Default Jersey Boys Blasting em

Looks like the Bait/Blues/and Stripers are in thick on the Jersey shore...only a matter of time. They've had near blitz conditions for a couple days now.

If they would only cross the damn DE bay!

I'm not familiar enough to decipher their codes on the reports to know where, take a closer look and you may be able to figure it out. They'll list county abbreviations and give north or south, I just don't care enough to look into it. Most of those guys throw plugs and not soak bait. I'll take my solitude on AI over that kind of fishing, but it can be a good indication of what is coming our way.

Yeah, and don't catch a fish on a Jersey shore or you'll get mugged......Every fisherman in a 5 mile stretch of beach will be within 10' of you after you pull a big one out......Used to hate that when I fished Jersey

Jeff- that's true in some spots, but you can find solitude if you fish off the beaten path.

This past June in Avalon, I never saw another fisherman on the beach the entire week. Seemed like everyone was obsessed with fishing the jetties and ignored the sand.

They are also by the Wall and Haystacks along with the Rips by DE Bay.

I was throwing Bucktails and could have filled the entire box up w/ them. Move up to the Cape and throw some bait out there. They are there.

That I would believe.

The larger Stripers were further North - Off LBI. Now, this was 2 weeks ago. Water Temps have certainly dropped. For Rocktober our water temp was an Avg. of 64. This week I am hearing reports of 59.

Fished the ocean surf on incoming tide yesterday in South Jersey. Used FF's with bunker chunk. Lost one big fish as it spit the hook or never set properly, Lesson learned, let him run for a bit longer and ingest the bait. I was too premature and started to reel right away. When I cut back on the drag too quick, the line got slack and he spit it

However, my dad did manage 3 shorts to 21" on clam (I got to reel in the last one, woohoo!).

Wife caught a nice blue on a mullet rig with bucktail. There are some big blues out there if anyone still finds sport in a nice bluefish fight!

Might have gotten more, but the 3 dogs barking at gulls the whole day kept me occupied.

For today, weather seemed too nice with calm and clear water all around. My dad reports he had 2 dogfish from the surf, no blues or Stripers to be had on this day. Maybe next week!!

I am Far from a Striper Killer but, I've learned alot by watching and screwing up.

You said it correctly along with Bohica.

You need Circle Hooks.

You need to find LUMPS

Once you have a run off - let the Striper take it. Don't TOUCH the Rod. Leave it in the Rod Holder. SLOWLY move up on the Drag. When you feel you are Good on the Drag - HOOK 'EM.

Use small chunks and burry the hook.

Good luck
