If you really want the best go with a Rainshadow or custom made rod. The best store bought rod I can reccommend is (believe it or not) a BPS Ocean Master Cape Point 12' conventional. They load nicely with 8 n bait and would handle 10 n bait very well. The hardware on these ros are very nice. You have to tape your own handle or wear gloves as they come clean. I have one paired with a slosh 30. SCHWEEETT.

I have a Tica XH that throws 6nbait like a dream but 10nbait would be overload for it I think.

I have a TC2 as well and love it. I want to pick up a 10' St Croix, its amazing how similar those two rods look, now I want to try them out side by side with my two Tica GN300's and see if they both perform the same.

coop, sorry i couldnt make it this weekend. next weekend should be better. I will bring the 1569, inferno and a fusion if i can get one built by then. so far i think the fusion is right up there with the RS 1509 but everyone throws differently and one rod will be perfect for one person and totally aweful for another.

Dave you gottat try the inferno at 12'6". I didnt like it much at 13' but at 12'6'' you are gonna love it for throwing heavy. Your RS 1509's are not cut at all full 12'6".

teddy send me a pm if you get a chance or give me a call, i sent my phone.

Thumbs up rs1509

Well, I got my rs1509 from Gary (8nbait) over the weekend and that is one shweeet rod ,,,I was tossing out a rather long bulky shark rig (about 2' cable leader, heavy mono, and bulky hook) and threw it a good distance,,,I wish I would of just used a typical short drum/striper rig to see exactly how far she will go,,,even with that long leader and bulky rig, the payload went out very far,,,I did not find it overly difficult to load and in fact thought it was pretty easy,,,I was throwing 8 ounces with a large chunk and very large hook for sharks and it handled all that weight just fine,,,I am guessing I was tossing close to 12 ounces out there, if not more,,,now it's time for another one,,,I was going to get the same one but thought it would fun to experiment with other rods and see how they compare to this one.

Thanks again Gary

If anyone is interested in a custom built rod, don't hesitate to drop Gary a pm,,,excellent work and great service,,,thanks Dave for pointing in me in the right direction .

Okay, you all are getting my attention with all of this "heaver" talk. Realistically, what is the difference in one of these vs. a 12' Tica? Are we talking different water here?

hummmm.. about $250
seriously , i'm talkin' custom built rods vs an off the shelf rod

nope same atlantic ocean
just rods that are capable of throwing at least 8&bait , usually better components in the rod itself , better quality ...
put together better ...
