Default R.I.P. Monster Man

The man who caught the largest fish ever with a rod and reel, Frank Mundus, has passed away. The 3,247 lb Great white shark was the real life inspiration for Jaws movie and Frank was quite the sharker in his more youthful days. Even a year ago I saw a bunch of great pics online of him with the Paxton bros. from ILSFA.com doing some summer sharkin onboard the refurbished Cricket. R.I.P. monster man.

Wow, I had spoken with him through e-mail about a year ago. Man, he sure did accomplish a lot..

A GREAT loss considering his promotion of the survival of the White Shark he has done in the past few years.

Frank turned into one of the greatest spokesmen for the conservation of the Great White, along with all the other species.
His later life contributions to ecology will be sorely missed.

He was a character to everyone he touched.

The 4500 lb GW he caught in 1964 was the inspiration for the book Jaws.
You can find his web site at:

RIP Frank.....
Go ride the big one!
