Do stripers in Maryland waters have a disease?
This season I am going to have a go at catching stripers in the Ch. Bay but just read that many of them have an infectious disease. Is this true? And what of stripers off Assateague? Would appreciate it if someone could provide information about this. (I tried searching for information in the forum but nothing came up) Josh24

If the fish has lesions on it, don't handle the sores or eat. Toss it back. The Maryland DNR used to solicit the info but I don't think they do anymore.

All of the stripers in MD are deseased...don't fish for them....let us VA Anglers deal with 'em as they come down here. Don't risk it!

Diseased ones throw back, the "deseased" ones just mean they haven't been out to "sea" and are ok but don't taste as well.
Yeah, better let the boyz in VA handle those..... LOL!!
