I have heard of people getting in trouble with the slot limits (in the bay) when DNR measured the fish and compressed the tail it put the fish over the slot.

Well, to try and get a quick fishing fix, Myself, my son, and a buddy decided to go tog fishing on a headboat out of Lewes Saturday. Weather cooperated but the fish were not so nice to us. We ended up bringing home 3 keepers between us, and unfortunately they were the only 3 keepers that the boat caught. Other than the 3 keepers we caught a few shorties that had to go back. I also caught a fish that I can't identify, it kinda looked like a perch in body style, had the color of a mud shad, big extruding lips and some narly teeth. The mate told me what it was, but I can't remember the name of it for the life of me. I found that hooking a tog is tougher than I expected it to be, my son needs to take the dramamine BEFORE we get on the big water, and if you are tired enough you can sleep just about anywhere.
My buddy made some killer fish chowder from his tog It was some kinda good. My tog is waiting for me to find a good recipe for a fry or bake.
All in all we had a good time and it gave us the needed pullage to hold us over for the spring.
I'm at work and don't have the camera with me right now, but as soon as I can, I'll post a couple of pictures.

The PDF of the book can be downloaded here

also keep in mind that if you put the fish on ice it will shrink, if you measure it @ 28.25 and ice it, the man may find it to be 27.75 and you will be fined

I took my new (old) "Beach Heap" out yesterday. We found a couple of loons working in close about 1/2 mile south of the Bull Pen. We used clams and frozen herring and didn't get a bite. Tide was going out so that may have added to my skunkin'. Anyway, it was great to get on the beach and wet a line.

Default tail

The tail was at least 4 inches on top of the water and was able to see the black back. The fight was totally different than the doggies. This fish was pulling out drag, rather than dragging in the dog fish. Young fisha and I were using Bunker chunks. we were a few miles past the bull pen.. We will be out again this weekend just look for the white Honda Pilot.
