Bohica 9/9/06
Ran out about 15 miles and I swear the water is rougher in the bay than it is in the ocean today!! Gorgeous! Pulled up on the Navy Barge and couldn't see any fish, so I moved to my newest super secret spot, and BAM!! All the croakers we could ever want to catch with some snapper blues mixed in. Probably threw back 60-70 little (under 16") croakers and ended up keeping 12 hardheads, 3 blues. They ate whatever we threw at 'em squid, clam, minnow, bluefish.
About 1/2 way through the drift, my Dad's line gets hit on the way down and the fight is on. 10 minutes later, he brings a nice sized blacktip to the boat and we release it safely. A short while later, he's hooked up again to something even bigger. He fights the fish for about 20 minutes and brings a 5-6 foot Bull shark to the boat. It sees the boat and wants nothing to do with it or us! And runs off. It took a while, but he got it under control, I cut the leader, and the high fives commenced. Please correct me if I've misidentified the species. What a great day. I love this sport! Enjoy the pix, I'll have some video up shortly.
