One man's trash is another mans treasure...recycle please

If folks were better informed concerning their trash maybe they would be more considerate of what they leave behind. I wonder if this information is available to beach-goers via local brochures?

For future reference here is an interesting timeline. Just how long does it take for litter to decompose?

· Styrofoam: never
· Plastic bottle: never
· Rubber tires: never
· Glass bottle: 1 million years
· Disposable diaper: 500 years
· Aluminum can: 200-500 years
· Batteries: 100 years
· Plastic bag: 10-20 years
· Leather shoe: 25-45 years
· Cigarette butt: 10-20 years
· Plastic coated milk carton: five years
· Paper container: five months
· Banana peel: one month

The good thing is that almost every one of these items can be recycled – but only if it is disposed of properly.

wow....these people here in TX. must not give a crap about these beaches, because that picture looks like a clean beach here in TX.
