Default Always Have A Plan 'B'

In the hopes of going sharkin' tomorrow, Oliver and I ran out to the Jackspot to load up on bluefish for bait.

When we got there, the water was green, dirty and cold. We trolled for 3 hours, with nothing to show for it. 5 or 6 other boats were there as well. As usual in MD there was absolutely zero radio chatter, so I don't know how anyone else fared.

We decided to pull lines and head to the misfit reef. We pulled up next to the Morning Star, which was a good sign. We immediately hooked into the doggies, made an adjustment to out drift, then the sea bass bite turned on.....sort of.

Lots of dinks, but we kept a few of the larger ones for the pan.

Beautiful day on the water, if a little chilly. Tight 1-2' chop which the Glacier Bay ate up and asked for seconds.

Oliver got the biggest fish @ 19"

Thumbs up Seabass trip

Nice job guys.

I headed out with Bohica, Randy, Oliver and Chris today in hopes of catching my first Seabass. Got it! Great time on Bob's boat and it was nice to learn a few things about offshore fishing. I'm looking forward to going again.

fished OC inlet Sat night from 8:00 to 11:00 with nothing to show for it. Lots of people fishing and only saw one shad caught.

Headed over to AI at 11:00 and fished all night until 2:00pm the next afternoon. Ocean was as flat as can be, not a wave in sight, not even the shore break. Not good for stripers :( It was a great night out except for an hour or so when the wind shifted and it got cold quick.

A couple of doggies, some skate and a couple of small sand bar sharks. Tried for kings, flounder with no takers.

Heard of some sand tigers being caught at night.

Well done, Sam!! I was glad we were able to get you at least one.

You're welcome to come anytime. Call me if you get the itch.

The bite this weekend has been slow but consistent.

Well Ryan and I were out Saturday and Sunday evening. Looking for rockfish but only sharks!!!! I assume this is a sandbar. Caught maybe 20 of these in two evenings.

And this sandtiger. We also had a heavy fish on for a short bit that came unhooked and another shark that was probably a bit bigger than this one that broke off in the wash. I was rigged for stripers, not sharks.

We were fishing the walkover and got there at low tide and it appears to me that there is no outer bar right now. Water was slick calm on Saturday and some nice current with the SE on Sunday and nothing breaking on what used to be the outer bar......

Those sandbars can be little speedsters.

Yeah i thought things looked pretty flat last time i was out. We ran down to the fence, and had trouble deciding on which stretch of nothingness to fish in.

Nice sandtiger, first one i've heard of so far, I'm already drooling over what late summer will bring us
