A small group of fishing friends thought it would be a great idea to start a fishing club. The intent of this Club was to keep it small in order to keep the feeling of family. One of the founding members, Paul Bodolus, insisted that the idea of the feeling of family and good friends was kept throughout his tenure.
The idea was to fish and be able for the Club to contribute to the local community. When the fishing tournament began, it was a Sunfest event with the organizers of Sunfest administering the tournament. The fishing tournament became too big for them and then asked the Ocean City Surf Anglers Club to co-sponsor the event. Finally the Sunfest organizers turned the tournament over to the Club. In 1980 the tournament was renamed the Mid-Atlantic Surf Fishing Tournament and was entirely overseen by the Ocean City Surf Anglers Club.
This tournament is our only fund raising event which funds the Henrietta Bodolus Scholarship Fund and donations to various local charities.
