Default Best area

Ok, am considering a move to the Raleigh area.
I want a beach just like Assateague.
I want 4X4 access.
Alcohol ok.
24X7 access.
Beach bonfires ok.
No crowds.

A plus would be camping on the beach, or at least in the camper.

Areas to check out?

Well you got Va Beach to Ocracoke, but no 4x4 access till you get to the OBX and No bonfires there!

Not sure about the areas further south of Ocracoke (Wilmington, etc..)?

Yeah, OBX sounds good but not sure about access, crowds and a pre ride home nap.
Would like to know about Wilmington and below. I know the ICW runs through there, dunno' about barrier access.

there is always access, but there are closures sometimes for animals. sometimes there are people, sometimes not. depends on where, when, why, etc. I have been out there when NPS counted almost 700 trucks on the beach and I have been out there by myself.

oh yeah, you don't need anything special like permits to go on the beach, just a fishing liscence.

I'm not sure exactly where orv starts but the first ramp I know of is 23 just south of salvo. there are ramps every couple miles to get on. they are a lot less strict there. I think I have only ever seen one ranger.

all the numbers in the picture are ramps.

no gates to pass through just turning onto the beach and driving. down by the point is the most popular. If you ever come down just let me know and I'll show you around and be your "guide" I plan on doing some serious cobia fishing here soon so it isn't a problem for me to show you that part of the beach.

Thanks for the info and invite!
Where can I find that map online?
Also, could you point me to the rules & regs please?

Anything below the OBX? in NC or above Myrtle?

OuterBanksFishing.com

I don't really know of anything further south because I have never been down there.
