Default Striper Tags

Man this was cool when I was cleaning the fish I got Friday I fond a tag on her at first I did not know what it was since it was in the meat of the fish when I dug it out I knew it was a tag after cleaning it up I was able to read it ( very small print need lots of light to see ) had an 800 number on it think it was tagged from MD waters as its add., is from Annapolis so cool I'll call them Monday and give them all the info on the fish where, when etc....checked into it some and found this site.

http://www.dnr.state.md.us/fisheries.../tag/tags.html

Has some good info on what kind of tags and where they are placed on the fish. And you get a reward for calling in a tagged rock fish with a certificate with information about the tagged fish and a hat with a picture of a striped bass on it. 8)

Keep an eye out for them if the long outer part of the tag is missing, its hard to find in the fish I found mine by accident. :? On rocks they will be tagged on the left belly side of the fish..

In the pic you can see a small tab sticking out of the back side only about 1/2 in. It should be about 1 1/2 to 2 in. (sorry about the pics hard to get a close up there small)

Dave keep us informed as to where she was tagged,,,I know you said the tag is from annapolis, but maybe the fish was tagged somewhere else,,,did the fish have roe?,,,if she did and maybe tagged from the chesapeake waters, then I would believe she may of been heading in that direction.
