Take A Kid Fishing Day At AI
Once again this year AMSA and the Assateaugue state park held the take a kid fishing day this past saturday. It was a beautiful day with calm offshore winds and a whole lot of sun. There were almost 50 kids signed up for the event. We had several AMSA members attend the event to help the kids have a fun filled day. I would like to thank the members and junior members that helped with the event on the beach side as well as at the hot dog shack. You all know who you are and you know how much I appreciated your support. There were several fish caught this year, we had a few sand perch {white perch} and a few king fish as well as a few pesky skate. I would like to take this time to send a special thanks to the folks at harbor tackle for their donation of the bunker as well at the fish bites, the fish bites worked out great and the really gave the kids a feel for the action. Harbor tackle also donated a fishing rod, which we gave out to a youngster who was there to the end and really seemed to get bit by the surf-fishing bug. It was a great feeling to see so many young kids so exited by the event we were able to provide to them. As a member of AMSA I am honored to be able to know that in some way myself and the other volunteers may have been able to give a kid an experience that it may have not had otherwise.
Thanks again to all of the volunteers and Harbor tackle.
