Default Assateague Plover Closures?

www delmarvanow com

has an article about Assateague Plover closures. Is this real? I didn't see any reference to it on the NPS AI site.

(I'd post the link but I'm a new user an I'm not allowed yet).

Yes, they do indeed close areas.

Here's the link to what most of us already expect (again).

According to Park Ranger Ethan .. it's not affecting the Maryland OSV zone at this time. The birds haven't nested in any of the areas accessible by vehicles so there isn't a current need to close any of the zone.

Sorry - I got the impression from the article that some of the OSV area had been effected.

Question - if a nest pops up by the Bull Pen - does that effectively close access to all beach south of that? Similar to what's happening in Hatteras at the moment?

Cool

It varies. Sometimes they rope it off all the way to the water, sometimes not. If they nest in a very wide flat area and there is room to get vehicles through, they will allow it. It just depends how far east the nest is.

So they answer is yes, no, and maybe. Just have to see where the nest is.
