The White Marlin Open is over and the top OC boats are getting ready for the Mid Atlantic 500 which can be fished out of Cape May or OC. Being that a huge 935# Blue Marlin was hung during the WMO has alot of anglers hoping for some nice marlin for the 500. There were also some huge Mahi hung that were up to 67 pounds.

The bite is scattered right now and it will take a combination of skill, patience and luck to fill the fish boxes at this time. Hopefully, some new water will flow in and bring concentrations of fish, especially YFT.

I personally got out last tuesday. We went to the Hambone looking to jig for BFT. We did not find the tuna but once we started trolling we found some nice dolphin. We ended up pulling in the trolling gear and pulling out the spinning and fly gear. We used frozen baby spot for bait and tried everything: flies, poppers, butterfly jigs - all with success with a limit of 40 mahi and two full fish boxes of gaffer sized fish, along with a few throw backs since we had our limit.

According to my customers, there are scattered YFT at the Hot Dog, Poor Mans, and Washington Canyons. You can find schools of Mahi at the same spots. White Marlin are in all the canyons with reports of released fish at the Poormans, Washington, and Baltimore Canyons.
