Default A week of Sharking

I was in Corolla for Senior Week and wanted to get a Shark for everyone to see. I fished hard all week and had only 4 rays, a Sea Turtle (this was really big and really cool), and a couple nice bluefish (pic below)

I was out every night with two rods yakked out hoping for a shark. I had one run on the first night, but broke it off because it rubbed the line about 30 ft up......... I assume it ran into the line??

Anyway, it was the last night and I had a bluefish head on my spinning outfit and a whole 12" bluefish on my Casting. They were both yakked out past the bar and had been soaking for about 2 hours when at 11:45 PM I hooked up. I had been working all week for this........

About 20 minutes later....we had him in the wash.
My friend was an idiot ant tried tailroping it when it was in 3 feet of water...........He got a tooth in him and had 15 stitches put into his hand.........

After that.....I brought the fish shallower and 3 of us dragged him out of the water.

He was 98 inches and released quickly to fight another day. We even got the hook out!!

Pics:

and the release........

Can't wait to catch some in Bethany next week!!!!!

Hahaah luckily that is the Shark's blood from the Dehooking. However my buddy did have some blood on that beach....and will have a great story to tell. He wishes that it got him on the leg and made a nice big jawmark.........I told him to be careful of what he wishes for......

Yeah this was in Corolla, Outer Banks. I was down there to celebrate graduation and had to work all week to get one to bite.....I thought it would have come much easier down south like that.....

Can't wait to try for some different species this next week!!
