Default What gear to bring to beach?

    Hi Fellow Fishing Friends,
Looking at this thread really makes me want to pickup and hit the beach some 3 hours from Alexandria. I hope to do this soon. I notice from the pics that nobody seems to be wearing a surf belt or surf tackle bag, etc. etc.
Is there a standard set of equipment recomendations for what you find useful in your trips. I don't see myself as scaling jetty rocks at midnight like Zeno Hromin (yeah I have been doing alot of reading up). But what do you find as necessary when you surf fish? What items are considered "too much extraneous stuff" for a newbie like myself. I've got the rod, reel, and rigs.

It all depends if you you will be walking to your spot or driving on the sand.
If you will be walking your stuff over the dune, a beach cart would be a great idea. Esox (member) has a cart and he stays out there for 2-3 days. He can give ya some info on what to bring.

If you have 4X4 and obtain a permit to drive on the sand, you can haul much more.
In addition to the required safety gear, I would suggest these items:
    First aid kit
    Flashlights
    Bug spray
    Long sleeve t-shirts and pants
    Rain gear
Long sleeve lightweight, quick dry shirt, to keep the sun off you and bugs.
    Sunscreen
    Sun umbrella
    Chairs
    Food
    PLENTY of potable water
Cell phone with the number to the ranger station.

There are plenty of other items other folks bring, adjust to your specific needs/wants.

    No 4x4 :

    Fish-n-mate or beach cart
    Lisence
    Sinkers
    leader material
    hooks
    sand spikes
    rod and real
    Fish Bite Blood worms
    head lamp
    back pack
water.. i like to freeze em so I can have dual use.
snacks..like granola bars or crackers and cheese
small cooler with block ice ( i freeze water in old milk or juice cartons )
terminal tackle .. like swivels and snap swivels
    sun tan lotion
    pliers

I like to KEEP THINGS SIMPLE. All small stuff in a back pack and the cooler, sand spikes and rods are in the beach cart.

I'm also a fan of having surf tackle being dual use.... my back was bought at a military surplus store and it folds into a stool.

    Hope this helps

Coop brings bananas, and he catches fish! LOL!
I'll bring 'em, I'm not worried about spiders.
Fruit is a perfect thing to bring.
