Default Week Ending 5/12/07 Report

Here's the scoop as I have heard:

Pier's/Surf:

Lynnhaven, Ocean view, Va. Beach and Sandbridge Piers have had runs of Blues all week until the front came through on Saturday. Mostly nice sized Taylor's on gotcha's, but some 5-10#er's as well mixed in on Gotcha's, windcheaters and cut blue on the bottom. Rudee Inlet at the rail has been providing anglers with plenty of small flounder, Blues galore and some pups and specks mixed in. Nice place to be if your a part of the tagging program (Thanks RACN35 for all the tagging you do!).

While at Lynnhave pier on Saturday, I also noticed a few schools of cownose rays moving through, so better be holding onto your rod or have the drag set when bottom fishing from a pier, as I have seen many a rods and tight drags become victim to Mr. Ray during this time of year. Also noticed a few crabs starting to show, so hopefully it won't be long now till the summer swings open.

Seagull pier is closed for repairs at this time!

Boat:

SPADES at the tower (as RACN35 reported) topped it off this week!

Red's on the shoals by the CBBT and Tog at the islands. Plenty of C&R schoolie striper along the rocks by the islands as well. Black drum also being reported on the shoals and towards fishermans island.

Flounder action this week was slower than weeks past from what I hear!

Take care and see you on the planks or sand!

Thanks for the report! I had a feeling the cownose would be running soon. They'll fool you for a minute.
