| Good question. I would like to know how it compares to cable.

A buddy of mine has it (Bowie Md.) and loves it. However, it is my understanding that we are years away from getting it in the Berlin/OCMD area even though it right there in Sussex Co. Del. I believe Verizon has to extend their fiber optic network. I know it takes/took a while even in the Wash DC area and not everyone there has it yet. The building I manage in Lanham Md. recently had verizon pull in the fiber capability. They told me it was in advance of the FIOS. We have no fiber currently running in the building as we are on 2, T-1 broadband lines. It would be nice to have. I have heard nothing but good things about it.

Had it before I moved. Loved it-nothing compares. We don't have it out here.

I have FIOS and it is phenomenal. I don't think I'd ever go with anyone else. Right now I have business class with 5 static IPs and only pay 120 a month (15 meg down 2 meg up). Because it is fiber to the house, I also have my home phone on fios...and just recently went with the FIOS TV option. I am about to switch to residential internet which will give me 20 meg down and 5 meg up but won't have any static IPs (since I don't need them anymore). in over a year I have only had one outage and that was when a piece of equipment in the CO went down. My phone still worked fine, but my internet was down for a few hours while they replaced the piece of equipment.

Only one problem with FIOS.... It's called digging. Not all the lines are overhead. The incorporated town I live in will not allow Big V to dig up the streets to put in the lines. So I guess I won't be seeing it. This is the same thing in other towns, they don't see any advantage to it from a town's point of view. It doesn't add coinage to their coffers so they won't allow the disruption to the streets. The residents will need to flood City Hall with demands for it. I just don't see that happening on a grand scale, most people don't get involved with politics.
