a sore knee and he finished with 15 points and six assists in 36 minutes. Derrick Rose also returned after missing the previous six games with an ankle injury but totaled just four points in 15 minutes and didn’t record and assist or rebound. “We need everyone J'Marcus Webb Jersey ,” Thibodeau said. “Everyone has to step up now. We need everyone’s best. We’ve got to play great intensity on every play.” Minnesota is 12-13 against Western Conference opponents on the road this season. They won their only other game against the Lakers at Staples Center this season, a 121-104 victory on Christmas. The Lakers (34-44) can play spoiler for the second consecutive game. They knocked off the Spurs 122-112 in overtime on Wednesday to keep San Antonio just inside the playoff bubble while also ending the Spurs’ chances at 50 wins for an 18th consecutive season. Rookie Kyle Kuzma continues to be one of the brightest lights for the Lakers this season. He scored 26 points in a 117-110 loss at the Jazz on Tuesday, then came back the following night and scored 30 in against the Spurs. Kuzma has four 30-point games this season, the most by a Los Angeles rookie since Magic Johnson in 1979-80. He already became the first NBA rookie to record at least 1 Justin Abdelkader Jersey ,200 points, 450 rebounds and 150 3-pointers in a season. “It’s fun watching him compete at that level,” Lakers coach Luke Walton told reporters after Los Angeles completed the first season sweep of the Spurs since 1997-98. Lonzo Ball was expected to be the most valuable rookie for the Lakers this season, but he’s missed the past four games with a left knee contusion and likely won’t play against the Timberwolves. He’s missed 26 games overall this season due to injury. Brandon Ingram http://www.officialsabres.com/authentic-adidas-jack-eichel-jersey , the second-leading scorer for Los Angeles at 16.2 points, missed the past three games because he was in the NBA concussion protocol and his status also remains in doubt for Friday. 2. Detroit Lions coach Matt Patricia walked briskly onto a field for his first NFL training camp in charge with a black cap Jack Doyle Jersey , black pullover and black shorts while a yellow pencil was nestled over his right ear. And, he didn't waste any time sending messages on Friday. Patricia pulled aside safety Tavon Wilson, one of many former New England Patriots now in the Motor City, to say a few words early in practice. Wilson, knowing Patricia expects everyone to always hustle, listened to what Patricia had to say and then sprinted to rejoin his teammates on another field. After speaking briefly with team president Rod Wood, the new coach tried to connect with as many players as possible as they stretched out and warmed up. He chatted with some, slapped hands with others and simply tapped helmets as he roamed with a bounce in his step and a smile on his face. During drills, Patricia spent time with many of the position groups to evaluate quietly or teach with words and gestures. While Patricia tried to sound businesslike in his news conference before practice, it was clear how fired up he was even before his white sneakers hit the green grass. "When you walk out on the field again James Neal Jersey , the painted lines, the fresh cut grass, all of that sort of atmosphere around it, it's exciting," he said. "If you have been in this game a long time, it takes you back years to when whether you were playing or first started coaching or even just a little kid running around." The Lions have been around .500 in recent years, winning nine games in each of the past two years after averaging nine wins over the previous two seasons. That was not enough for Jim Caldwell to keep his job with the franchise for a fifth season. The Lions fired Caldwell and hired Patricia shortly after last season, hoping some of what he learned as one of Bill Belichick's top assistants will rub off on a team with one playoff victory in 60-plus years. Even though Detroit made only subtle roster changes , linebacker Jarrad Davis said the major move made on the sideline may make an impact. "It can be a huge difference," Davis said. "The way he came in Jake Allen Jersey , honestly, just set the tone right away. You know, he came in, he laid down the law. He gave us the rules and he came in with energy. ... He came in, made it clear, gave us the expectations. And now we have something we can chase." Davis declined to say what the Lions are chasing, and Patricia has insisted he is only interested in talking about small-picture goals such as making the most out of each day. Even though Patricia has not ever led an NFL team, a veteran coach who gave him a pivotal opportunity many years ago believes he is ready. Detroit defensive coordinator Paul Pasqualoni, who hired Patricia as a graduate assistant at Syracuse in 2001, said he knew he would be working for a high-energy Roger Craig Jersey , bright coach when he accepted the offer. What he didn't know was how detail-oriented Patricia would be as a head coach. Patricia has a detailed planned for everything, Pasqualoni said, including the team's hydration and nutrition plan. "Until you work with him there's no way of knowing that," Pasqualoni said. NOTES: The Lions put LB Devon Kennard and DE Cornelius Washington on the non-football injury list. ... DE Ezekiel Ansah is on the physically unable to perform list. President Donald Trump praised an NFL policy banning kneeling during the "The Star-Spangled Banner," saying that "maybe you shouldn't be in the country" if you don't stand for the anthem. Trump spoke to "Fox & Friends" in an interview that aired Thursday. The policy forbids players from sitting or taking a knee on the field during the anthem but allows them to stay in the locker room. Any violations of the new rules would result in fines against teams. "I think that's good," Trump said in the interview that taped Wednesday. "I don't think people should be staying in the locker rooms, but still I think it's good. You have to stand proudly for the national anthem. Or you shouldn't be playing, you shouldn't be there. Maybe you shouldn't be in the country." Trump told confidants Wednesday that he was thrilled with the NFL's new policy, believing it vindicated his move last fall to call out the players who kneeled while suggesting that he planned to call attention to it again when the season starts in September, just months before the midterm elections Patrick Marleau Jersey , according to a person familiar with the president's conversations but not authorized to discuss them privately. Trump first seized upon the issue last September when called on team owners to fire players who followed former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick's lead by kneeling during the national anthem. During a September rally, he referred to an NFL player making a gesture during "The Star-Spangled Banner" as a "son of a bitch" who should be fired. The president's comments spurred a national conversation about patriotism and the nation's symbols and the use of peaceful protest. Trump, meanwhile, told Republican allies that he thought the culture war issue was good for his base even as he received some criticism for seemingly being more focused on the anthem flap last fall than the government's response to a deadly hurricane in Puerto Rico. Trump said in the Fox interview that he thought "the people" pushed for the new policy. "I brought it out. I think the people pushed it forward," Trump said. He added: "you know, that's something ideally could have been taken care of when it first started, it would have been a lot easier, but if they did that, they did the right thing." 3. An arrest warrant for New York Jets wide receiver Robby Anderson for skipping a court hearing stemming from an alleged Florida traffic violation has been rescinded. Broward County court records show a judge cancelled the warrant Thursday Womens Andrew Cogliano Jersey , two days after it was issued. Details weren't immediately available and his attorney, Ed O'Donnell, didn't immediately return a call and email from The Associated Press. The charge stems from a January incident in Sunrise, Florida, when Anderson was charged on nine counts. The original felony charge of fleeing and eluding police with lights and sirens active was reduced on April 7 to misdemeanor reckless driving. Anderson set career highs with 63 catches, 941 yards receiving and seven touchdowns in 2017, his second NFL season. Don't blame Ty for the tie. Browns coach Hue Jackson defended starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor on Monday as Cleveland's players, coaches and fans digested how a season opener that could have ended with the team's first win since 2016 turned into a painful 21-21 draw against the Pittsburgh Steelers 鈥?the NFL's first Week 1 tie in 47 years. Of course Henrik Lundqvist Jersey Kids , because this is Cleveland, where quarterback criticism is passed down through generations, much of the postgame blame was directed at Taylor, who completed just 15 of 40 passes, got sacked seven times and missed a few open receivers in his first start for the Browns. But despite Taylor's struggles, Jackson crushed any speculation he's ready to turn his offense over to rookie Baker Mayfield anytime soon. "He is the quarterback," Jackson said of Taylor. Jackson stiffened when he was asked what kind of leash he intends to have on Taylor, who was acquired in March from Buffalo and will start until the Browns feel the No. 1 overall pick Mayfield is ready. "Leash?" Jackson said. "We are trying to win. His job is to get the offense to play the best that it can play Gabriel Landeskog Jersey Kids , but it takes more than just him. I know the sentiment I am getting here is that it is him. It is not. "It is the offensive unit as a whole. Got to play better. Whether that is newness or whatever it is, I do not want to get caught up in all of that." Taylor had moments of indecisiveness Sunday, but that may have had as much to do with Pittsburgh's pass rush and an offense with several new faces, including rookie left tackle Desmond Harrison. But while supporting his QB, Jackson acknowledged that Taylor underthrew receiver Josh Gordon on a potential big play and he needs to be more accurate. "Improve, complete the ball," Jackson said when asked what Taylor needs to do for the Browns to win on Sunday at New Orleans. "Complete the ball. Complete the ball. I mean we have got to play better offensively, it is not just him. We have got to play better around him. He has to play better. We have to play better as an offensive unit. "We did not play very well yesterday Montae Nicholson Jersey , let's just be honest. We need to play better." It's almost inconceivable the Browns didn't win. Coming off a 0-16 season, they became the first team not to win with a plus-5 turnover differential or better since Arizona was beaten at Atlanta in 2012. And, according to the Elias Sports Bureau, teams with a plus-5 turnover differential or better are 132-4-1 since 1999. The beleaguered Browns have two of those losses and now the tie. For now, Taylor has the team's unwavering support. But it will be interesting to see if that commitment can withstand another subpar performance or two. One of the knocks on Taylor in Buffalo was that he often missed throws he should have completed, and that he was afraid to attempt passes over the middle. Jackson wouldn't pinpoint Taylor's problems in the opener 鈥?he led the team in rushing and ran for a TD 鈥?but made it clear the 28-year-old had better step up his game. "Not good enough," Jackson said. "What I am also saying in there is that it is not all him. Sometimes guys got to be in the right spot. Protection has to hold up for him. All of those things in a passing game make a difference. It is not just him. Does he have to do his job better? Yes. I think everyone around him has to do their job better, too." NOTES: Jackson said a "miscommunication" resulted in Gordon starting Sunday after the coach had vehemently expressed there would be consequences for the receiver missing three-plus weeks of training camp to address his sobriety. But on Cleveland's first play Ryan Nugent-Hopkins Jersey , Gordon lined up wide in a three-tight end personnel package. "The game's over with now, so to talk about it, what's it going to do? Nothing," said Jackson, who has turned play calling over to coordinator Todd Haley this season. "I've dealt with it. We move on." Gordon played 68 snaps, but was only targeted three times. His only catch was a game-tying touchdown in the fourth quarter. Womens New York Jets Jerseys
  4. The next phase of the Patriots’ Organized Team Activities begin today Authentic Melvin Gordon Jersey , and Tom Brady is not present. Brady, who has been working out on his own all offseason, remains away as on-field football activities begin at OTAs today, according to multiple reports. That’s not a great sign of harmony in New England. Although OTAs are voluntary and Brady is free to show up, stay home, or be anywhere else he wants to be, he has said in the past that he considers this on-field work to be valuable. The Patriots have added wide receivers Jordan Matthews, Cordarrelle Patterson and Braxton Berrios this offseason, and it couldn’t hurt for Brady to get some on-field work in with them. But if Brady thinks time spent with his own trainer, Alex Guerrero William Nylander Jersey , is more valuable than time spent at the Patriots’ facility, then Brady will stay home. There’s no worry about Brady showing up to camp out of shape, as he has always taken his physical conditioning seriously. But there is reason to wonder whether Brady and Bill Belichick are on the same page. George Iloka had just sat down to eat with his wife when the call came from his agent. The Cincinnati Bengals were letting him go. So much for that quiet day off. So much for all that time in training camp perfecting the scheme. So much for the only NFL team he'd ever played for. "But that's the business. That's what we kind of signed up for. Things happen. At the end of the day, you're just a number for the most part," Iloka said. Fortunately for Iloka, his first defensive coordinator was interested in a reunion. The Vikings signed Iloka, a former pupil of coach Mike Zimmer, to a one-year contract on Wednesday to add yet another accomplished player to what was the best defense in the league last season. "I'm comfortable with the system, the playbook. And this is a good team. They were real close last year. They were on the brink of making it to the Super Bowl," Iloka said after his first practice Tom Kuhnhackl Jersey , about five hours after boarding a plane for Minnesota. "I'm just here to help this team out anyway I can. My relationship with Zim, this facility, the kind of team that they have made it a no brainer." The Bengals released Iloka on Sunday to clear $5.3 million in salary cap space and make way for second-round draft pick Jessie Bates III to move into a starting role. Iloka was a fifth-round pick by the Bengals out of Boise State in 2012 and played two seasons in Zimmer's defense before the coach was hired by the Vikings. Iloka became a starter in his second year and started 76 games for the Bengals, with nine career interceptions. Credited by the team with 230 tackles over that time, Iloka is 10th on the all-time Bengals list in that category. "He's very smart. He's a good tackler. He's going to be where he's supposed to be all the time. He pretty much knows a lot of the things that we're doing," Zimmer said. "Most of the calls we went through today, he knew probably 85 percent of them." All-Pro Harrison Smith is entrenched at one of the safety spots. Andrew Sendejo has mostly manned the other slot for the last five years, starting 53 games plus three more in the playoffs. He'll turn 31 on Sept. 9, when the Vikings open the season against San Francisco. Naturally, there's a question now about whether Sendejo will celebrate that birthday in a purple uniform Charles Woodson Jersey , considering he's carrying a $3.5 million salary cap hit. With Anthony Harris and Jayron Kearse, the Vikings have two backups who've been in their system for two-plus seasons and contribute significantly on special teams. "This wasn't a move to replace anyone. This was a move to get as many good players as we can," Zimmer said. "He became available, so we were fortunate." That could be more than just coach speak from Zimmer, who has said previously he'd like to use more of his best players in different positions more often this year to maximize their impact. Smith, for example, could be used in a linebacker spot in certain packages. Veteran cornerback Terence Newman, who played with Iloka with the Bengals, has taken turns at safety. "Honestly, we're just trying to add good football players http://www.officialmapleleafsproshop.com/authentic-adidas-james-van-riemsdyk-jersey ," Zimmer said, "and it'll all sort out at the end." That's just fine with Iloka, who was looking forward to working with the hard-driving Zimmer again. "I grew up in Texas, and that's how my high school coach was. The linebacker coach at Boise State was the same way," Iloka said. "I'm used to that style. It doesn't matter either way. He just has a good defense." Womens Minnesota Vikings Jerseys
  5. The Browns parted ways with one veteran cornerback this offseason when they traded Jason McCourty to the Patriots and they could move another one this week. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Jamar Taylor could wind up on the trade block during this week’s draft. The impetus for such a move by the Browns would be the addition of another cornerback in the early rounds. The Browns currently own the first http://www.buffalobillsteamonline.com/kelvin-benjamin-jersey , fourth, 33rd, 35th and 64th picks. There hasn’t been much talk about using either of the first-round picks on a corner, although there’s always the possibility of a trade that brings players at that position onto their radar. T.J. Carrie, E.J. Gaines and Terrance Mitchell all signed with the Browns in free agency and 2017 fourth-round pick Howard Wilson is coming back from a knee injury that wiped out his rookie season. Briean Boddy-Calhoun is also on Cleveland’s cornerback depth chart. Taylor joined the Browns in a trade with the Dolphins in 2016 and signed a three-year extension before the year was out. He’s played in 31 games over the last two seasons and intercepted three passes. Amid chants of "Nova! Nova!" Villanova students and fans loudly welcomed their men's basketball team back to campus Tuesday night, a day after the Wildcats claimed their second national championship in three years. Players were treated like rock stars as they made their way into the ancient Jake Nevin Field House for a celebration. "What's better than this?" coach Jay Wright said as the crowd roared. Behind Donte DiVincenzo's career-high 31 points off the bench, Villanova routed Michigan 79-62 on Monday in San Antonio to win the school's third national title. Junior forward Eric Paschall held the championship trophy and the bleary-eyed players wore hats lodged with strands of the nets they cut down a night earlier. Jalen Brunson Authentic Jared Goff Jersey , the national Player of the Year, led the fans in a chant of "Di-vin-cenzo" before he was introduced last among the players. "The chances of a red-headed Italian with Rollie Massimino 'RVM' on his chest, coming off the bench to score 31 points in the national championship game," Wright said before the crowd drowned him out, referring to the late Wildcats coach who led the school to the 1985 title. The top-seeded Wildcats (36-4) won all six of their NCAA Tournament games by double digits, bucking the trend of upsets thanks to depth, buzzing offense and improved defense. Go Cats!" junior guard Phil Booth yelled. Rain forced the celebration to be moved inside from the football stadium Mattias Janmark Jersey , but it didn't dampen the enthusiasm at the Catholic school of about 6,500 undergraduates in suburban Philadelphia. The tributes began immediately as the Wildcats landed, when the Philadelphia fire department delivered a water cannon salute as their plane taxied. On their Main Line campus, fans, many of whom had a blue "V'' painted on their cheeks, stood in the rain in a line that snaked around the corner waiting for the doors to open. Included in the crowd was Ron DiPietro, class of 1972 Shilique Calhoun Jersey , who said he turns 68 Wednesday. DiPietro clutched a gray 1985 Villanova national title T-shirt on a coat hanger. "Too much firepower, well-disciplined, wonderful team," DiPietro said. "They blew everybody out, let's face it." The pep band and cheerleaders entertained the crowd before the team arrived. The balcony seats in the 1,500-seat arena were nearly full, with hundreds more on the floor crammed near a barrier to the stage. A banner hung that read "Congratulations 2018 men's basketball national champions." Fans yelled "One more year!" to both Brunson and Mikal Bridges as they were introduced by Wright. Neither player wanted to comment on their futures Nicklas Backstrom Jersey , but Wright indicated returning to school was wishful thinking. "We're going to talk about it this week with those guys," Wright said. "But both of them are going to graduate and both of them have a chance to become first-round picks." Next up, a parade Thursday in Philadelphia that will end with a rally outside City Hall as the region basks in its recent sporting success. The Eagles won their first Super Bowl two months ago. "I'm proud of the Eagles and I'm proud we're even part of it with them," said Wright, an Eagles season-ticket holder. "I'm really happy for the city of Philadelphia." 6. This offseason in Minnesota for Kirk Cousins has been shaped by get-to-know-them moments Melker Karlsson Jersey , whether new coaches, plays or teammates with the Vikings. Kyle Rudolph has made a sharp first impression. ”Boy, he’s a friendly target,” Cousins said one sunny afternoon last month after completing a pass to his strong-handed tight end during non-contact drills when he wore a wireless microphone to allow the team’s video production department to create a brief highlight clip for the website. ”It’s like throwing into a mattress.” The eighth-year veteran has been happy to oblige his new quarterback, trying to, well, be the best piece of bedtime furniture he can be. ”That’s a new one for me. I’m OK with it. Try to make sure that he’s always getting a good night sleep, always be there for him. That’s kind of my role around here,” Rudolph said on Tuesday after practice. Cousins recently described a play in a red zone situation when he looked at his two-time Pro Bowl tight end during his drop-back but sent the ball elsewhere. Quarterbacks coach Kevin Stefanski immediately offered some insight to the $84 million guaranteed man . ”In that situation, you might want to give Kyle a chance,” Cousins said, recounting what Stefanski advised. ”Even though he looks covered, you have to throw him the ball. He’s open. He can prove you right.” Having Rudolph available for drills with the first-team offense has been a welcomed bonus for the Vikings, considering he had surgery on his right ankle in February after playing through pain down the stretch of the season. Rudolph said he’s a couple of weeks ahead of schedule on his rehabilitation. ”We have a new offense, a new system, a new quarterback. I wasn’t getting any better over there by myself, so it’s good to be back out there,” he said. Rudolph is not only the longest-tenured offensive player on the roster Filip Forsberg Jersey , but he and wide receiver Adam Thielen are the only ones who joined the team before Mike Zimmer was hired as head coach in 2014. Thielen was on the practice squad in 2013. In fact, Rudolph, Thielen and wide receiver Stefon Diggs are the only members of the offense who’ve been here more than three years. Rudolph, who will turn 29 on Nov. 9, is coming off the most fruitful two-year stretch in the NFL. He had 81 catches for 532 yards and eight touchdowns in 2017 and, just as importantly, played in all 16 games for a third straight season. He’s endured more than his share of injuries going back to his college days at Notre Dame, and that helped minimize any anxiety that might have come with a procedure done at this stage of his career. Rudolph counted five surgeries in the past 10 years. ”It’s funny when you sit there: The nurses are getting ready for pre-op, and the doctors are talking to you. I honestly feel like I’m in the dentist office getting my teeth cleaned. It’s so routine, at this point,” Rudolph said. ”I think at times, your family and friends are more worried about it than you are.” With the skills Cousins has in completing play-action passes and new offensive coordinator John DeFilippo’s penchant for using his tight ends in all kinds of spots to maximize their matchup advantages with potentially cornerbacks and safeties, Rudolph is in position for another productive season. ”Obviously, he’s had great success with tight ends,” Rudolph said. ”What he’s able to do with all the playmakers and all of the chess pieces that we have on offense, it’s been a lot of fun to see.” — In the soundstage where Johnny Carson and Jay Leno spent four decades filming ”The Tonight Show,” a former Washington State computer science student named Seagull is pursuing a South Korean teenager with a very big gun. Their characters’ exploits inside Overwatch, the wildly popular multiplayer game not yet 2 years old http://www.dallascowboysteamonline.com/kavon-frazier-jersey , flicker above their heads on an enormous high-definition screen. Hundreds of mostly millennial fans in the renamed, sold-out Blizzard Arena put down their Doritos and roar for the combat between these six-player teams, eventually rising in ecstasy when the Dallas Fuel earn an unexpected point against the powerhouse Seoul Dynasty. Here’s the new Johnny. He plays video games for a minimum $50,000 salary, health benefits, a retirement savings plan and a chunk of $3.5 million in prize money. Esports history was made Wednesday night with the debut of the Overwatch League, the first attempt to present elite computer gaming within a traditional North American sports structure comparable to the NBA or NFL. The league’s 12 franchises represent cities from Shanghai to London, and they build teamwork and stress player development while competing on a weekly schedule stretching into summer. If the esports industry is still in its adolescence, this well-funded venture is a significant milestone in its maturation. The Overwatch League is about to find out whether fans will grow along with it. ”It’s a new frontier,” said Ari Segal, the president and chief operating officer of the Los Angeles Valiant. ”It is the biggest, boldest bet in sports and entertainment maybe since the NFL and AFL merged. Maybe since baseball introduced the designated hitter. I don’t even know what it stacks up against, because it is so different.” Segal had a career as a hockey executive before he moved into esports last year. He is one of many seasoned professionals from traditional sports and business who couldn’t resist the opportunity to shape the future of professional gaming, which has expanded with all the cohesion of a pipe bomb. Shortly after Blizzard Entertainment published this hero-based, first-person PC shooter to acclaim in 2016, the game developer announced plans for a league backed by deep-pocketed investors ranging from NFL owners Stan Kroenke and Robert Kraft to current giants of the esports scene. They might not all know their way around a mouse, but they know a growing industry when they see it. ”I come from traditional sports, and from the outside Preston Smith Jersey , it seemed like esports had grown up as this exciting, massive, organic, somewhat unstructured ecosystem that benefited from that fact, but was also held back by it,” said Pete Vlastelica, the president and CEO of Major League Gaming, which operates the league for Blizzard’s parent company. ”It felt to me a lot like boxing,” added Vlastelica, a former executive at Fox Sports. ”Anybody can create a circuit. Anybody be a trainer. Anybody can sign a fighter. Anybody can win a belt. But what’s the belt? I think boxing suffers from an ambiguity about whether any particular competition means anything, and it felt like that was really similar in esports.” The Overwatch League aims to end that ambiguity with traditional sports touchstones, and it made sense to the luminaries from sports, tech and business who dominate the list of investors. Kroenke, the billionaire owner of Arsenal and the Los Angeles Rams, also owns the Los Angeles Gladiators, who plan to be based within the vast entertainment complex around his Inglewood football stadium after it is completed in 2020. The Boston Uprising are owned by Kraft’s investment group, and they might end up based in Foxborough, Massachusetts Mark Giordano Jersey , to share some training facilities with the New England Patriots. The San Francisco Shock’s investor group includes Jennifer Lopez, Shaquille O’Neal and Marshawn Lynch. The Philadelphia Fusion are owned by Comcast Spectacor, and the New York Excelsior are the property of a venture capital fund sponsored by the Wilpon family of New York Mets fame. Many of the Overwatch League’s owners might not be gamers, but they understand the visceral importance of going to a good event. League commissioner Nate Nanzer is confident it will eventually harness income from ticket sales and concessions and other areas that haven’t meant much in esports so far. ”Why do people go to a Dodger game? You go because it’s more fun to sit with 40,000 other fans and cheer for a home run than it is to do it at home,” Nanzer said. ”Video games are so incredibly mainstream right now. It’s such a big part of our fans’ lives. When people play Overwatch, they play a lot of Overwatch. It’s a special moment to go share that with people who have the same passion as you.” Although the geographical specificity of the teams is an important part of their future business plans, those home cities are largely theoretical at this point. For this season and the near future, every team will live in the Los Angeles area and play all its matches in Burbank. Nanzer said the logistics of staging the competition around the globe were too enormous to be solved immediately. That’s not the only geographical dissonance: The Overwatch League’s only ”European” team, the London Spitfire, are owned by an American esports organization, and their roster consists entirely of South Korean players living in Los Angeles. 7. Cowboys wide receiver Terrance Williams was arrested early this morning. The Star-Telegram reports that police responded to a call of a vehicle accident at 4:45 a.m. near the Cowboys’ headquarters and found a 2017 Lamborghini had struck a light pole Jerrell Freeman Jersey , and the driver had fled the scene. Police ran the plate and found that the Lamborghini was registered to Williams. Police later located him riding an electric bicycle in a roadway, and when they stopped him they arrested him for public intoxication. The traffic accident is still being investigated and Williams has not been charged for that. Williams is currently not practicing during the Cowboys’ offseason program as he recovers from a foot injury. The NBA leads the way in men’s professional sports when it comes to racial and gender hiring practices, according to a diversity report released Tuesday. The league earned an A for racial hiring practices and a B for gender hiring practices for an overall grade of an A. That keeps the NBA ”significantly above” other professional sports, according to Richard Lapchick, the report’s author and the director of The Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sport. ”The NBA remains the industry leader among men’s sports for racial and gender hiring practices even with the increased grading scales introduced last season,” Lapchick said. The report states that the NBA league office has the best record for people of color in men’s professional sports at a 36.4 percent (357 of 980) employment rate. The league Roger Staubach Jersey , which was first to have three team owners who are people of color, had seven women who served as team presidents/CEOs during the 2017-2018 season – the highest among men’s professional sports. The report states there are also more NBA general managers and head coaches of color than in the past. The general managers who are people of color doubled last season from 10 percent (3 of 30) to 20 percent (6 of 30), which puts the NBA well ahead of other men’s sports leagues. That’s a big positive, Lapchick said. Nine of 30 NBA head coaches were people of color last season. But following changes at the end of this past season, one-third (10 of 30) of all NBA head coaches are now people of color. The same trend has trickled down to the assistant coach level, where the percentage of people of color increased from 45.4 percent (74 of 163) in 2016-2017 to 45.7 percent (79 of 173) this past season. Likewise Youth Corey Crawford Jersey , there was an increase in the percentage of people of color as vice presidents at the team level, increasing to 25.4 percent (148 of 583) this past season, up nearly six percent (86 of 442) from the previous season. Lapchick also said that in two of the other categories that were reclassified – team management and team professional staff – the percentage of people of color increased significantly from 23.4 percent (174 of 744) to 31.2 percent (771 of 2,469) and from 32.6 percent (976 of 2,997) to 39.5 percent (1,135 of 2 Stefon Diggs Jersey Big ,871), respectively. Lapchick had some concerns when it comes to gender hiring at the team level, a category which dropped for the third straight year. The percentage of women decreased for team vice presidents and team professional staff. Women who held team vice president positions made up 23.5 percent (137 of 583), a slight decrease from last year’s study. The percentage of women in team professional staff positions decreased by 2.9 percentage points from 40.1 percent (1,202 of 2,997) in to 37.2 percent (1 Tobias Rieder Jersey ,068 of 2,871). ”It’s something we are keeping an eye on,” Lapchick said. ”In men’s sports in general gender hiring is a major concern.” However, Lapchick said the NBA still outpaces other leagues in gender hiring. Despite those slight drop-offs in gender hiring, Lapchick called Commissioner Adam Silver and the NBA the ”industry leaders” among all men’s professional sports leagues in overall racial and gender hiring practices. — Tampa Bay Buccaneers Elite Jerseys
  8. The Chiefs were awarded tight end Alex Ellis off waivers from the New Orleans Saints and released defensive tackle Stefan Charles as part of a series of roster moves Tuesday. Kansas City also waived backup running back Akeem Hunt with a failed physical designation; signed rookie free agents Step Durham Authentic Odell Beckham Jr Jersey , Tejan Koroma, Robert McCray, Malik Reaves and Jordan Smallward; and waived Prince Charles Iworah, Devondre Seymour, Brandon Shippen and Nelson Spruce. The Chiefs have been searching for a blocking tight end to complement Travis Kelce. Ellis made the league as an undrafted free agent with Jacksonville before spending part of last season with the Saints. Hunt appeared in 15 games last season, primarily as a kick returner Shayne Gostisbehere Jersey , before going on injured reserve with an ankle injury in January. He also had eight carries for 23 yards. — Michael Conforto showed signs of ending a prolonged slump, and the New York Mets got some much-needed offense for a rare win Saturday night. Conforto homered for the second time in three games and drove in a career high four runs, Steven Matz pitched effectively into the seventh inning and the Mets beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-1. Conforto lined a three-run homer in the second inning, and that was all the support Matz needed against one of baseball’s hottest teams. Matz (3-4) allowed a run, six hits and a walk with three strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings. ”Trying to stay behind it a little bit, that’s the best way I can explain it Viktor Arvidsson Jersey ,” said Conforto, who was 2 for 29 over his last nine games. ”It’s something that I’ve been through before.” The Mets ended a four-game losing streak and have won just two of their last 14 games. The Diamondbacks lost for just the second time in nine games. ”Doing some things that we’d been talking about as far as basic baseball I think is big for us,” Conforto said. ”We know we’re better players than the product has been.” New York made it 4-0 in the third when Amed Rosario led off with a double and scored on starter Patrick Corbin’s wild pitch. The Mets had scored three or fewer runs in 11 straight games. Corbin got into another jam in the sixth but got some help from center fielder Chris Owings, who threw out Brandon Nimmo trying to score from second base on a shallow single. With two outs in the inning, Conforto doubled into the right-field corner to drive in another run. ”You give up three quick runs the way Matz was throwing, it was a little too much for us to play some catch-up Kyle Brodziak Jersey ,” Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said. Corbin (6-3) surrendered five runs and eight hits in six innings with seven strikeouts. ”Take a way a couple of pitches there, I think it could have been decent,” Corbin said. ”They just did a good job, made it tough. I got the pitch count up there a little bit and they made me work.” The Diamondbacks made it 5-1 in the sixth with Nick Ahmed’s double and Paul Goldschmidt’s RBI groundout. Arizona loaded the bases in the seventh against Matz and reliever Robert Gsellman, who rode onto the field in the Diamondbacks’ new bullpen cart. Gsellman got Ahmed to ground into an inning-ending fielder’s choice. ”Honestly, after the second inning it all clicked for me and I started feeling really good out there http://www.dallascowboysteamonline.com/michael-gallup-jersey ,” Matz said. The Mets’ Anthony Swarzak struck out the side in the ninth to end it. GREET THE METS Most of the right field seats at Chase Field on Saturday night were taken up by hundreds of chanting Mets fans in blue shirts representing a group called the Seven Line Army. It bills itself on Twitter as ”the largest traveling supporter section in baseball history.” The group went crazy as Conforto’s home run sailed into its area, and roared again when Conforto took his position in center field and waved before the start of the bottom of the second. The fans serenaded Mets pinch hitter Jose Reyes with a soccer-style cheer in the ninth while he was at bat. TRAINER’S ROOM Mets: Reliever Jeurys Familia is with the team in Arizona and is eligible to come off the disabled list Sunday. He’s been out with a sore right shoulder since June 7. Mets manager Mickey Callaway said he ”wouldn’t be afraid” to go to Familia in the eighth or ninth inning right away. … OF Jay Bruce is expected to be in Sunday’s lineup after missing the past three games with a sore back. … RHP Noah Syndergaard (right index finger) is moving closer to starting a throwing program. Diamondbacks: RHP Shelby Miller (Tommy John surgery rehab) made a strong start for Class A Visalia on Saturday night, allowing three hits in 6 2/3 innings with 10 strikeouts. … LHP Robbie Ray (oblique) will throw up to 70 pitches Tuesday for Triple-A Reno. … RHP Randall Delgado (oblique) is set for one inning of work for Reno on Sunday. UP NEXT Mets: RHP Zack Wheeler (2-5) is set for his fourth career start at Chase Field. He has 1.93 ERA in three previous starts. Diamondbacks: RHP Clay Buchholz (1-1) faces the Mets. 9. — The NFL’s active career rushing leader may still be a starter at age 35. Frank Gore is listed as sharing the No. 1 running back spot with incumbent Kenyan Drake on the first depth chart of training camp for the Miami Dolphins. Gore signed with his hometown team in March and was widely expected to fill the role of veteran backup. He’s awfully experienced for a feature back Luke Schenn Jersey Kids , with 13 seasons and 196 games of mileage. But that mileage translates into lots of yardage — 14,026 yards, to be exact, which ranks behind only Emmitt Smith, Walter Payton, Barry Sanders and Curtis Martin. And 10 practices into camp, Gore shows no sign he has lost a step. “I’m not surprised,” coach Adam Gase said Monday. “He’s just been proving everybody wrong for so many years. You just never doubt that guy.” Gase, Gore and Drake all described as no big deal the depth chart, especially one posted leading up to the first exhibition game. But Gore has enjoyed showing in practice he can still play. “I come out here and compete every day,” he said. “Not just with Drake, but with every guy at my position. I think we all push and help each other. With me Womens Paul Byron Jersey , whatever my coaches want me to do this year, I’m going to do it.” Drake could yet prove difficult to dislodge from the No. 1 job. He ranked sixth in the NFL last year with an average of 4.8 yards per carry, topping 100 yards in consecutive games after he became the starter in Week 13. “I don’t think anybody really cares about where they are on the depth chart before preseason even starts,” Drake said. “We’ve got to go out there and earn our spots.” Gore said Drake is worthy friendly competition. “Kenyan is a very talented guy,” Gore said. He’s smart; he can do everything on the field. I think that me and him can really help this team be successful this year.” That would be a change. The Dolphins went 6-10 last season, when they ranked 28th in both points and rushing. They expect to have a more potent offense this year with an upgraded line, the return of Ryan Tannehill and their new running back, who’s not new to the NFL at all. Gore has started every game since 2012. Last year he averaged a career-worst 3.7 yards per carry for the Indianapolis Colts, but they provided little room to run, and he did reach the 100-yard mark twice in the season’s final month. He was thrilled at the chance to return to South Florida, where he was born and raised and starred for the Miami Hurricanes. The homecoming makes even Thursday’s mostly meaningless game against Tampa Bay special to Gore, because he’s playing for Miami again. “Pop Warner Joel Edmundson Jersey , high school, college and now the NFL,” he said. “I want to do some great things for my city and for my team. I want to show guys that when they get up in age, if you love the game and you go out and work hard, it shouldn’t matter what age you are. That’s what my goal is this year.” If he starts, that’s a bonus. INDIANAPOLIS — With the Indiana Pacers unable to move up from the No. 5 seed in the Eastern Conference, the team will likely have a new look for the regular-season finale on Tuesday night against Charlotte. For the Pacers to have reached the No. 4 spot, the Cleveland Cavaliers had to lose back-to-back games to the New York Knicks. But after Cavs beat the Knicks on Monday night, Pacers coach Nate McMillan is expected to rest his starters and key reserves quite a bit against the Hornets. Rest might be welcome thing. “Yeah, I thought that they fought through some fatigue,” McMillan said of his players in Sunday’s 123-117 win at Charlotte. “Even though we won, I thought that we were flat for most of this game. We found a way to get some energy. I thought the bench came in and gave us a lot of energy and played well to help us get this win.” Pacers center/forward Domantas Sabonis scored a career-high 30 points. “My teammates were trusting me like always and I do my best to finish Brock Boeser Jersey ,” Sabonis told Fox Sports Indiana. “I love it here. It’s been a very fun year. I love my teammates, coaching staff and I’m just happy to represent Indiana.” Sabonis averages 11.7 points and 7.7 rebounds. “He’s always crashing the boards, plays well in the pick-and-roll, a very, very smart IQ guy,” Pacers point guard Cory Joseph said. After scoring below double figures for the first time all season Friday night with five points in a loss at Toronto, Pacers leading scorer Victor Oladipo bounced back with 27 points. The Hornets were plagued by 22 turnovers, and Charlotte coach Steve Clifford said in four of the last five games turnovers have been the difference. “I think we’re first or second in the NBA in taking care of the basketball, but four of the last five games we’ve had 17 or 18 turnovers, which is more product of playing more guys and something that you can live with,” he said. “So we did some good things. Those guys in the fourth quarter did a good job, so we’ll go there on Tuesday and see if we can put together longer periods of good play.” Clifford said he will start thinking about the offseason later. After the Hornets won four in a row Alex Burmistrov Jersey , they have lost five of the last six games. “It’s been important to me that we play these games well so in nine of the last 10 we’ve been pretty good, competitive and organized,” he said. “So we’ve been putting just as much into these games as we have all year and frankly you worry about the next season in the next season. “I want to win Tuesday and I want (the players) to, too. So I haven’t even thought about stuff like that.” Hornets rookie guard Malik Monk, who averages 6.5 points, has scored 20 or more points in the last three games. Clifford said Monk has gotten better with his pick-and-roll game and has been more efficient offensively. “The thing he is doing better is he’s making plays for other people,” Clifford said. Clifford has noticed Monk’s assists-to-turnovers numbers have been solid recently as well. “That to me is as much of an indicator as anything of the growth that he’s made in terms of learning how to play in a manner that both he can score and the rest of the guys can play well when he’s on the floor,” he said. “In this league at his size (6 feet 3), pick and roll is going to be a big part of it.” Oakland Raiders Jerseys
  10. ATLANTA — The San Diego Padres know they won’t be getting many innings from their first pitcher on Sunday. The Atlanta Braves hope that isn’t the case with their starter as well. Atlanta right-hander Julio Teheran will make his first start since being activated from the disabled list Saturday to face San Diego Ryan Nugent-Hopkins Jersey , which will use a bullpen game in the finale of the four-game series at SunTrust Park. The Braves (41-29) increased their lead in the National League East to 2 1/2 games with a 1-0 victory on Saturday that guaranteed the Padres (34-39) wouldn’t win a sixth consecutive series. Teheran (4-4, 4.31 ERA) came out after one batter in the fifth inning of a loss at San Diego on June 4 because of a right thumb contusion and hopes the rest during his DL stint will help him regain some of his lost velocity. The 27-year-old former all-star gave up three homers while losing his third straight start. His average fastball velocity this season is 89.2 mph compared with 91.4 mph last year. Even before jamming a finger while batting, Teheran’s fastballs were mostly in the 85-87 mph range against the Padres, and three long balls raised his season total to 14. “My arm has been sore,” Teheran admitted for the first time last Sunday while the Braves were in Los Angeles playing the Dodgers. “Obviously as a pitcher you have games where you don’t feel 100 percent. This year for me it’s been kind of up and down.” Teheran is 1-3 with a 6.11 ERA and eight home runs allowed in 28 innings during his past five starts. “Whenever you’re fighting through soreness Mathew Barzal Jersey , one day you feel good and the next day you don’t. You still go out there and compete,” he said. “I don’t think it’s a big deal. But working on it, we’ll see if this (next) couple of months we’ll get my velo back.” Right-handed reliever Matt Strahm (1-2, 2.55) will get his fourth spot start for the Padres as manager Andy Green turns to his bullpen to fill in the rotation spot left open by the hip injury to rookie left-hander Joey Lucchesi. Strahm has a 1.23 ERA in 7 1/3 innings as a starter after throwing three perfect innings in the Padres’ victory over the Cardinals in St. Louis on Tuesday. Submarine right-hander Adam Cimber followed Strahm with one-hit ball for three scoreless innings and the Padres won their second straight bullpen game after a victory over the Braves on June 6 in San Diego. “It’s got to be tough as a hitter,” Green said. “First J'Mon Moore Jersey , you have a lefty slinger throwing 95-96 (mph). Next at-bat, you’ve got a drop-down righty coming from underneath. It’s just two radically different looks, and it plays well off each other and keeps guys uncomfortable. By the time you’re up a third time, you’re facing a back-end reliever.” Strahm pitched a perfect inning in relief against the Braves two days before his start in San Diego, when he allowed a first-inning homer by Freddie Freeman but only one other hit in 2 1/3 innings of the 3-1 win by the Padres. Teheran’s 11-4 loss in San Diego gave him a 4-3 record and 4.13 ERA in nine career starts against the Padres. 11. A look at what’s happening around the majors today: BIG ARMS IN THE BRONX With slugger Giancarlo Stanton heating up at the plate Authentic Adrian Peterson Jersey , the major league-leading Yankees (49-22) go for a three-game sweep of visiting Seattle. Luis Severino (10-2, 2.09 ERA) pitches for New York against lefty James Paxton (6-1, 3.44), who is 5-0 with a 2.55 ERA since the beginning of May – a nine-start span that includes a no-hitter in Toronto. The Mariners have lost three straight for the first time since April 17-19 against the World Series champion Astros. STRANGE TO SEE Three-time Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer (10-3, 2.06 ERA) tries to avoid his first three-game losing streak since August 2015 when the Nationals host lowly Baltimore. He’ll hope to get some help on offense from slumping slugger Bryce Harper, who went 0 for 4 in a rain-delayed 3-0 loss Wednesday night, dropping his batting average to .209. Washington manager Dave Martinez said Harper has been working hard with batting coach Kevin Long. ”He’s going to hit. I know he’s going to carry us for a month or two or for whatever,” Martinez said. DOCTOR’S APPOINTMENT Cardinals right-hander Michael Wacha (8-2, 3.20 ERA) is scheduled for an MRI after exiting Wednesday’s start with a left oblique strain. ”Feeling a little bit better,” he said following the game. ”I’m hoping for the best.” Carlos Martinez (3-3, 2.73) pitches for St. Louis in the opener of a four-game set at Milwaukee. He is 6-4 with a 1.95 ERA against the Brewers. Slumping outfielder Ryan Braun is expected to rejoin the Brewers after the team sent him to Los Angeles on Wednesday for treatment on his achy right thumb. The six-time All-Star is hitting just .236 with eight home runs and 31 RBIs. SEEKING HIS FIRST WIN Giants ace Madison Bumgarner (0-2, 4.67 ERA) pitches at home against last-place San Diego, which has dropped four straight. Bumgarner missed the first two months of the season with a broken pinkie. He has lost four in a row to the Padres, who counter with Tyson Ross (5-4, 3.51). Meanwhile Youth Cam Newton Jersey , San Francisco right-hander Jeff Samardzija (shoulder tightness) is set to make his second rehab start with Triple-A Sacramento. READY TO GO White Sox outfielder Avisail Garcia (right hamstring strain) could return to the lineup against Oakland in the opener of a four-game series. Garcia was hitting .333 with two home runs and seven RBIs during a six-game rehab stint with Triple-A Charlotte. He batted .330 with 18 homers and 80 RBIs last season, making his first All-Star team. COMING UP EMPTY Boston will be looking for a couple of clutch hits against the Minnesota Twins in the finale of its road trip. The Red Sox were 0 for 9 with runners in scoring position Wednesday and are 2 for 22 in the first two games of the series. They stranded 18 runners in those two games and have lost four of five overall. Rick Porcello (8-3, 3.70 ERA) starts against Twins right-hander Kyle Gibson (2-4, 3.27), who has allowed only five runs over his last four starts spanning 26 2/3 innings. — After missing the playoffs for the first time in eight years, the New York Rangers are going all in on a makeover. Several star players were jettisoned at the trade deadline for youngsters and draft picks, there’s tough decisions to be made with free agents, and they’re seeking a new coach to lead the way. ”We all know there’s going to be some changes during the summer,” veteran goalie Henrik Lundqvist said. ”Part of me is a little excited about what’s ahead. I hope we take some good steps in the right direction. … Whoever is going to be here, we are going to compete and be sure to have a better year.” After a slow start to the season, the Rangers picked up their play but injuries to key players such as Chris Kreider, Kevin Shattenkirk, Kevin Hayes, Marc Staal and Mika Zibanejad hampered their ability to gain some consistency. Then, the retooling became a certainty in early February when general manager Jeff Gorton announced the team’s moves at the trade deadline would be with an eye to the future and not to save the season. Weeks later Authentic Eric Berry Jersey , Michael Grabner was dealt to New Jersey, Rick Nash to Boston, and J.T. Miller and captain Ryan McDonagh to Tampa Bay – with all going to teams that are in the playoffs. The Rangers closed the season losing eight of their final 10 and finished last in the Metropolitan Division – 20 points behind the Devils and Columbus Blue Jackets, for the two wild-card spots in the Eastern Conference. ”It’s been a tough season for everyone – fans, players, the whole team organization,” said Mats Zuccarello, whose first year in the NHL was right after the Rangers last missed the playoffs in 2010. ”I’ve never been in this situation before. It’s been a tough season mentally, lost a lot of good friends, but at the end of the day right now it’s over.” The lost season and resulting pivot to a youth movement cost coach Alain Vigneault his job when he was fired hours after a season-ending 5-0 loss at Philadelphia last Saturday night. The Rangers went 226-147-37 in five years under Vigneault, with a run to the Stanley Cup Final in his first season in 2013-14. ”We understand we didn’t get the job done,” Lundqvist said. ”When that happens, changes are going to happen. We had players leave, now coaches leave. We hoped and we expected more at the start of the season. Things happened along the way. … We were just not able to recover and changes were made and it was a tough stretch after that.” Gorton said he expects to interview five to 10 candidates for the head coach vacancy, and will consider anyone with coaching experience at any level. ”We’re looking for somebody with a progressive mind Womens Jordan Reed Jersey , that’s thinking the game, that’s watching the game and seeing what’s going to happen next,” he said. ”Just a good person, a good leader, somebody we can work with and develop young players.” Some other things to know as the Rangers head into the offseason: YOUTH MOVEMENT The moves at the trade deadline gave the team a chance to look at some younger players. Ryan Spooner, acquired from Boston in the deal for Nash, made the biggest impact with four goals and 12 assists in 20 games – nearly matching his production with the Bruins (nine goals, 16 assists). Teenage first-round picks Lias Andersson (one goal, one assist in seven games) and Filip Chytil (one goal, two assists in nine) were also given chances to play down the stretch and could make the team out of training camp in the fall. FREE-AGENT FRENZY? The Rangers could choose to hasten their rebuild with some moves in free agency, but that option may be hampered due to tough decisions to make with some of their own players. Spooner is among the team’s eight restricted free agents, along with Jimmy Vesey, Kevin Hayes, Brady Skjei, Vladislav Namestnikov Authentic Harrison Smith Jersey , Rob O’Gara, John Gilmour and Ryan Sproul. Also, Paul Carey, Cody McLeod, David Desharnais and backup goalie Ondrej Pavelec are unrestricted free agents and will not likely be re-signed. WATCH THE DRAFT BOARD The Rangers have stockpiled draft picks this year with seven selections in the first three rounds, including three first-rounders. This will make it two straight years with multiple picks in the first round after four straight years without any. Unless they win the draft lottery, The Rangers aren’t going to get Rasmus Dahlin. However, other strong defensemen that could be available include Adam Boqvist, Evan Bouchard and Noah Dobson. NEED TO HEAL UP In addition to the injuries that cost players time during the season, Zuccarello and Lundqvist both said they have been dealing with knee injuries throughout the season. Zuccarello said he just had some work done on his knee and will rest up for three to four weeks. Lundqvist plans to address his issue with doctors in the coming days so he can ”do all the right things to be 100 percent when I start training and preparation for next season.” — Follow Vin Cherwoo at Authentic Womens Rashaan Gaulden Jersey
  12. The San Antonio Spurs are not going to win 50 games this season Womens Ezekiel Elliott Jersey , nor have they been able to produce the game-to-game dominance in 2017-18 that has been commonplace during a two-decade run of NBA excellence. But the Spurs still have a chance to make the playoffs for the 21st consecutive year. That goal, no, accomplishment, can be reached with a win in one of their final two games, the first of which is Monday against the Sacramento Kings at the AT&T Center in San Antonio. The Spurs (46-34) took another step toward the postseason with a 116-105 win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday behind 28 points from LaMarcus Aldridge and 17 from ageless (actually, 40-year-old) guard Manu Ginobili. Ten of Ginobili’s points came in the fourth quarter, including eight straight in a 49-second stretch midway through the quarter that pushed the Spurs’ advantage to 101-89 and allowed San Antonio to cruise down the stretch. “I was just feeling good,” Ginobili said about the decisive sequence. “A couple of shots went in, and I was feeling that type of rush and that type of excitement. Flow, they call it. So I was trying to use it.” Ginobili hit all seven of his shots in the win, three of which came from behind the 3-point line. He was 4 of 4 from the field and 2 of 2 from beyond the arc in the fourth quarter. “I’m very happy that it happened again today in an important moment,” Ginobili said. “It made me feel good Womens Roquan Smith Jersey , and it helped the team get a lead and then rest of the guys that were in there the last five minutes were amazing both defensively and offensively, so very solid game.” Point guard Dejounte Murray added 17 points for San Antonio, Rudy Gay scored 16 and Patty Mills had 13 for the Spurs. The Spurs remained sixth in the Western Conference standings. If the playoffs started today, San Antonio and Portland would play each other in the first round. “Our team defense was good, tough cover,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. “Our big guys were at the rim the way they needed to be. Our smalls chased really well, so I thought our team defense gave us the opportunity to win the basketball game.” Monday’s game will be the regular-season home finale for the Spurs, who have won 32 of 40 games at AT&T Center this season, the third-best home record in the league. The Kings have an opportunity to put a monkey wrench into all of the Spurs’ good feelings with an upset. Sacramento can draw on the momentum it built Friday with a 94-93 win at Memphis. The Kings won when guard Bogdan Bogdanovic knocked down a 16-foot jumper with 1.1 seconds remaining. He then stole the inbounds pass to end the game. Willie Cauley-Stein led the Kings with 18 points, Buddy Hield finished with 14, and De’Aaron Fox and Justin Jackson each scored 13. Bogdanovic had just eight points but made the game’s biggest shot. “He’s struggled shooting the basketball, it didn’t seem like he had a lot of energy Womens Le'Veon Bell Jersey ,” Kings coach Dave Joerger said about Bogdanovic. “And he’s got the purest heart ever — he’s just exhausted mentally and so he kind of lost focus. We got him some good looks.” Bogdanovic said the games at this point of the season are a grind on his psyche and don’t give him the same feedback at the end. “It’s more mental because we’re out of the playoffs,” Bogdanovic said. “But we’re still trying to win and still trying to play the right way. It’s tough, but we’ll figure it out, and we want to finish the season strong.” Kings forward Zach Randolph missed his eighth straight game, the last four for personal reasons. Monday’s game is the road finale this season for Sacramento. San Antonio has won 13 straight games over Sacramento and has beaten the Kings 10 consecutive times at the AT&T Center. 14. Su'a Cravens has found happiness Womens Saquon Barkley Jersey , harmony and himself just in time for his do-over in Denver. Elated over John Elway's call and Von Miller's text, the former standout safety from Southern Cal celebrated his trade from the Redskins to the Broncos by posting "A Whole New World" from the Disney movie "Aladdin" on his Twitter account. "I felt like it was perfect," said Cravens, who missed all of last season and even mulled retirement while dealing with the lingering effects of a head injury. Selected in the second round of the 2016 NFL draft, Cravens played in 11 games his rookie season but he sustained a concussion in Week 4 and later suffered an elbow injury. He said he felt off-kilter heading into training camp last year, and things only got worse after he underwent knee surgery in August to repair a torn meniscus. Cravens had to be talked out of retiring in early September during a meeting with team President Bruce Allen, and the Redskins placed him on their exempt list, forcing him to miss the entire season. They sent him to see sports concussion expert Micky Collins in Pittsburgh, who had an answer for all of his mood swings Authentic T.Y. Hilton Jersey , personality changes and feelings that something just wasn't quite right: post-concussion syndrome. "I didn't really know what was going on until I went to see Dr. Collins and he made me fully aware of the situation," Cravens said. "At first I just thought that something was wrong with me, something's not right and I didn't feel the same. Once he explained, 'This is why you feel this way,' he'd ask me questions, I'd tell him, 'Yes,' and he'd say, 'Well that's a correlation to this.' Everything started making sense and once we started working on it progressively I got better and better." Cravens said he never lost his love for the game but did succumb to feelings his football career was finished. "Certainly. I was going through something that I wasn't even aware I was going through Womens DeSean Jackson Jersey ," Cravens said. "The mindset that I had last year was just completely different from how I am now. Once I got cleared, I took a step back and looked at the way I was acting and the way I was treating my loved ones. The way my whole thought process was, it was a stranger. "It was just crazy that I didn't realize that I was in a predicament I was completely unaware of. So yeah, there was a point that I thought I was done with football, but that love for it and that need to compete, that need to be on the field and be with your brothers, that never went away." Cravens even had to deal with accusations that he'd quit on his teammates. He was finally cleared in December and the Redskins began shopping him during the NFL combine last month. The Broncos essentially sent a fifth-round selection in this year's draft for the safety-linebacker hybrid whose instincts and athleticism wowed scouts two years ago. Cravens is eager to put his past behind him and start anew in Denver. "I think there's a false narrative on what exactly happened," Cravens said. "Right now my focus is just on being a Denver Bronco. One day I'll be able to speak a little further on that, but I'm not a quitter. I'm not a guy who lacks love for the game. I definitely don't know where the 'quitting in college' came from Youth Joe Flacco Jersey , but like I said, I'm here to play for the Broncos and do whatever I can to help this team win games." He sees himself as a strong safety but is willing to play wherever the Broncos feel he fits best in a revamped secondary that lost standout safety T.J. Ward last fall and elite cornerback Aqib Talib this spring. "I'm just grateful to be on the field," Cravens said, adding that last season made him appreciate his chance to play pro football and he has no qualms about getting right back into the fray. "We're all grown men and I know what I'm signing myself up for. I'm aware of the situation that I was in and I'm aware of the dangers of the game," he said. "I've experienced it firsthand and I'm still willing to go out there and put everything I have on the line. I wanted a fresh start just because I don't like the way things happened. It wasn't a part of my plan. I never thought at 22 years old that I'd be at the house watching football instead of playing football." The Chiefs have agreed to a three-year, $7.5 million contract with longtime punter Dustin Colquitt on Thursday, a deal that could ensure he plays the rest of his career in Kansas City. His representatives at CAA said the deal could be worth up to $9 million with incentives. Colquitt, who turns 36 in May, was a third-round pick of the Chiefs in 2005 Authentic DeSean Jackson Jersey , and has proceeded to have one of the best punting careers in franchise history. He’s appeared in all but two games over the past 13 seasons, earning Pro Bowl appearances in 2012 and 2016. The Chiefs expected to get a deal with Colquitt done soon after free agency began, and general manager Brett Veach alluded to it happening ”soon” when he addressed reporters Wednesday. Colquitt’s father, Craig, and uncle, were also professional punters, and his brother Britton spent last season with the Browns after six seasons with the Broncos. 15. From the start Harrison Smith Jersey Big , the Browns took chances in the NFL draft. After 0-16, what did they have to lose? Cleveland’s selection of polarizing Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield with the No. 1 overall pick was a major surprise, and the Browns followed with another shocker, taking Ohio State cornerback Denzel Ward at No. 4 – several slots higher than most mock drafts predicted. The team addressed the need to replace retired left tackle Joe Thomas and added a running back and defensive end on the second day as new Browns general manager John Dorsey was praised for bold moves and sound strategy. But Saturday’s choices of troubled Florida wide receiver Antonio Callaway in the fourth round and Louisiana-Lafayette cornerback Simeon Thomas were curious. Callaway failed a drug test at the NFL combine and his alarming list of legal issues with the Gators plunged him from potentially being picked in the first round to No. 114. Thomas missed time in 2013, 2014 and 2015 for academic reasons and NCAA violations. He was one of 13 players charged with misdemeanor criminal mischief after they were accused of entering a dorm room and taking $2,400 worth of items. Shortly after making the Callaway pick, Dorsey left the team’s draft room to defend the choice. Dorsey told reporters the team was satisfied it had done its homework on Callaway’s background, just as it had on Mayfield, whose Heisman Trophy-winning year began with an offseason arrest. ”Character is important,” Dorsey said. ”I think it’s a case-by-case basis and you sit and meet individuals, and then you begin to understand what they are as people. If you sit there and understand his situations and his life story, you can see a guy that actually loves the game of football.” Callaway’s passion notwithstanding Womens Kareem Hunt Jersey , his selection seems at odds with the Browns’ message of adding quality people to change their culture. But Dorsey, hired in December, has a track record for picking players at risk. While Kansas City’s GM, he drafted wide receiver Tyreek Hill, cornerback Marcus Peters and tight end Travis Kelce despite all bringing off-field baggage into the league. Each has made multiple Pro Bowls. Dorsey feels Callaway would have been one of the top two receivers drafted if not for his off-field problems, which include a season-long suspension in 2017 during an investigation into felony credit card fraud, marijuana possession and a sexual assault complaint. Browns coach Hue Jackson acknowledged the team’s draft class might not be choir boys. ”Obviously, there are some guys that are in this group that have some spots on them,” he said. ”But trust me, we’ve done our due diligence in making sure that we vetted it all out and we feel very good about these guys in our organization. There’s no question that we have the resources in place to help them through it and we’ll kind of go from there.” Here are some other takeaways from a draft the Browns hope begins their turnaround: THIRD IN LINE: Mayfield will go from No. 1 pick to No. 3 quarterback. For now. Jackson anointed Tyrod Taylor his starter as the Browns want to bring Mayfield along slowly. But Jackson knows things can change once training camp opens and Mayfield could move up the depth chart. ”Right now, Tyrod is the starter,” Jackson said. ”If Baker can understand the National Football League and all the rigors and the grinding that you have to go through Authentic Adrian Peterson Jersey , I am not going to ever stop a player from being the best he can be. But we have a plan and I want to work that plan as much as we can. ”Now, can a player supersede that? You never know. I have not had that happen. Right now, this team is going to be led by Tyrod Taylor.” SELLING POINT: Mayfield might have been the top choice from the outset for some inside the Browns’ organization. Not Jackson. He was skeptical about the Heisman winner until his pro day. ”The ball jumps off his arm,” Jackson said. ”He has a quick arm. He is very accurate with the ball. From there, obviously, spending some more time with him when he came here. Baker Mayfield from a football IQ standpoint is as good as I have been around. He has tremendous arm talent, more so than anybody knows.” RUNNING GAME: Second-round pick Nick Chubb compared his running style to Miami’s Frank Gore. Jackson sees the former Georgia star as ideally suited to run in Cleveland and as a nice complement to Carlos Hyde and Duke Johnson. ”A guy that is very physical, very tough,” Jackson said. ”He can create runs on his own. This is a guy that if we are going to run the football the way that we plan on running it, you have got to have good backs. With him and Carlos and Duke, we feel like we have some guys that we can do that with.” STILL NEEDED: Victories. Cleveland is 1-31 under Jackson, who needs to get off to a strong start in 2018. The Browns have made progress talent-wise in the offseason. Now it has to translate to the field. — If winning isn’t fun Youth James Conner Jersey , Devin McCourty doesn’t know what is. “We got a couple guys from Cleveland that went 0-16, and they told me that wasn’t fun,” McCourty said, via Mike Reiss of ESPN. “I’m going to try to stay on this side.” The Patriots are 102-26 in the regular season with four Super Bowl appearances, including two titles, since McCourty joined them as a first-round pick in 2010. The Patriots reacted to former teammate Cassius Marsh‘s comment that playing for the Patriots is neither “fun” nor “happy.” Linebacker Dont'a Hightower said the Patriots have fun but admits it’s not for everyone. McCourty wrote off Marsh’s comments as frustration. “I’m always having fun, but I get it,” McCourty said. “Cassius had a frustrating time here. I didn’t think he would get released here and say New England was the time of his life. He can’t wait to try to come back some day. “I think every experience for everyone, no matter what, is different. . . . You look at it, a team that beat us in the Super Bowl and you have guys [on their team] who are talking about it, so it’s front news. Cassius leaves http://www.jaguarscheapshop.com/cheap-authentic-leonard-fournette-jersey , he played here, so that’s another one. But I think if you ask any guys on this team, the fun we have comes from hanging with each other, the relationships between the guys. A lot of our fun happens right in the locker room even before we come out here and have fun winning football games. Obviously, we work for a living, so in this business, you have to win. When you lose, that’s not fun. People get fired. That’s not fun.” Authentic Womens Tyquan Lewis Jersey
