Cord - funny you should mention. Thats exactly what I did on my lami 162s and Breakaway 1509s rods using sash cord. I also would wrap the cord with electrical tape. Had it that way for years but I think it effects the action so have since been using cork tape as I cannot find the right teflon shrink wrap for those 162 thick arse handles. I still have to use bunch wraps of electrical tape where the rod handle hits my sissy plate. I just change the tape every so often. I can destroy a rod handle quick.
Don't worry bout me Bryan as as screwed up as my should gets after 2 days I doubt I will be able to fish hard. Wife going in for out patient procedure on Weds and if it does not go well I might even drop out which will end my life as I know it. Crap with wedding following weekend I might miss entire drum run.

CG, with that shoulder you'll have to toss my AFAW's...strong like bull but easy on the body. Then again no point in getting/trying new rods if you don't have time to fish!
