Default leader material

Just curious,
has anyone tried this stuff?
Twist wire leader made by staminainc.
Going to be down July 9th - 11th for some shark fishing and I want to make some leaders. Think this stuff is any good?

never tried it.. but last year we used weedeater line on some of the shark rigs we had, but most if not all the sharks we hooked up were on fish finder rigs with 80 or 100lb line crimped to the hook and 50lb shock leader. I was never patient enough to get my sharks the whole way to the beach, but that's what they were most likely to be hooked on.

Default crimps?

Hey,
crimps sound good, I tried tying 100lb mono but its real ugly.
What size and kind of crimps would someone use for 100lb mono.
It's the stuff on the flat spool by andy called leader material.
It's the mono not flouro, costs like 7 bucks for 100 yrd spool.

Thanks
chris

when tying heavy mono use a 3 turn uni knot leave a long tag.

As for crimps, look for somthing in a 1.2 mm size.

But i never crimp anything with 100 lb anymore.

If you want to tie 100# use two pickup trucks to cinch it down.
For crimps, make sure it's aluminum for mono, least it cut the line.

The lightest shock I use in summer for Charks is 250# with 100# running line, hard steel line at the hook. They can chafe mono with their denticles real quick like.

Do you plan to cast this or yak it out?
If tossing, 100 is fine....

Thanks for the replys.
I plan on casting this out.
I fished this way last year and caught up to about 5 foot sand tigers.
I decided to tie. About 4 foot of 100 mono to 2 foot coated twisted steel leader, premade from tackle shop, like 60lb. I figure with fishfinder rig on main line I can take the hook and bait and hang it on the sputnik singer making it a short drop to cast.
Thanks again.

The weak spot may be the 60# wire. I'd bump it up to at least the same as your mono shock. Sometimes a Chark will get the line twisted around it's tail and the denticles will slice the lighter mono real quick. What size and type hook?

Sounds like you got the setup fairly well tuned though.
Have you tried at night? They feed more actively then.
Go get 'em!
