The Striper Rig features a 5/0 NS Black Baitholder hook snelled to 80lb. clear leader with a 100lb barrel swivel and a sliding sinker lock that goes on the main line above the swivel.
Some anglers prefer using circle hooks when surf fishing. Using a circle hook is better for the fish if you plan on releasing it. Plus, it gives you a little more time to get to the pole because you don't have to set the hook.
