I read that too......but to be honest with you, I'm suprised they haven't done it sooner. As nice as the rods are, I actually expected them to cost more when I bought mine.

I had an Ocean Master and a Taco rod side by side on the sand.
The OM didn't feel as light and I couldn't toss it as far, but it was darned close.
I took the OM back to BPS and bought another Taco....

My main beef (about both brands) is the uneven length. Just doesn't fit in the cab of the truck.

I've talked to the guy at digitaldagger.com, he seems pretty good, and his prices are decent. I looked last night actually at Penn Senators because I keep getting outbid on ebay a brand new 9/0 is only 139 from him and he ships reels for free

I looked at the site above. Tica has a new (to me?) series of surf rods (UGSA) that go up to $130. Maybe this is the "rumor" of higher prices and maybe the UEHA series will remain the same.

They list the UEHA836502S for $83 and HT sells it for $110. Yeah, seems like a big difference but you have to add in the oversized shipping....
They don't list it and I don't have the desire to email and find out.

The oversized shipping to Manassas is only $18. That is actually why I called. We also discussed the new Tica rod...the Dolphin. Bev has them at HT I looked at it when I was there a few weeks ago. The problem with that is they only come in spinning. The guy at digitadagger claims that the dolphin is exactly the same as the TC 2 with a slightly better Reel Seat and Guides.

I've heard good things about OM. I think if Tica prices do go up I'll try an OM.
