Week Ending 6-9-07 Reports

Pier:

Still pretty much the same deal this week with small croaker, blues and plenty of small flounder with a few keepers mixed in. Little Island Pier reported some small spadefish earlier in the week as well. Big news of the week was someone landing a cobia at Ocean View Pier. Cobia fishing from OVP or Seagull Pier should only improve over the next few weeks, so start your engines for Mr. Brownsuit!

Surf:

Scattered blues and small croaker along the bay with some Pup's and roundheads reported in Sandbridge. Flounder along jetties on grubs or gudgeons. A few tried for cobia in Hampton, but none to show so far. My bet is it will be another week or more, then the cobia action will be good in the bay with the ocean cobia a few weeks later.

Boat:

Reds still being taken at 9ft shoals on crab, but you may have to weed through some rays, skates and sharks to get them. Cobia were caught again this week in the bay by a few anglers. Cobia catches are still low, but they are starting to show none the less. Offshore at the CLT spadefish action continues to be hot, but better get there early or it's going to be a parking lot. Still awaiting the arrivial of some sheepshead, as they should be showing along the islands of the CBBT any time now in some good numbers.

Hope to have a bunch of good stuff to report this week as it could bust open any time now.
