i had a friend hired as a tech a while back, as soon as he got done his trainine is when they went on strike, then let alot of people go.

On the 16th at 8 am I have an interview for an amazing job!!!!!!! I cannot believe how nervous I am about this.... So I have a few questions for you guys.... does anyone know how much of a pain it is to get a Merchant Mariners Document???? I know I have to go to Baltimore to the Coastie testing center, what kind of test do I have to take and if so what do I need to study? I know I can pass the physical part, but it has been over 10 years since I have been to sea!!!! Any of you Coasties still have your books laying around????

when I had my preliminary meet and greet with the ships coordinator I got a brief tour of the ship.... and stacked in a corner by the door(almost knocked them over) was a big pile of rods and reels......he called it "scientific sampling equipment"!!!!!!!!
