Default gonna start sharkin early

After last night getting spooled by something and bringing in a shredded line and catching some baby sandbars, thinking it is time to start making rigs and trying for a few sand tigers since I am not having any luck with the stripers. Still gonna try for striper but will also be prepared for the occasional toothy ones. I think with all the tell tell signs I have been getting we are gonna have a good year for sharkin (hopefully).

I think you are right, Dave. There are small sandbars and sand tigers out there (I've caught a couple and this is just the beginning of june). If this keeps up, we'll be up to our hips in nice, fighting sharks by the end of June.

I have seen four footers caught at Fenwick in May, so you can be sure there are a few around. Waters are warming up quick. With the spring run of stripers, and migration of others species, a yakked out bait on some light wire or heavy mono rig could attract several types of large fish .... not just toothies.... now is the time for a more unusal catch from a yakked bait, as not too many people are venturing out in their yaks this early on in the season ... its a different world beyond the bar...

SHARKS? Do I smell sharks?????!!!!

Hey guys, haven't posted here in quite some time. Hopefully you all remember me. I am the kid who caught a few nice Sand Tigers last summer. Anyway, we are planning to make our yearly Bethany Beach vacation on July 15th lasting for about a week. I REALLY like what I have been hearing about all these "it might be a good sharking summer" posts.
Do you think the timing should be alright in the middle of July? I sure wouldn't mind hooking up with a sandbar or two, instead of the sand tigers- but they are just fine!!! Especially when they are over 8 feet long

I look forward to getting back into the swing of things on the site- I like the new look!
Hopefully I will be able to fish with a few guys like I did with Sam and Oliver last year. They were great times even though we didn't have any hookups with all that wind.

Nice to be back fellas,

Ben

Hey Ben! I still tell stories about you on the beach. Welcome back!

How is life treating you? How is your pop?

Looking forward to meeting up with you this summer.

Thanks for the welcome fellas!
Things have been going great for me! I have been doing extremely well with my Jr. Bassmaster tournaments, and hopefully will qualify for the World Championships again for both the FLW and BASS jr divisions.
After watching all of those shark fishing shows on Vs. I am itching to get back out there and get some pullage. I am going to make my rigs once I get out of school (June 20th- YUCK!), and then, right after a trip to Vegas for the iCAST fishing show, I'll be down there for at least a week for family vacation. All I do then is fish, of course.

I can't wait to start seeing more and more toothy pictures in the fishing reports section! Hopefully we can organize another time where we can get together on AI like last time- just without the COLD weather and windy conditions- and more teeth.

Ben

PS: My dad is doing great and looks forward to a little charkin...........that big ST has been his Laptop background for quite some time now.....We are still telling stories about the "I ran into the water and hugged a Sand Tiger shark trying to wrestle it to shore for pictures" story......haha gets the crowd going every time.
Do you remember me calling you at 3 am to tell you about that encounter??? I still can't believe I actually tried to wrestle an 8 foot shark when it wasn't even roped or hooked up.........haha O man GOOD Times on the beach........more to come!!
