Default How About Your Trailer Lights? Do They Work?

Ya know,,,most of the time they dont.
I had some body ask me how I did mine.

Well, I took some pictures on how I wired my new LED lights and thought you would like to see how I did it.
After I almost got a ticket one AM on the way to work,,I spent a few hours in the shop elevating mine on the PVC up-rights that are on the sides of the trailer when I got home.
    Like this.

The only two splices (per side) that I do have in my wires are where they will NOT be under water at all when the trailer is backed into the water.
I have a splice in the wires up by the light and also up by the hitch where it plugs into the truck.
All of them are soldered, liquid elect tape, and then heat shrink tubing finishes it off. I don't know of a better way to do it........

Here is the wire I used. I think its 1.00 per foot

I have the LEDs on my john boat trailer and they'll be coming off very shortly. I've had nothing but problems with them. Wiring harness was brand new as were the lights. Not long after they were installed LEDs stopped working, the right light comes on very dim at first, it appears they need to "warm up" when I have driven for a while the lights are operating normal (what LEDs are actually working). Maybe I just got a bum set, but I'm going back to bulbs....at least I can change those....

Sounds like a bad ground Jeff, those things are pretty much bullet proof is wired and sealed correctly.
    Great info Rick!

My lights do work but only because I "engineered" them... they would blow out or corrode every time I backed down the ramp into the water. Stupid design on the tag light lets water flow easily into the housing. It's amazing how much you can charge for complete junk.
