Record Beaking Porbeagle Shark

35-year-old Mike Evensen caught a 7 1/2 foot, 455 pound porbeagle shark, the largest ever caught in Massachusetts waters.


It was his first time shark fishing and he broke the 414 porbeagle shark record that was set in 2004.

Or maybe they're proposing protection....
Perhaps it was just Virginia?

I thought the same thing, however when I started looking I didn't find it. I looked at the maryland list of federally protected sharks and it wasn't there


Federal Regulations governing the Atlantic Ocean and its tributary Coastal Bays. Fishermen are prohibited from possessing white, dusky, sand tiger, bigeye sand tiger, whale, basking bignose, Galapagos, Night, Caribbean reef, narrowtooth, Caribbean sharpnose, smalltail, Atlantic angel, longfin mako, bigeye thresher, sevengill, sixgill and bigeye sixgill. Except for those sharks that are prohibited, recreational fisherman are allowed to possess one shark per vessel per trip with a minimum size of 54-inches and one Atlantic sharpnose shark or one bonnethead shark per person per trip with no minimum size.
