Fished yesterday with Sam and DaveH. Managed a blue, croaker and a fun size sandbar. Sam, had a big time screamer but it came unglued and I had one that bit through my malin wire or it tossed and turned kinked and then snapped. The water temps are perfect and as long as the wind doesn't blow hard out of the s/sw, condition should be good whether casting or yaking.

Ran into Dave (critter gitter) and Erik. Dave got a huge sandbar casting.

Hopefully water temps will remain warm...catchem up!

Fished beach Friday-Sun am. Sharks, nice big kings, many many blues and small croakers. Hooked up on a criitter at 9:45 am Fri and finally beached her 11:15. Never had a Sandbar fight so hard as I was putting all the pressure I could with my heavy duty spinning heaver and 20 lb line on a Penn 9500. For the longest time I thought huge ray until finally I got her to the outer bar where both dorsals showed about 120 yds out. Way cool. I just could not get her in the slough and once I did it was another 45 min. I mean the whole time I'm thinking 7 or 8 footer and once beached I think she went about 6.5 but really really wide shoulders and tall dorsal finned black female Sandar. This picture really does not do her justice as she is curled away from camera. My guess is 120 lber. I have landed a few Sandbars that size but never such a gruelling fight. She had such screaming runs all I could do was loosen drag and use my hands to cup the spool. That Penn holds about 450 yds so I had plenty of ammo to turn her. Got about a 4.5 foot Dusky after dark and some lost runs/rigs and Erik should have pic. No sharks Sat. but nice kings showed but far and in between. Think I ended up with 10 albeit very large like 13 to 14inchers. Fresh blues were good for supper and king baits.

Dave, what time of day were you getting the Charks and Blues?
What baits for both?

Hey Steve. Caught sharks on beach casted Bunker/Blue heads and kings on Blue/fishbite bits all times of day. Caught blues on stingsilvers and long cast on 24in firebal rig with pieces of bunker and bluefish.

Dave,

Livin up to your handle once again, I'm jealous.

What's funny is I showed this to my wife and told her it was on a casted bait, she said "wow, that means they are in close"...my response was "not necessarily if Critter was the one castin'".

Default Fri. fishing

My cousin Scott, Sam, and I fished the bay Fri. morning for several hours. We were using squid/minnows. Caught several shorties with 1 keeper about 17". Also a small blue, sea bass, and some robins.A beautiful day on the water. That evening we hit the beach to fish with Sam and Coop.A great way to end the day.

Default Sun bay

Sun. my cousin and I hit the bay for several hours before pulling the boat.We started catching croakers so we put out 3 rods with small 1/4" pcs. of fish bites.WHAT A BLAST!! At times we were pulling them up 2 at a time with all 3 rods going at once. It seemed like they were biting as soon as the bait hit the bottom. We must have drifted threw a school several times. Most were small with only 3 or 4- 8" to 10".All were thrown back

.....couple pics.
I only got one Shark this weekend,a "fun sized" Sandbar/Dusky.I lost what I think was a Spinner Fri. night.
Nice, big Kingfish were in the surf.I pulled on a couple Butterfly Rays yesterday but they were both too powerful and big to control.Got my butt kicked by those guys.Croakers showed up in force Fri nite at dusk, but we couldn't get any of the jumbos like the ones that Coop had in his cooler!

What is up w/ dat. Guess when you can't see you have to feel around for where the teeth are so you can pull the hook. After ten sharks you have to work it with your toes cause ya aint got no more fingers. One for the Darwin awards.lol BTW that is a 14in king.

Default saturday report

we went saturday afternoon - the crabs were horrible, bait was only on for about five minutes at the most, so checking lines was constant. few small nibbles but no hook ups. Then towards evening while rebaiting one rod the one next to me bowed down with a strong pull ( ahh heaven ) it was a nice flounder 18 1/2 inches. shortly after that the same rod had something mouthing the bait and causing the line to go slack, so the third time I set the hook and whatever it was headed for Europe, with the rod bent double and the drag singing my line parted and that was that. the main line was frayed for a couple of inches where it broke, so I am guessing shark skin. anyway it was a beautiful evening on the beach.
