Default Another Trip

This time friends went out of Chicotueqe (spelling) anyway 21 ft center console 1 175 merc, left dock 6am 9/7. They had some chop on the way out but not the 5-8 ft seas that were predicted first stop at 40 miles out. Nada packed it up and were going south headed toward tip of Washington Canyon, one of the guys spotted a huge fin on the surface and they came upon a 12 ft hammerhead swimming right on the surface spooked it with the boat while throwing baits out in front of the fish wouldnt hit a thing so moved on to the Canyon. Here we go again had 15 minutes left to fish and tossed all the butterfish out as chum, had 2 of 4 poles reeled in and as one of them picked up the 3rd pole BAM he was already holdin the pole so he just hit the fish hard as he could and the fight was on! Unfotunatley he did not have a fighting belt on and it was some time before the others could get it on him the rod butt ate him up, fight lasted 45 min before fish came to the boat the 1st time to far out to gaff and took off when it saw the boat another 25min and back at the boat close enough to gaff first time and on the boat! Fish broke a 50lb scale estimate 65lb Big Eye Tuna. They had a camera with film in it this time and hopefully I can get hold of them , ride was smooth and sweet on the way back in total milage from trip 112, They didnt mess around much out there hit one spot and jump right to another. To bad I could not make it out....... Ted
