I had a talk with the new Superintendent of Assateague Island recently. I just couldn't help myself and I asked his opinion on shark fishing. ;)
He said he basically had two minor concerns about shark fishing on Assateague Island.
After thinking about this, I decided to design a Shark Fishing Web Page. What I need from you all are suggestions on what to put on this page.

Funny you bring up the not yakking out in the middle of a family(no I didn't) Last week I was paddling back in and there was a family about 200yrds up the beach and I thought to myself "how long would those kids be in the water if there mother knew I was shark fishing" Doesn't really matter that the sharks are there anyway and that the majority of the species are not likely to take a bite out of a human. I do agree that we should take some serious precautions, Maybe we should head further down the beach.

I used to do a lot of flying when I lived in FL. I would fly over Daytona Beach and look down at the hundreds of people swimming, wading, etc...
And the plethora of sharks swimming within a couple feet of the people. The people never knew.... But I agree, if we are targeting, move it down the ORV a bit. It's what the AI Super would like to see also. Legally we could set up right next to all the swimmers, but I wouldn't want to defend myself in a civil suit for doing such. There are folks here that do not have the vehicle to get down the beach, I understand. But it doesn't stop you from exercising caution and using common sense. Ya got to remember, there's nothing stopping the Feds from putting a restriction on targeting, like that story from the SC pier. Let's all just be very observant to who is around and think about the other people's right to enjoy the same waters we do. There aren't any rules governing how we do it, just use common sense and there won't be any restrictions imposed. It's everybody's playground, play nicely. Well, that's my two cents for this thread, got the "Where to fish" part...

Again I concur, I just found this new kind of fishing and I would not want to see Big Brother telling me I can't do it, and I really don't want to wind up in court because some lawyer thinks its my fault someone got bit. Fortunatly we tend to be targeting them more towards the evening and most "normal" people aren't in the water anyway.

For those folks who do not have 4x4 capabilities and want to target those big tooth buggers, I am quite sure those of us that do have 4x4 will be more than happy to team up. I know I would be.
