Talking 9/10 with Bohica

What an eventfull couple of days for me......Fished with Sam on AI friday night to bed at 3, went to work at 8, then back to AI Sat. night all the way through till Sun morning to go off shore with Bohica(always a blast thank you) We went out about 12 miles to a secret spot ..... got into some nice sized croakers and as the weather started to turn icky... we spotted a shark ! I thought to myself I should make up a shark rig...oh wait...I have some already made So I rigged up and went a huntin...sent down a whole bunker no dice...... then sent down a live croaker all the way to the bottom....lots of hits no hook ups( they took everything but the head) ok so one more try cause its getting bumpy and I am starting to get sick. Send another croaker to the bottom..nada...we decide to get moving on home, I get the rig back to the surface and who do I see cruising around the bait....MR Charky!!!!(thank you Costa Del Mar) after some toying with him he finally takes it! bout 30-45 min later I finally get a good look at him as I am trying to tail rope him(4th trip to the top) I realize Dusky... oh well got him up close enough to cut the leader short and let him swim off. Bob has video and pics, loads of fun fishing aboard Bohica! then the brutal ride home(Sam you would have been so sick...I was)... don't mind the long windedness....I am delerious from lack of sleep......But It was so worth it what a great weekend of fishing.

Man, sounds like fun! How big was the shark? Get some sleep brother. Good fishing with ya and as much as I wanted to go this morning, I'm glad I didn't now. I hate being seasick!

Video is here.

Oliver,

Again, another outstanding trip! Sorry about the ride back, lol. You are always wecome aboard Bohica, and you really did a nice job of landing that fish; the first INTENTIONALLY caught aboard my boat.

Sam - you picked a good one to miss!! Mr C was about 5.5' 60# maybe more.

Total for the day:

11 croakers (7 in the box)

1 dusky (released)

Here's some pix, enjoy the video. I had a lens cover malfunction towards the end, but it still came out, kinda.

Nice video Bob!

Certainly looks like she kicked up there. I mentioned that last night riding home to the crew... 20 miles to go and she went from Flat to a good 2' chop and windy.

I think Sam was lucky he didn't go!

I seriously considered it right before I hit my head on my jeep rod holder this morning... Man, what a goose egg! Awesome pics and videos, Bob.

Hope nobodys kids heard my mouth on that video nice fight with that dusky.... not sure exactly how big but he was in the vicinity of 6 feet give or take and I would guess aprox 90 lbs. I was glad to get the chance to test that rod and reel combo with a bigger fish, its the one i plan on using to troll for rock in the yak this fall, and untill today I really wasn't sure of the reel. Sam that goose egg saved you.... I was lucky that the adrenaline from the catch didn't wear off till we were almost back. Never gonna stop me from going out though, I can't describe how much I love catching huge fish.... I am dying to hook into a marlin or a sailfish or better yet a really big Mako.
